high(er) effort headcanon thread

hello. freebie time.

throw whatever headcanon you have in mind for this lady!! I'd love to see what you come up for her- 👀

• Various acquaintances have thrown science-related memes at her. She does not like that, not wanting to connect to internet culture.
• Without meaning to, might roll her eyes if ever embarrassed?
• Likes (or has liked) to look up animal images, including taxidermy-related ones, to get ideas for her own works?
• She sidesteps people she does not want to talk to. They may or may not appreciate/respect this, but still let her be when valid?
• Likes to prank people with her animal mimicry.

reading that melina is the kind of person that won't hesitate to speak out her opinion, i feel like a downside of her would that she can be..... quite harsh when it comes to voicing out her opinion. as i see her as a confident individual, her confidence that radiates through her and give her moments where her outspokenness will shine through.. well, perhaps a bit too much. she's values her honesty greatly, though that gives her the fault of not considering others' feelings beforehand and may speak out impulsively. despite this, she genuinely doesn't mean any ill or malicious intent, and will try to back herself away from making blunt or sassy remarks. i feel like this fault of her might flare up when she is feeling upset, especially when she is definitely infuriated with the latter. this is a fault that she isn't proud of, but being that she values honesty, she is quite conflicted as her outspokenness will not do her wonders sometimes. melina still remains to be a kind person and all, she cares about others and tries to fix this fault of hers despite letting herself go during the wrong moments.

on a brighter note, i feel like melina loves to spoil and give gifts to nea! when melina she sees nea, she loves to make some food for her and surprise her with it! however, this doesn't also have to do with cooking nea's favorite food, she is a thoughtful individual and will surprise her with accessories and other items. i also feel like that melina is the kind of person to be extremely and openly affectionate, primarily stemming back to her confidence.

for next np: before you establishing headcanons about gidon, please keep in mind that gidon is a historical figure, and existed 200-300 years ago before the current story takes place. there is some more information regarding this in his profile. if you have any questions about gidon, you may dm me. if you don't want to write headcanons for gidon, then you may do roderick! please read the content warnings of my characters beforehand. thank you! :^D

hello kaido. I hope you know I have strong feelings regarding Gidon, and said feelings tend to result in me spitting out the wildest headcanons. here I go.

first of all, Gidon's favored form of physical affection is hugs. it doesn't really matter if it's just slinging an arm around his shoulder or a full-on bear hug; gestures like that would make him melt either way. he doesn't necessarily become a flustered mess when hugged (unlike. a certain other Wekail individual), but he does tend to just... freeze up, because he has no idea how to compute such a gesture. it's one that genuinely shocks him every time, even if he gets hugged a lot, but it's in a good way. he has a particular preference for long, almost crushing hugs - because he likes the affection involved in them. sure, they might cause his spine to potentially go crack, but it's a good time if he can feel the warmth in such a gesture.

I also think he isn't particularly picky about the type of fish he eats, though that more so concerns the species than how it's prepared. for example, he can eat salmon and halibut just fine if they're cooked the same way, but he might be more reluctant to eat raw salmon than cooked salmon. I specifically think he'd be a bit of an elitist considering raw fish, believing that leaving it raw does the fish justice and preserves the flavor and texture better than cooked fish ever could. his favored preparation is probably something like sashimi/sushi or ceviche, but I can also see him liking poached or smoked fish if the texture isn't too dry. (he dislikes dry fish meat and would probably cry if someone gave him overcooked fish.)

finally, Gidon probably has roughened pads/palms from climbing around, and maybe a scar resulting from him falling from a place he was trying to climb. he isn't particularly proud of either, to be honest. the "scar" is probably more so scratches that he got from falling onto a cactus, or a bed of brambles, and they just... never properly healed because of the medicine of the era. Gidon might be prone to infection because of those, and he either tries to cover them up with clothing or apply aloe sap to the wounds as an impromptu antimicrobial medication. he also tries to cover up his rough skin with the sap from his aloe plants when he can, though his job often prevents him from doing it more often than he'd like. bringing up these aspects of his physical appearance isn't necessarily sensitive to him, but he'd rather not talk about it for extended periods of time (or have it be the primary topic of a conversation) if he can help it.

feel free to incorporate them into his lore if you like them... or none at all... I feel nothing but the greatest desire to pick him up and put him in a baby harness. :)

@ NP: please keep in mind that Truffles is meant to be written as a human!! if you assume he's written as a cat, I'm going to cry in a bad way. 😔😔😔

other than that, go wild. he's pretty much a funny Pokémon fan character, so I don't mind anything pertaining to that in particular- :)c

• An obsession with caffeine, specifically that in coffee and chocolate, has gained on itself since an early age. (This might have been due to indirect interest, or due to trying to emulate a relative.) Because Truffles (and his name is ironically -- perhaps -- tied to that in others' perspectives) started off on coffee and other drinks early, he sort of grew into the habit, somewhat adapting to it. Having adapted to it, he couldn't go without it, and by extent perpetuated that cycle. It might not have helped that others might have instigated that interest either, being aware of his interests, and at this time he is unconscious to that long-standing cycle.
• May absolutely hate being in the background, having an unconscious declination to being shoved aside. This is where his tendency to wear flash clothing comes in. Being someone who might not have stood out at one point, having that turn to his detriment might have been enough that he (silently) made a decision to preempt others' behavior. Whether this is actually good for his reputation or not may be varied, but he doesn't have much care about others' perspectives. Only rarely will he take a more nondescript direction, if in a hurry or if expected at a formal/important event. After all, he does not want to jeopardize what he has in terms of relationships.
•  He pushes back against others' negativity in an attempt to deprive them of power against himself, in his own mind at least. He has a fragile self-image in some chance, which has caused problems occasionally. Even when he may be somewhat easygoing, there are times where he may mentally break from that and take an offense-oriented stance. This is something that has actually benefitted him; if mostly longer-term. He has a number of friends to fall back on who understand him and empathize -- but who might not take part in his social/verbal conflicts.

-Her snakes each have unique personalities, not enough to tell at a first glance, but certainly noticeable if you've lived with them on your head for your entire life, such as preferences for certain hairstyles, some having a brighter or moodier disposition than others, and how they generally interact with each other and Angitia

-She grows a lot of her own vegetables and foods, partly because she enjoys it, and partly because she prefers to stay away from shopping crowds. She only really ventures out to the markets when she's in need of any meats or other products unavailable in her garden. 

-Due to the hard work Angitia puts into her craft, she makes a point not to mention her family's name when taking on new clients who don't already know, as she wants people to choose her work for its quality and her own innate talent, not because she comes from a notable bloodline. 

-Owns a small set of jewelry made specifically for some of her snakes that prefer to be a little flashier. It's nothing too ornate, mostly thin necklaces and ribbons that she'd sewed herself. She usually reserves them for more serious occasions, such as large social events or important client meetings. 

-She owns a small personal library full of books she'd either inherited from her family, or ones gained over her time over her travels. One of her favorite things to do after winding down from a long day at work is to read old texts with a nice cup of tea, and occasionally she'll simply just sit in the library and sew, due to the relaxing atmosphere.
