PSA/BEWARE: Inquetu [Ghosted]

*heavy sigh* I should have done this sooner but better late than never...

So, let me preface this as not a PSA yet instead a buyer's beware of this artist inquetu. At the time I commissioned this individual she seemed ready to go then was hospitalization. (Suspiciously a little after her slots were filled now that I remember it.) A relative stated he would be answering inquires yet did not. This was confirmed by the artists that I managed to get in contact with through her personal website. An honest oversight if it were addressed six months prior. I do not know how an artist can go for that long forgetting their customers after they recovered. In-between that time until recent I had tried getting in contact with her with no success. Before it seemed she is more active on her social media accounts yet avoided responding to messages sent there.

I do not make a habit of inquiring from artists for updates frequently. No one likes someone over their shoulder, so I try to respect their virtual space. I start to when one of two red flags are raised: passing the two-month time frame without forewarning and a stop in progress after a month from the previous draft. You might think me too lenient but that is just me as a person. Of course, I suspect some people to take advantage of this but not from someone of quality artwork. And like a fool I agreed to let her continue working despite this unacceptable situation that is going the same way now albeit slightly different. Spotty communication, still no draft, lengthening the delay since August 2019...

As of writing I had sent another message informing her that I rescind and to be refunded. No response as yet. If you were someone who commissioned this artist and still waiting I would advise you send an e-mail to request a refund. PM me if the contact form disappears or is unavailable. Another option is to send a money request detailing why if you have time-out on issuing a chargeback. If you were hoping to in the near future pay at your own risk. Keep in mind not just my account but also any others that come forward with theirs.

EDIT: Forgot to include date of when the commission was paid and some clarification.

EDIT 8/5/2020: I also have screen grabs in case the artist changes her statement or inquiring fact-checkers in need of more information.

EDIT 8/10/2020: Refund processed.

I commissioned Inquetu on July 29th 2019, on September 18th I said because I hadn't seen them log into TH for over 30 days that I was going to file a charge back if I did't hear back soon. On October 8th I got the same message that was left by the relative in the thread, but before I could even reply my money had been sent back on paypal so I did get a refund, though honestly would have rather had the art, but understood their health condition wouldn't allow that to be a possibility at the time so I said thanks and moved on.

Inquetu was last active/drawing on Instagram in March of this year, and on Twitter on their main account in June of this year. They have an alternate locked twitter, but I can't tell if that's active or not. They have lovely artwork and I was looking forward to getting art from them but sadly I just don't think they're worth even trying to risk commissioning if they open slots again in the future.

klovni Glad to hear you were refunded in the end. It seem around that time last year I had two artists sudden go silent. Thankfully one out of the two restored connections even attempt to win back good faith and did, at least with me. I hope this turns out the same though am not holding my breath. Just felt the need to blow a whistle on this to anyone who has or has yet to commission.

maybe they have a procrastination issue..? I know i have one, sometimes. But im trying to overcome it now. i know i used to wait to respond to people asking me how its going until im done because im too nervous of being called out for taking too long but now im going to start facing the consequences. ive decided to start replying and sending wips than actually make people wait. but still, if i did it before there's no doubt that they might be doing the same.

EDIT: ALSO POSSIBILITY what if they had memory issues?? maybe they had a serious injury with their head??

Rikki I apologize, I have a bit of a habit of putting myself into the shoes of people being accused because I feel I know how traumatizing it must be to have a PSA made on you.  I'm sorry for seemingly trying to invalidate the post, this was not my intention, my only intention was to hopefully decrease any possible hate that might arise about that person. I understand now I should have not stepped in as it wasn't my place. I agree with what you've said that they should finish their job because they're being paid for it, and additionally I do think I should add I feel maybe they shouldn't accept commissions if they know they can't finish them.

ShadowDarespark having had a bad PSA written about me before when I was younger, I understand it's stressful and nobody wants to be called out for bad behavior, but nobody in this thread said anything particularly rude or hateful, just facts. If someone is taking money for a service and not providing that service, others need to be warned about it. You seem like a very caring person but the people in the PSA boards can come defend their own actions if what's been written about them bothers them, and you speculating reasons why they have failed to deliver a promised service is not helpful.

klovni I see that now, It was pretty wrong of me to rudely step in and assert myself and my thoughts. Excuse me, and I'll make sure I try not to do this again! I just enjoy trying to help out both sides of the argument is all! Again, apologies for the unnecessary opinion! I'll see myself out.
