Deathfox45 changed his paypal email today so be cautious of that

And contacting paypal it said that the financial institution gave the verdict not paypal and can't do anything about it besides take it to court .

Also there is suspicions of deathfox45 having a new account. Putting it under spoilers as there's no definite proof at the moment

FA account: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/ashennite/ Their favs are the same but idk, will keep an eye on this. Here the message with info:

exclamation_by_drawn_mario-d9us3ja.png November 21, 2017 Update:
We both lost our case and lost -$20USD for the chargeback dispute fee.

One of us received no reason as to why we lost with no notification. https://prnt.sc/hdlvwf

After trying to contact paypal over on twitter for an update, one of us didn't win her chargeback case  Paypal closed it stating she doesn't apply for seller's protection; paypal never sent over the proofs to the card company about authorized payment. https://image.prntscr.com/image/5qm4voJkTEKT6EWp_fFSmQ.png

5qm4voJkTEKT6EWp_fFSmQ.png

But stated in their faq ( https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/what-is-a-chargeback,-and-why-did-i-get-one-faq2036 ), paypal doesn't decide the outcome of chargeback disputes though and the card company should so will bother them over it. (Lesson learned do not ask for help on their twitter; they ignore you)

Some artists did get their money from paypal after calling. http://prntscr.com/hco74y kio_sjRuQOSLuWumL55lEQ.png

Some other artists did not win their case despite calls and proofs, and received a message, "we'll only open an investigation if more people come forward. Your ticket is closed now" So please file a ticket if you don't win the chargeback.

Also one artist stated when their case was closed, that they (not the artist) didn't check proofs before making the decision as there were no views on the stash link proof provided; this may be both paypal and the card company as paypal is supposed to review the dispute before waiting for the buyer's response.

We got hit with 2 chargebacks due to an adopt buyer who bought multiple adopts from us in the past decided to well take back their money.

Due to this user scamming so many artists including us, we are putting him on our permanent blacklist and hope other artists or adopt buyers not fall prey to his scams.

Who:

http://www.furaffinity.net/user/deathfox45/

  • Note: user has voluntarily disabled account after receiving various shoutouts from artists he has scammed, so it's difficult to get proper proofs.

Where:

Furaffinity

What:

Scamming Art

Our Case:

Deathfox45 has purchased the following adopts and received files from us on Furaffinity (Bunnilicious 30-31 & Cat Fishy )

Bunnilicious 30-31 (Re-OPEN) by RumCandyAdoptCat Fishy (RE-OPEN) by RumCandyAdopt

Two of the adopts are uploaded on his account affirming he did receive the files web.archive.org/web/2017111610…

And on November 17, 2017 we received a chargeback on both of our paypals, amounting to $140 total despite the buyer receiving files.

As a result, we have to put up back these adopts for sale. ;u; we hope they find new good homes.

Here are some other artists who have been affected

AND there are so many more artists out there affected. Please help them out as well and give them a boost.

If you'd like to be added just let us know!

Please share this journal

Or any crossposted version DA https://sta.sh/013tt51197xq & FA http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8502513/

and keep an eye out on these adopts/art.

We're rather afraid that this user may assume another account and resell artists' works and scam other buyers or artists.

But please do not harass the user. (We don't think you can though as he disabled his account)

This PSA is only a warning to those who may deal with this user in the future.

Short of all-out litigation and hiring investigators to track the user down and hit him with a grand larceny charge given the total amount of money stolen from artists, it's doubtful anyone will get their money back, especially if Remivalism's suspicions about credit card fraud are true. PayPal tends to fall on the buyer's side in disputes and if it is a fraudulent transaction case, PayPal's policies for seller protection do not cover digital goods. ("The item sold must be a physical, tangible item that can be shipped. This means intangible items such as digital goods and services aren’t covered.")

On top of chargeback fees.

I'm so sorry to hear of yet another prolific scammer case. There's really no (legal and reputable) way to protect yourself against this kind of scam either, as payments will all go through until they're suddenly charged back some weeks later. I have heard of times when PayPal has sided with the artist over the buyer, so I really wish good luck for everyone affected.

@remivalism January

Apparently its a family card so it might be a kid who used their parents card but not quite sure as it sounds like not  www.furaffinity.net/view/25457187/#cid:124504974 (idk if u can view cuz its on mature setting) but one of the user got their money back, a few artists got their PayPal account frozen because of the dispute though so they cant send or receive payment i believe while its going on. So they made a new paypal.

and yeah there isnt a way to protect from this scam as yeah paypal doesnt provide protection for digital good. So just doing our best atm to get things through and pray for the best...

I actually cannot see that link, but if it's information regarding the progress of recovery, it would be good to update the first post with it.

As for one artist already getting their money back, that is wonderful news to hear. Hopefully PayPal will notice that the current spam of issues originates from one problematic user and resolves the rest of the disputes in an equally satisfactory way.

Psst you might want to either crop or not include the kiwikorgi image because NSFW.

feather--weather and oops forgot about that. thank you for that. I put the thumb in a spoiler with a warning above it

That is one thing I'll note. Always call on top of filing the appropriate evidence into the dispute online. Human interaction tends to go better than hoping someone reading over a screen will care enough to investigate further and give you your money.

Updated this thread!

January yeah has to call them tomorrow since they screwed me over when just asking for an update over twitter, ignoring me and closing my case.

Good thing I didn't have my partner contact them online through twitter as she has a bigger dent than me over these chargebacks, but wanted her to update her proofs before calling them but twitter looks like not the answer >.<"

Yue

Hi Rumcandy, did you ask what evidence the artist who got the money back sent?

RumCandy

And updated the thread again. The buyer changed his paypal email today
I checked in to paypal on phone and they said I couldn't do anything about it besides take it to court and can't open a ticket because the case got closed. So we're out of luck here.

Yue he just sent screenshots
