General Thread for PSAs

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Rikki if it's something that bothers you I def think it's something that should be said.  Personally I would write something to the artist and let them know how you're feeling and that you're uncomfortable.  It might have been an honest mistake on their part.  I don't think you should speak to the buyer before you speak to the artist.

Rikki Maybe it'd be best to grab a few extra opinions from trusted friends (who won't judge for feeling uncomfortable, even if their opinions differ, and who won't go around causing a fuss) and see if it's a personal bias or a "yikes, that's a bit too similar, after all" situation. I have some designs from Very Popular artists that I've noticed somewhat repeated in a few of their sales and it's more of a "that artist has a particular style and taste when designing and they tend to reuse certain elements of body/clothing/accessories very heavily" (whether that's a bad thing or not is an entirely different can of worms I won't open) than "they're selling a rip-off of my design."

However, as Squids said, if you feel strongly about it, definitely let the artist know first and see what can be done. Unfortunately the design's already been purchased so it may come down to politely requesting the buyer to change a few details to differentiate the designs if the artist doesn't cooperate. Best of luck to you.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for minor edits on the chibi if things were really off.  If it was something not clear in the reference provided however then yes I would have considered it rude to ask for changes when it was the commissioners responsibility in the first place.  It also makes a difference if their tos included edits to the pinup or chibi.

I'm at a loss why you're asking about a refund?  The chibi was a free gift add on so there isn't a cost to it to have refunded in my opinion.  You have seen the full piece so I think it's a little early to be thinking of asking for a refund when you've approved the sketch.

Like you said, it is the holidays and they're likely busy, or like me, might have gotten sick.  You don't give much of a time frame from when you last heard from them, just that it's not since they showed you the updated chibi.  That could have been two days or two weeks ago.  It's hard to give advice on it when there are a lot of details that are unclear.

I would be bothered if they hadn't gotten back to me in two weeks, but I can see how they might have been irked since it was a freebie add on.  Leaving it for that long is bad form.

I agree with Rikki that if you're not happy with the chibi then don't put it up and just move on.  I honestly can't give an opinion on the art quality since I have no point of reference.  They might have had a certain level of complexity they were planning on accepting or you might just be more critical since they're your character.  The chibis also might be times and they draw as much as they can withing a 20 minute frame and anything after that is just left out.  I don't think it's a reason to cancel the transaction since you've already seen and approved the sketch and there's no reason to think it won't be completed up to the standards of their usual work.

If you want to back out now then they should be compensated for the price of the sketch/ however much work they have currently put into the final product  and the value of the chibi.  Since you're unsure of the price I would just ask.  If they don't agree to refund you after you've approved the sketch then I'd say they're within their rights since you're canceling the transaction for no solid reason.  They'll likely respond if you're wanting to cancel.

Can I make a PSA on someone thats been going around stealing/ trying to resell ocs that dont belong to them? Previously harassed here etc?

Mutation  Since you're not involved I don't think it's up to you to link the thread here.  If you receive permission then of course that's fine, but since the original poster hasn't given a green light to post elsewhere then it's best to leave things how they are.

I need some advice,, x.x

Someone asked me for me for a custom character design. We made an agreement that they have to send a payment after the sketch of the design is complete.
Despite it being a custom, they didn't give me any specific prompt about the design. The only thing they gave me was specific colors they want so I did a sketch and send it to them for confirmation from them.

They read my note but never give me a reply while still being active. After waiting for a few days I sent them another note, asking if they still want me to finished the design.
Again, they read my note. I thought they were busy so I decided to wait but it's been almost a week now and I still don't get any reply from them while they are being active (buying adopts from other artist, posting new arts, etc.)

What should I do now?

Is it okay to finished the design and put them up for sale? (I'm afraid since the design was meant to be a custom but they didn't give me specific prompt in the first place and they haven't paid for it yet)
or should I contact them again ?

PS.Sorry if the wording sounds confusing! English isn't my native language ; o ; /
