What do you think of my Plylym concept so-far?

So I've been fiddling around with this concept for a day or so, and I went ahead and made a mock up of a basic CS description image, and I wanted to see what people thought of it...?

BASICALLY, I was talking with a couple of my friends about their favourite closed species, and how THEIRS really ping on some of their absolute favourite character types and traits. And in this discussion, I realized that there wasn't actually an existing CS that I knew of, that SUPER DUPER captured my heart and mind. So I thought, 'what are MY favourite character traits in an OC or a closed species?' And I used a Kariosa_Adopts base to whip up a simple mock-up of the concept!

My BASIC idea is that they're emotion-eating, androgynous little demons with a penchant for deception and manipulation! :0 They're relatively evenly split on prevalence of one sex over the other, but Plylym don't have secondary sex characteristics like breasts because they're not the breeding portion of the population. I haven't finished creating the mock-up for what a Plilith looks like, but they're BASICALLY like the Queen Bee types as compared to the Plylym 'Drone' population, in the sense that they're bigger, stronger, more violent, and have secondary sex characteristics such as breasts.

What do you guys think? They're DEFINITELY a case of 'Zeda's indulging all of her personal preferences,' but I thought, 'hey! That's what makes CS so fun, right?' I'd like to create something that I enjoy!

UPDATE! [11/05]:

I cleaned up some scans of my concept art for Plylym, AND I finished sketching out my concept for what the Plilith would look like! While I was speaking with my friend @hexen-breaker about some ideas, she suggested the possibility of a Plylym's appearance being further modified or effected by the type of emotion that they gorge themselves on. That is to say- do they prefer the taste of rage? Maybe bliss? Wouldn't it make a lot of sense if the more well-fed ones end up becoming stronger? I'm not sure where to take that idea yet, because although horns and wings were suggested as potential 'power up' additions to their designs, this is a species that relies on its ability to go incognito amongst mortals, and I'm reluctant to have a 'power up' be something that's purely cosmetic. In my sketch below, here's a thought: the more well-fed ones grow more powerful, and perhaps their hair can also take on the liquid, malleable qualities of their blood for the purpose of combat? That, and/or the addition of more eyes to their body motifs?Let me know what you think!

UPDATE! [11/14]:

Work has been VERY SLOW-GOING for the past week or so, since I suddenly got really sick. BUT, just the other day I FINALLY felt okay enough to start working again, and I decided that I'd begin by creating my own base for the standard Plylym! The following three designs are still works in progress, but I'm hoping for them to be the first three Plylym that I make available for adoption! ♥ I'm definitely going to make off-base adopts as well, but this is me just kinda getting my toes wet, so to speak! It's my intention to provide both unclothed designs [so that you can see the tattoo markings both activated and not-activated] AND clothed designs, but here's the thing - I want them to be as versatile as possible, so that they can fit more easily into a variety of RP and world settings, so I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with outfits that will let them slip into ALL SORTS of settings. I've also been picking my friends' brains for suggestions and ideas, and I've got at least one Pinterest board FULL of ideas, so-! If you guys have any suggestions for fashion inspiration, or ideas about what kind of world settings you'd prefer to place them in, please let me know! ♥

Oh Jesus, I honestly love the concept of these???? SO MUCH??? I'd looove to be notified when a batch come out or something, if that's alright! I'm super excited about them. ; - ;

Zeda

Sans-Ailes AAA, I'm so glad that you like them so-far!! /;v; I'll HAPPILY keep you informed as I keep working on them! ♥ I'm trying to balance my 'go ahead and MAKE SOME' enthusiasm with the tougher logistics stuff, but I feel like I should be able to at least begin working on a handful of designs sooner rather than later! ♥♥♥

Sans-Ailes

Yesss, thank you, ahaha! I'm really hyped for these, ahaha! <3 I adore them, honestly. ; w ;
I'm just hoping I can snatch at least one up when the time comes djskahdas all their traits are things I didn't even realize I needed on one single CS, but omfg, I love all of them and the general lore concept on them. ; w ; <33
They're super cool!! I'll keep my eye out for any updates! <333

Added some additional concept sketches and ideas to the thread! /;v; I would REALLY appreciate any thoughts you may have! ♥

HI HELLO I AM DOWN FOR THIS??? I love the lore and just overall design concept?? I especially love the idea of them eating various different emotions anD I JUST LOVE THE PLILITHS AAAA ♥Q♥. I am 100% down to snag an adopt or even a MYO slot if that's a possibility in the future?

I have a few questions! Does or can the emotion(s) they consume affect their own? For example when they devour sadness do they get sad in turn? Or does/can it affect their personalities? So if one prefers eating sadness, they're gloomy all the time? And how exactly do they disguise themselves? Do they merely cover up or can they physically change their appearance (not in extreme ways I imagine, just basically masking their nonhuman traits)? And from the poll above, does that mean Plylyms and Pliliths cannot be in different body types? Like no buff ones at all?? Hope these questions aren't too much! :'''D

Zeda

chiliechii /;0; I'm so glad that you like them so-far!! ♥ I'm having a LOT of fun working on the concept, and I'm still trying to figure out the answers to questions like these, so let's see here... Generally speaking, I think that their function as a species is to consume the energy that other beings exude when expressing or experiencing strong emotions, and it might make it harder for them to manipulate negative feelings out of people if they were to end up being too strongly overtaken by the negative emotions that they create. Maybe the more empathetic or less cruel ones can be more strongly effected by the emotions they eat, and end up preferring positive emotional output such as gratuity and affection? I think that giving them a general 'they're aware of and can maybe experience an echo of the emotions they're consuming, but your mileage may vary on the degree to which it actually effects each individual' gives more room for RPers to play with different character types, from sadistic to sympathetic!

As for the disguises, I started out thinking 'they'll wear gloves and scarves!' but I've had friends point out that something like that may limit their fashion options quite a bit [an all winterwear species...;], or make them easy to spot if a mortal knows what type of physical traits to be wary of. Their eyes fill up with the colour of their blood when their magic is in use, which makes me think that they may not be able to use their magic to conceal their markings- but let's say that they have the ability to hide their TATTOOS at least, when they're not involved in combat? Maybe that'd be something more akin to cuttlefish camouflage, in theory- like it doesn't require magic, so much as a natural camouflaging ability that helps them to hide their marks at will. That way, they're left with just the pointy ears and limb stains - and it's a LOT easier to dress a character in a variety of clothing options when all you need are socks and gloves, or to say that they grow their hair longer around the ears so that people don't notice them much. I also feel like it might make for more of a fun challenge, in RP scenarios, if they can hide the tattoos readily and maybe the stains with more effort, but there's always at least one tell that they have to actively avoid showing to people.

And the FINAL question- I was really thinking of this as being a species with more of a matriarchal power structure, where females would be the dominant and more aggressive sex across the board. SO, I thought that Plylym in general would be androgynous and a little on the short side, and that Pliliths would be noticeably different in scale and strength. THE THING IS, I LOVE DRAWING BUFF DUDES, TOO XD;; So, this is a really fair question that you're asking! I've been thinking about it, like 'there's no reason that Plylym can't become more muscular or take on a more masculine physique,' so I think there's probably room for a buff or overtly masculine Plylym design, even though they'd still be fairly short. [And frankly, given their androgynous anatomy, there's also plenty of room for a Plylym to pursue a more masculine physique and presentation regardless of their sex, so this CS could lend itself well to trans characters, both ftm and mtf? But that's a totally different thought]

Adding to this what @hexen-breaker brought up- That's a really fascinating suggestion! I'd have to brainstorm on it and see how I would make it work- but here's an idea! Maybe Plylym are the majority of the species, and Plilith are slated to be Pliliths from birth, so there's no 'Plylym > Plilith' growth or conversion process. But maybe Plylym can, on rare occasions or under special circumstances [like access to the glut of emotional power output related to wars, disasters or tragedies] gain enough power to eventually augment their appearance in a way that extends beyond the typical 'just get buff' and goes into 'you can also get TALLER!' So that way, through RP circumstances or careful, deliberate action on the part of the individual Plylym, they can eventually 'grow up' into a stronger demon? I'm not sure how I'd handle the logistics of that, so far as like... determining how or if a Plylym owner might be able to officially convert their Plylym into this higher, rarer tier type. I'm not really sure how I'd go about that, tbh... maybe they'd end up being a species subset that I'd introduce and implement at a later time?

Ooooo I like the camouflaging thing! AND IN ALL HONESTY I LOVE GIRLS SO FEMALES BEING THE DOMINANT ONES IS FINE BY ME, I LOVE IT. Everything sounds super great so far! My excitement rose up even more aaaa, I can't wait! >w>;;

Fatgum

Oh jesus I'm bumping this because I love these demons? You're absolutely right when you say that there's no existing species that has these traits! I cannot wait until you get these up and running!

Zeda

Caleb Thank you so much for the bump! /;v; ♥ I'm still working hard on the concepts and art for these, and it's REALLY NICE to hear that you like them so-far! ♥♥♥

I love this idea????
