Nayru smiled in return, setting the teacups, accoutrements, and the kettle down. "I'm sorry that nothing of importance happened today, I know exactly how that feels..." He made sure everything was orderly and organized, after all, he was talking to someone of high renown: The Dread Siren. The dusky sun began to cross the horizon line beyond the waves, as the water gently rocked the ship. The candle's light filled the room in a warm, orange hue. "I'd also like to apologize on behalf of the Alladax Embassy for me being late today. It's not often you get to visit a ghost pirate, much less be on a ghost ship, and my late departure really doesn't match the excitement I have to speak with you... I do hope the tea will suffice, and if not, I do have some wine onboard my vessel back on the beach if you'd prefer that instead." He sat back onto the wooden chair as it creaked with age, but held in place. Everything about his stature loosened as he relaxed to a more casual state of mind, grinning. "Either way, I would be glad to learn about you, and engage in your customs while I'm here. Do you dance at all?"
He leaned over the coffee table as the movie continued on the CD-player linked to the panoramic television. Between Nayru and the guest sat a few crosswords and sudoku books; on a coaster sat the coffee he had given to his guest.
"Well, today was fine, but the last week has been rough." Nayru sighed. "We visited a ramshackle space colony out beyond the Voltaic Nebula right by Outpost November. It was something my friend Kaz asked me to go investigate, and on the request of the A.E.F. to do the very same thing, I couldn't really say no. Nox, who is my companion and combat medic, went with me, and let me tell you, those colonists had no sense of hospitality! They shot at us with improvised emplacements, dinged up the hull really bad, scratched up the paint..."
He showed the guest the splotch of shortened feathers on his head that he had been covering with an icepack.
"We got it taken care of, but on the way out, I hit my head on the center console. Warp whiplash sent my head right into it. Didn't damage the console, but I hurt my head pretty bad." He took a breath through his teeth. "I've been on sick leave the past few days, haven't really been feeling too good until today..."
He set the icepack back on his head, and leaned back.
"But that's just me. How was your day? Anything cool happen?"
