General Thread for PSAs

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Edit: moved this to its own thread :o

So by chance i was looking at comms on DA and noticed a comm of a design i created. Curious i clicked and noticed that the person listed was not the person who won the adopt. Curious again, i went to the profile of the original buyer and noticed a selling journal. Curious some more i noticed that the adopt in question which was sold for $15 with 0 extra art was sold to this new person for $50.  Which is against my TOS. It says it on every single adopt that i post that reselling adopts for more than purchased with no extra art, is against my rules. I habe contacted the new buyer but im also concerned that these other adopts they sold are inflated as well.

Ok so they refunded the person but they claim that because they had an emergency it was basically ok????like can someone look at these screenshots because i need to know if im like crazy or something

HellMilk  Would you mind letting me know who it is?  I'd like to know to avoid them.

hexie I'd say cropping it out is your only option, but the new owner might not like that you don't have the original file (I know I certainly wouldn't). I liken this to a situation where the artist has already deleted the image and the owner has somehow lost it. The only option would be to order a new ref or salvage whatever is available.

While the situation is a bit different here, the thrust of it remains the same. An artist not responding to providing the original file is no different in effect from an artist who responds, but has lost the original file.

Either way, your hands are quite tied and I would hesitate to purchase any adopt that didn't have its full size file--it would be difficult for any new owners to prove the legitimacy of their ownership if asked when all they have is the display version (with the apt and copious watermarking, I imagine). Have you informed her you're selling it? If she has some issue with you, maybe she'll relent if she knows you won't own the design much longer. Outside of that slim chance at resolution, though, it would be overall problematic to resell a design like that and I don't think it'd be fair to a buyer unless they're willing to shoulder the burden of badgering the artist for the original file/ordering a new ref.

hexie Then in that case it’d be good to inform the buyer of the complication so they’re aware, but otherwise it’s normally fine to use the display version as it’s still your adopt. I tend to upload display versions in the gallery anyway, and if the display happens to be the full-res, that’s great in this case (though normally I’d consider that terrible practice).

HeavensDoor That's extremely scary and don't know if you would be up to send me the Username of the person (just so I could avoid them as I started to get in the habit of looking at getting characters)

HeavensDoor It's been long enough to warrant a PSA if the edits and additional art still have not been delivered. The basic matter is that an order of x, y, and z was promised, and all you got was x despite paying the price for y and z as well. However, if you're still unsure about PSA-ing, I would like to at least request the name of the artist. Not many adopt artists can command an AB of that price and higher, so if it's someone popular enough to be seen frequently I definitely would like to know to avoid buying from them.

Yako

HeavensDoor I'm about 95% sure I know who you are talking about, and a PSA is warranted but maybe not necessary as they seem to have left the art world altogether. If you could message me the name, and it is who I think it is, I can provide my full story-- but the short version is that I'm out $300 for one of their adopts.

Sleepy-Thunder

HeavensDoor Jeez...I'd love to get their name because I purchase characters all the time. If you feel comfortable doing so. ^^

SpaceHyena

HeavensDoor I would also like to know, as while I don't normally purchase characters that are 100+ I still would want to avoid that person or at least keep note for whenever I am able to afford a character of that pricing.
