I never thought I'd have to do this nor had I wanted to, but given the situation I feel there's little other choice.

Back on September 16th, I commissioned the user Azhakuiin for a chibi and a fullbody.

On September 28th, I was sent a sketch of the chibi and satisfied, I gave the okay to continue. 10 days passed after that with no word, so I texted them to see how things were going. On October 1st I recieved a text back saying they'd thought they sent it, but must not have and sent me the finished chibi. They also mention having been working on several sketches for the fullbody, which they would work on getting to me.

On the 14th of October, I text them again inquiring about the progress of the sketches. On October 17th, I get a response from them saying they had a medical intervention and hadn't been able to be on in a few days. They then send 2 unfinished sketches to show progress and say they'll be trying to work through their commission schedule this month.

I responded saying I loved the second sketch and I hope they get well soon.

They still haven't viewed my response to this day, and that was the last contact we had. They haven't been active on TH since then according to their stats.

After a month of silence, I started getting anxious so I messaged them on deviantart, saying who I was and that I wanted to check in. That message also hasn't been viewed.

On December 10th, after seeing some activity on their Twitter, I messaged them there saying mostly the same thing. That also hasn't been viewed.

I messaged them again on the 28th, after seeing some activity in their likes, but also no response.

So as a last ditch effort, I sent them an email on Dec 30th saying that basically I'd tried to contact them numerous times and if they can't complete the art then I would take a refund. I also mention if they don't respond, I will file a dispute.

Though, what I didn't realize when writing that, is the money was sent via friends and family, which means I cannot dispute it.

So seeing as they haven't responded to the email either, it just means I'm out of luck. So instead of the dispute, I figured I'd make this.

Edit 1/04/2022: I was encourage to put this psa on artist beware, so I was requested to contact the artist one last time to prove no communication. I emailed them, no response again. I will be tweeting them directly to see if that gets a response.

I've also been waiting on a chibi commission from this person. I sent them a DM inquiring about my comm back in November as I've been waiting since September. It has still been unread.

At first I thought that maybe they where busy with irl stuff as I did not see any activity on all their other socials but I might have to rethink this as the lack of communication has made me nervous.

Edit: i payed through goods and services so i have until March to file a chargeback.

No, they didn't ask me to specifically. I just wasn't aware that I wouldn't be covered if I sent it that way back then, so that part is on me unfortunately.

I don't know a lot about these things, so I'm not sure if I could do that?

Yeah i DMed them on Twitter a few hours ago and haven't heard back but if they respond i'll let you know ^^

At first their where pretty responsive but after the 21st of September they went silent on me without any warning after i had confirmed the payment was sent.

I would contact Paypal and tell them the person had you send it through friends & family to try and dispute it.

Huh, I was able to contact them up until October 17th. They haven't even logged into toyhouse since October, so I think twitter is the only way they'd see it at this point. They posted on Deviantart with some personal art in early November, but haven't seen anything there since.

Yeah, it was a mistake on my part and I'm aware I likely won't get my money back unless by some miracle I get in touch with the artist. That's partially what spurred me to make this post. If I can't get my money back, at least I can kind of put the word out there or something.

Oh no I commissioned this person for a chibi too ): I was wondering why I haven’t heard from them for so long, I checked their last TH login and it confirmed my suspicions.

Thankfully I’ve paid via goods and services so depending on how this thread goes I’ll file a chargeback. Ty for the PSA!

Yeah, I'm really doubting I'll hear back from them but I'll definitely keep you updated! I'd definitely try to start the chargeback process soon if you could! Since you commissioned them not long after me, you only have a few weeks to do it

Hello! I managed to get a refund by contacting her twin on twitter! Uhhh a bit reluctant to refer everyone to him since that means he would get hounded by refund inquiries, but I literally don't see any other way to contact Azha (I tried everything. Toyhouse, email, twitter, etc) other than directly filing a chargeback.

I commissioned Azha on Oct 3rd for a couple chibi and didn't hear back ever since. I popped in again on Oct 15th with a question for the sketch since I was told she'd do it right after receiving payment which I sent on the 3rd (Title: Commission), and that note was opened but ignored (you can see since the message is not blue anymore). I messaged her again on Dec 8 (Title: Commission question) and that one was left unopened. I also emailed Azha on Dec 9th but no reply there too

I started seeking her out on other social medias in hopes to get into contact on Dec 9. Azha was active as can be seen from her twitter likes activity. After I sent her the DM, her activities ceased which led me to believe she was aware of my messages and knows me by name whether it be from seeing my previous attempts to contact her, etc. That message was unanswered. Her likes activity picked back up after her twin refunded me.

I saw Azha linked her twin on their bio and... while I was reluctant to do it since I didn't wanna cross boundaries, I decided to just go through with it and contacted him. He told me that ~~Azha is~~ ~~sick with vomits that worsens with stress when worried about money~~ EDIT: their twin is stating that their sickness worsens with stress, but meant to relay if YOU were worried about money, that they would pay it back. -@Rikki below! and though I sympathize with that, there was no intention from Azha to get into contact with me herself to discuss about my commission despite me mentioning my willingness to still wait if Azha would be open to start contact with me again. So I just pushed for a full refund (not to the twin, but he then offered in lieu of me opening a chargeback case via paypal) which I accepted
- Regarding the edit yes english is not my first language but also I immediately read it as "Something that worsens with stress If you are worried about money. I offer myself to ... being late?" Instead of "Something that worsens with stress. If you are worried ... being late?" due to the message's lack of punctuation (full stop) hefgjs but how Rikki said it does make more sense. Edited, sorry about that!

Replying to below (@Necrovoyance) as mobile goofed up and won't let me make a new comment but valid! I had to get in contact with Azha for mine since the reference link i sent her no longer worked and I wanted to either give her an updated link or ask for a character change, but it became glaringly obvious she wasnt up for communicating so I decided the best course for me would be to push for a refund which i had no thoughts of enforcing when contacting her initially.

Though i considered enforcing chargeback, her twin offered to refund me instead during our chat. Since he was in immediate contact with azha i decided to accept instead of opening a case.

I hope you and the others will be able to get your refunds or arts!!

Thank you so much for the information! I do feel bad since she mentioned back in October having medical issues, but honestly all this could have just been avoided if she just communicated more.

I feel like it's causing more stress for everyone by her avoiding all of us. I'll consider contacting the twin for a refund, but I also don't want to put any financial strain on her at the moment if she's sick nor do I want to make her twin pay for it since mine was like, $35.
