Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 26 days ago (Edited 6 years, 4 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

H-Holy heck!!! This is so good, SWEET CRISTO!!!! No--- I'm serious, I really dig the vocals?? It's really rare for me to like English vocals, but maybe this reminded me of my other favorite bands such as NCIS (Nothing's Carved in Stone) or FALILV (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), which are rock bands that sing in English too! I just love the clearness of the main vocal's voice?? Gosh, it feels like candy to listen to! OH OH OH I'M ALSO DIGGING THE PERCUSSION SO FAR??? It's so overwhelming, and it accompanies the powerful tone the song is trying to express! A total 10/10, I think I may come back listening to this band in the far future! (the comments are hilarious on the video too JKHDGXDJHD "When your mom wont let you play dungeons and dragons so you start a band instead." HAHAHAHA)

I'm not too fond of medifantasy stuff, but dang, this is so overwhelmingly beautiful! Maybe I'm just biased over pipe organs and sexy percussions mixed AHIHIHI

Oh, not to mention how badass the guy talking on the interlude was, dang

CW: Flashing images and softcore gore for the video! How about Koyori's Talent Sampler? I picked Mafumafu's cover because I really love his voice :3c This song is one of my top vent songs when I feel emo! There are translations on the Closed Captions if you're curious about the lyrics >:3c

Can't really say I understand what it's about. I feel like it might be about like. When you imitate the talents of other people until you find you own talent. But. That doesn't fit quite right with the visuals or with the general feeling of the song, I think. Maybe it's the translation so I can't really grasp it? Or maybe it doesn't really mean anything.

Seems like a pretty mild song. Not bad. Couldn't connect to it that well. I guess because it's mild, haha. I kind of wanted the chorus to go harder, but I feel like that would be counter to what it was going for.

"Sunshine Dust" by Skyharbor Beautifully uplifting song to finish off the album.

"Will you pray for me, As I fight through the rain, I can hardly see what I can become."

Gosh, the instrumentals in that song are just incredible. I’m not usually one for that type of music (I’m more sick drops and electronic) but gosh, I love the melody the song has overall. It makes me think of some kind of montage scene of some kind where the main character is trying to be determined in the face of danger, I dunno haha. It’s absolutely worth a listen and I’m glad I got to listen to something new! :D

So, me and my friend made a playlist we call the “Tasty” playlist, and the songs on it we play while she drives. Everything is hella great on there and I want to bring Felix Cartal -Runaway (feat. REGN) to the table OwO

to be completely honest, I like it, but not as much as I like the Infected Mushroom cover of the song.

I keep seeing this song in my recs on youtube, but I never took the time to listen to it. Gotta say, it's pretty dope. It's not needed, but I could envision some nice rap over it could be cool. Maybe.

Aside: I was surprised that Infected Mushroom did a cover. But man, I'm glad they did, lol.

Spotify recommended me "The Crow" by Dessa as part of my tastebreaker playlist. A pretty nice change of pace.

welcome to rnb, sorry it's not vocaloid

As much as I love both the instrumentals and vocals, I feel it just doesn't blend? I got the feeling that the vocals would fit trance, pop, or jazz with less wild percussion? Don't get me wrong, I like the percussion AND the vocals but there's something that makes it seem a bit offbeat. I think she sounds monotonous with the percussion, especially with the layered voices? Parts from 2:25 were good, though.

How about Mikazuki Resize by Amatsuki? The video has A LOT of flashy images, so take caution! It's one of my many weeb jam but open CC for translation

vv Yes!! This PV has the same artist as Clean Freak and Eve has a lot of covers done with this artist's PVs!!

Memesogic

I do like this song, especially the rock instrumental. The visuals are amazing, it reminds me of Clean Freak mixed with the style of Eve’s MV. Though, when it comes to the slow part and a short pause, I feel like it isn’t necessary at best. It felt like the writer just added that in, but the visuals matches the tone for both so I don’t really mind it much. Its a good song, but not a song I would listen to 24/7, haha.

What about Tokyo Ghetto? its one of my favourites, haha.

nincompoop

i really like that, actually. it has a really catchy beat and while i have no idea what the lyrics are, they sound epic. i like the sped up part the most and the video is really cool as well. its kinda catchy as well oof.

hhh, medicine by bmth came out really recently so here.

Jazzy_J_Wolf

What the hell was that music video. The songs good but holy cow, I was so transfixed on the video I had to listen to it twice.
