General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 1 hour ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Timshel I'd say they should prob make it themself...it's really not great to get involved as a middleman unless there's a legitimate reason for that. Were you able to toss them a code maybe for TH and they could simply put it up on their own?

I'm not gonna namedrop yet, unless I'm told to

There's this artist who opened 1 slot for a painted digital art commission which will be done in a day or two according to their post. They offered $40 for a portrait but they said its fine to negotiate for a waist up, so I did for $60. That was around June 7, 2019.

June 11, 2019 - they sent a work in progress shot then I asked for revisions and suggested a background, they never replied since.
I have sent them messages on both sites they're active in: toyhou.se and deviantart asking for an update Note that, they're fairly active on both sites. Posting on their deviantart often.

I even posted a comment on their profile reminding them that I had sent them a note asking for updates. No response, STILL GHOSTED!
Jump to 1 month later (July 9, 2019) still no response from this artist. I felt scammed ngl so I filed a dispute to paypal (with screenshots of our conversation) as a last resort to get my 60$ back  : /

EDIT: to clarify, my issue isn't that they're taking longer than the promised deadline, I'm a pretty chill and patient person. If they had replied saying they have issues, need more time or can't finish the commission, that's fine I'll understand! but what irks me is how unprofessional they're being by ghosting despite being online and posting their own works so I can't resolve it with them. I only wanted updates, I do not rush an artist to fork over the finished piece that quickly.

EDIT 2: So the artist still hasn't replied, but today ( July 19, 2019 at 7:37pm GMT-7 ) Paypal resolved the dispute and gave back my $60.

Rain-G I feel that's quite beware-worthy since timeframe is irrelevant in this complaint. This is an issue of professional conduct and I would definitely not want to commission an artist who is clearly and undeniably active, but who would rather ghost a customer than fire off a simple response or excuse after missing their own approximate deadline by a wide margin. If you're not comfortable posting a PSA, could I get the name PM'd?

Rain-G

January ah sure, I'll PM you in a bit.

I'd like to add to your post regarding digiphase/flakia/fluxionz.

Another account has cropped up at https://www.deviantart.com/hitoshitotsu.

I heavily believe this is the same person as one of the artists that they've stolen from is the exact same as one recently stolen by digiphase. Not to mention the way they like to "imitiate" WIP shots and forge stories for these adopts. They have a very obvious method by this point and hopefully people can catch on.

I was able to nab proof for this and this, the latter of which has two additional images. They've been archived in case of deletion, as they loveeee doing that. I was able to contact the artist for the second image and confirmed the theft, if there was any doubt.

Mercer Thanks for this! I'll go reorganize the PSA a bit then, since that account is 8 months old and has only just flown onto the radar. I dread to think this will become a larger issue, but serial scammers always become a bigger issue.

January I found it very alarming that it was 8 months old. It's been caught previously and had a deviantart journal made back in Feb (can be found here). It seems like this person cycles through and rotates them out.

I hope it helps!

Mercer Digging through the journals link to more and more accounts with the same method of theft. They're likely all the same person as they do things the exact same way, but I'll keep updating while I have a bit of free time.

You're very welcome! I hope you're able to make more contact with them. If you're able to speak in Japanese, the artist I was able to contact is yomi043. They may benefit from someone who they can speak to outside of google translate.
