[IC] Association rambling

Posted 6 years, 6 months ago (Edited 5 years, 4 months ago) by Caine

Basically this is an IC game where the characters get to ramble about something they associate with what the OC above them has talked about!

This can be anything from really straightforward associations (A talks about Christmas and B proceeds to talk about how they never believed in Santa) or something more vague (Character C talks about their relationship with their parents, character D talks about what their childhood home used to smell like).

The point of this game is to just have fun and get to know your own and other people's characters through their small ramblings!

  • Your post can be any length you want! Just keep it short enough other people will have the stamina to read it to pick an association from there for their own OC
  • Make sure to claim your spot so nobody will snatch it while you type!
  • Your character doesn't have to respond to the character above in any way! However, they can do that if you want.

How this game works:

Character A: [talks something about flowers and how they like roses]

Character B: My father used to own a flower shop and I used to spend a lot time there [description about the shop and things they liked there]

Character C: I love shopping clothes but I don't usually have much money to do that!

Since there is no first post, how about the first poster's character talks about music! (what they like, if they play/sing themselves etc, anything they find relevant)

(what a cute thread!!!)

"Oh my goodness, music! The light of my life. You see, I wasn't always so lucky to spend all my time creating music and playing my ditties. I've always studied the art of storytelling through a melody, but... In my adulthood, before I held a lute every day, I held a sword, and much worse, sometimes...! I had to help others in their plights; perilous journeys full of violence and natural danger-- the world is as harsh as the people that have overruled it, unfortunately...
But I'm still here, alive and well, and my adventures have led me to a greater voice where telling a story through song is concerned. Isn't that what one would call a 'happy ending'? I truly hope I can play my instrument and sing for others 'till the last of my days. And wouldn't it be wonderful if I could pursue the study of other instruments, as well?"

Claude Lovelace Caine

"Flute is my main instrument, and it's actually the reason why I am in that remote boarding school in the first place: my teacher lives in this town. She is an elderly woman and used to be the best flutist in the country before her retirement, so I figured if I wanted to be the best, I should learn from the best. However, it was... not a very easy task to start studying under her. It's not something I particularly like to talk about, and it's mostly due to not wanting to admit how shameful I was.

I had to live two weeks at her place, and if I would manage to follow her instructions and not quit midway through, she'd teach me. I didn't like that at first. Rather than studying music, she made me do things I had never done before: clean the plates, wash floors and clean windows; the job of servants I had never done before, nor did I imagine I would. And I was angry at her for making me do that work, but I was far too proud to return home with tail between my legs, so I persevered.

Honestly, even to this day I still question her methods, but she told me: 'If you're serious about your studies, you can't give up the very moment things get new and uncomfortable for you.' She also told me my nature is terrible, but that it's not something that couldn't be trained. My teacher truly doesn't mince words, as you can see."

"You know, I studied music. In fact, I studied how to teach high school band. Sure, I was okay with teaching middle school if I needed to, but not elementary. This was just supposed to be for a few months, a year at the most. That damn band director just won't give up his spot, and he's nearing eighty! I don't even teach elementary music, I'm basically just babysitting them until they go to their other classes." He sighed and scratched the back of his head. "I know the job could be worse, though. The kids are annoying and I don't remember the last time I've been able to smell through my nose, but they're good. Kids are always aiming to please the teacher, you know? And there's a great coffee shop nearby. Although sometimes I run into a weird trio there. The faculty's pretty good to work with, too. Not to mention the nurse..." he drifted off and stared at the ceiling. It was hard to tell whether he was blushing or had another fever.

 Yamal Ledokol

"Hey, HEY! Did I just hear something about KIDS?? OMG they're such adorable little creatures!! While it's true that they're prone to misbehave and be unintentionally destructive some time but I don't think it's really fair to blame them? I mean, they are not born with the necessary information of everything they need in order to live their life programmed into their brain like how it is for an android like me. In order to learn and understand, they need to go through trials and errors and be provided with new opportunities to discover the world full of diversity in various ways around them!! It's always nice to experience something new...which reminds me of my own bitterness that I can never travel south enough to see the sea faunas aside from those living in the Arctic region. With the way my reactor operates, I'm afraid I'm going to cause a nuclear catastrophe to the nearest nation if I ever rebel and ignore the safety measure regarding my reactor. Nah, I may be someone who really love science and discoveries but I'd rather curb my own dream of seeing tropical faunas and stay where I belong. Many people feel that nuclear energy is dangerous but I support the motto 'nuclear energy for peace' with my whole heart!"

Ambrosius Caine

"My family roots are in the arctic region, explaining why my fur changes colour depending on the season. I quite like it, it brings nice change and variety to life, but I vastly prefer my winter fur over summer, and kind of wish the winter was longer than it is around where I live. I have visited arctic areas plenty of times in my life but never actually lived in one, and sometimes I wish I could, well, stop being a prince if only for the fact I could live where I want. But that's not something I can do, and probably in the end isn't something I even wanted to if the possibility was actually presented to me; I was raised a prince, and I'd feel bad giving up on those duties while trying to pursue a comfortable life for me and me only."

"Both my sister and my kingdom are two of the most important things in my life, but dear Helewys moreso. I have known her since I can ever remember, and she is everything to me. She will be the next queen, that is more than certain, and so I shall never take the throne—nor sure I wish to. I will support her in all that she does, without fail, but perhaps there is more to my own life than a position upon the throne.

"I have a world to travel, to learn and to know... and in other lands, where none know of me, I can be judged without regard to my station, and told my own flaws for what they are, so that someday I may correct them."

Nicholas Arayes Caine

"I'd... like to travel one day. I have been locked down since I was reaching puberty, and thus my knowledge of the outside world is almost completely limited to books only. I did travel a little as a child, but I don't remember much about it anymore, and I don't want to think those hazy memories of my childhood will remain as my only experiences with the world larger than my library. I like my library despite my confinement, but I think staying in one place and not going out there and meeting people will stunt the growth of your knowledge. And I don't want to stop and remain in one place."

I am also restricted in where I can go, though not as severe as the above case. I can travel but my movements are restricted and I must be accompanied by an escort. They're usually rather boring. Such a shame really. I've never been able to experience winter, or see the leaves change during autumn. No one dares permit me to travel that far. Perish the thought of me ever buying a scarf.

"An escort is probably what I am destined to be, just like my two brothers, if only I'm not assigned to a relatively small fleet that it turns out I'm actually the largest surface ship deployed here. I realize I have a confidence issue regarding being the sole flagship who is a destroyer, while majority of the others are cruisers. That problem aside, I like the Baltic Sea where I'm serving. If I have a free day, Curonian Split is my favorite place and sometimes if I'm lucky enough, I get to collect some amber that washed up from the sea. Such a humble and ordinary hobby for an armament android, isn't it? Being a commander among the ships in a naval base only allows a few free days each year so I appreciate what little de-stress time I have. On the downside it also means I can't really travel any where too far from my base.

There is this one subordinate of mine who acts like a jokester for the entire base but lots of times his pranks or shenanigans went too far and ended up causing me more headache than unwinding me like he had hoped for. He has a good intention but his execution is rather poor. Somebody needs to send him to complete a proper comedian class before he can be allowed to continue his aspiration of being the clown of our fleet."

 Callisto Mariette

"Oh my stars, I hate the pranks the delivery boys play on occasion. You know, just this morning, one of the delivery boys, Oscar, I think it was, that little bastard, came in with some parts that my Papa needed for one of the machines he's working on for a high-profile customer, and he had put a live frog inside the crate! I have no idea how that little worm opened up a crate that's as big as he is, and no doubt twice as heavy, but somehow he got a frog in there. The damn thing hopped right onto my chest when I had pried the lid open, and I swear I almost felt my heart burst out of my chest! My father came in with his rifle thinking someone with ill intentions was inside the crate instead of the parts, but when he saw be fling the frog off of me and across the room, he about died with laughter! I was so embarrassed! I'll have to think of some kind of way to get him back sooner or later..."

"My friends and I in my home town were once up for some mischief and decided we want to explore our school building at night. My friend Kasper was supposed to clean the class and when nobody noticed he left one of the windows unlocked so we could use it later that night. It all went fine at first: it was easy to break in because we knew the window was not locked like it usually was, and nobody saw us going in since the school is in a somewhat remote location. But after a while of walking around and going through closets and discovering a lot of old papers and books we realized one of the teachers was still there! She was doing her work really late at night (I think she was grading the papers for third years) and when she spotted us we ended up sitting two weeks in detention for that..."

yooo so there was one time in high school around Halloween, our school had some scavenger hunt event at night, and it was really dark and stuff. So I dragged my best friend Casanova with me and we starred looking for the stuff on the list, but we also started wandering in places around the school too like three custodian closets and we even went in the forbidden teachers lounge! man they had a carpet and everything, no wonder they didn't like kids in there. Yeah so anyway Casa and I were in the basement and we went in this one closet, but then the door closed behind us and we were locked in! The closet was sooo tiny and I started banging on the door but it seemed like no one was around. Tbh it would have been more interesting to explore the place more and stuff since i had my phone with me to light up the room (the switch wasnt working apparently?) but unfortunately for Casa he was claustrophobic so he started to panic and I got scared for him. I tried everything from picking the lock to finding some shovel thing? Or a mop and trying to break open the door. It probably was another 20 minutes until I heard the handlemove and one of the janitors opened the door and he was so shocked to see us in there so I took Casa's hand and ran out the closet. He was so relieved to be out; I saw the sweat on his forehead, and then he fainted in my arms. Luckily he was light so I can carry him and revive him back, but that was the LAST TIME I try to go exploring in there again ;;

"Y'know what? I can remember the last time I went wanderin' in places I shouldn't have been. It was like, a freakin' week ago. Ya think I'd know better by now, bein' a grown ass man and all, but nah, nah, me and my homies do what we want, when we want.
I'm not gonna act like it ain't fun as hell to swerve off to our old stompin' grounds when we were in school and trash the place, or look for some junk they shouldn't leave out for demons like us to snag. I've never had anything spooky or weird happen like some of you freaks have rambled on about. Not a teacher, a janitor, a drunk guy-- I mean it: nothin'.
But seriously, unlike all of you losers, I don't need no damn spooks, or mind tricks or whatever! I AM the spook! Hah! That's it-- next time I wanna get out and ransack a place with my crew, we're just gonna wait there until some dumb kid comes along doin' the same thing, and jump out at him!
Damn that's hilarious-- ehehehe, you little brats better watch out next time you go wanderin' around 'n all that!!"

Cau Caine

"I have a friend who has an uncanny ability to simply walk and wander from one place to another. And I don't mean in the conventional sense of walking from place A from place B, but rather, walking from place A to place 1 or whatever. To our kind, it's kind of given we can go from one place to another and break the rules of space and place (although I don't know how it works, nor do I usually realize when I have done so myself), but this guy is a simple human in more sense than just one! And yet he still somehow does that, jumps from place to place and ends up in places he in no way should be able to access! And he doesn't even understand it himself, he is perfectly unaware of that. Worst of all I work together with him and that other damn delinquent so I have my hands full every day with those two! At least the other doesn't go from place to place like that, but he... sees things. Very odd things, things even demons usually don't see and it's unsettling me, but it must be even more so to him..."
