General Thread for PSAs

Posted 7 years, 11 months ago (Edited 5 years, 5 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

I have proof now, if anybody would look at it and tell me if it can be fixed or if this should become some sort of PSA or not? There were at least 10 characters after finding the image proof, but I just want to make sure it's justified if a PSA has to be made. I don't want unnecessary accusation or any issues if worst comes to worst.

Edit: I now have proof that they are looking to profit off of the designs, also provided with the other proof.

Heya sorry for the late reply coz I been quite busy ;; So I believe I already sent DM to people who ping me here! As the conclusion it'd best I have to talk with the artist or the creator of the CS for better explanation! Thank you for your opinion and your help!

Hello! I'm looking for a bit of advice,
I bought two 'surprise custom adopts' (it was kind of like an adopt advent calendar) and a Fullbody commission from an artist back in November, in their journal they wrote they will have it finished by December 10th. (total waiting time would be around two/three weeks)
So when January hit I contacted them to ask about my Adopt/Commission Status. They apologized and promised to finish by January 19th. however they didn't send me any WIP or proof that they started...
I have since then not heard a single thing from the artist.

I tried writing them a note through deviantart but they never opened or read it. The last time they've been logged into dA was 6 weeks ago! Which I found kind of alarming?
I noticed they have both their facebook and instagram linked on their profile, however both links are invalid (deleted sites I assume). I found them on instagram later on under another name, but it's seemed they are even more inactive there. on March 4th I wrote them an email (to their paypal payment address) asking for updates, or a refund since this waiting time is way longer than what I agreed to (it's 4 months now instead of two/three weeks...) but so far there was no response either.

I've been watching them for a long time already and I never saw them as someone suspicious or anything.
I'm just very worried I'm being scammed, and would love to hear someone's point of view in the situation. I can give out their username via PM but I don't want to make it public.

Am I too impatient and should I wait some more, in case they come back/reply? or should I straight forward charge back on paypal??

Doodilies

@Ellissya I'm sorry, I'm inexperienced with these things but definitely file a charge back!! Regardless now, their activity is suspicious and bad as an artist, with no updates for ages I'd definitely say you should. You want to do it before it's too late, I'm sorry this has happened to you ;;;; Best of luck!!!

SquidsInTheAttic

Elissya  Definitely file a chargeback.  If they delete their accounts and go on silent for that length of time that's really not acceptable.  I wouldn't trust that they would get the work done by the time your window to file a chargeback ended.

Elissya

SquidsInTheAttic Doodilies thanks for your advice! I ended up filing a chargeback, hopefully things will turn out in my favor.
I also found out about another user having the same problem with the same artist, and that the artist in fact doesn't have a clean history so I'll probably be making a separate PSA/Beware Thread soon

I'm looking for advice if it's not too much trouble.

I commissioned an artist at the end of August last year for two knee-ups; and while I am a very patient person they didn't really update me much after around November? Which generally I would be okay with because again; I'm a patient person but. They kept saying they had one piece done every time I asked for an update, wouldn't actually give me said 'done' piece, and eventually when I asked for a tos (I'd rather look one over before demanding refunds and such.) they skirted around giving me one when I first asked. The original file for their commissions (google docs) is gone now; and while they have sent me a "finished" piece it's definitely rushed (and it's the one that was supposedly done months ago) I posted out my issues with it and they have yet to respond again.

Before they were responding within a few hours but after voicing my concerns it's been nearly two weeks and I'm a bit stuck on what to do. I'm very. Against filing chargebacks if it can be avoided; but I'm almost certain the time to file one has expired.

**minor edit: please don't message me about this. I'd prefer any responses via thread.

Any ideas on how I should go forth in handling this situation?

blimp

I believe I have enough reason and evidence to at least create a beware thread about this user. I have asked them to remove the characters from their "ufo/uft" folder, they put them in a specific trade folder instead, and refused to make or commission extra art. One character (which they stated I wanted, but I simply used them as an example as they're the most recent transfer), I am banned from, and they have twisted my words to their advantage. I'd like someone to look at my proof and judge whether or not they should have a thread about them. That, or I create a bulletin on them if it's not suitable as a PSA. Thank you.

While I can't say I completely agree with the way you worded your message to them, I do think this is PSA worthy.  They're aware they are getting these characters for free and want to profit off of them.  I think it's in poor enough taste trying to trade for other characters but when they're contemplating money offers I find it especially bad.  If you haven't already I would message the wta/ freebie threads and let them know about this person as well.

blimp

SquidsInTheAttic thank you for your input. I wasn't very sure how to confront them properly, and I also believe I didn't handle everything as well as I should've. Though, I've found compiling evidence that they're also a minor who has drawn nsfw art (multiple pieces, at least 8), and they've had an issue with tracing and heavily referencing art in the past. There is a possibility that they're evading a ban on toyhou.se, but not much information on that. I will be making a PSA as soon as I completely compile the evidence.

Edit: The PSA has been made here, if anything needs to be changed or edited, please let me know!
