Basics about Star Glider:
The Star Glider are an interstellar alien race, which are born by and feeding on dying stars. They take on the appearance of manta rays and "swim/fly" through space. Considering that they are born in darkness and without anyone's support, they soon after birth develop a deep craving for company. To overcome this problem, they developed a unique solution long ago; the Star Glider have learnt to adapt and morph their bodies to fit whatever environment their chosen company needs to live and survive. They are, in fact, an organic space ship!
To communicate with other races and species, they usually use a mixture of vibrating telepathy, very similar to telepathy. Out in space, they focus more on the telepathy part, whilst they use common whale sounds in fixed atmospheres.
As already stated, their ability to adapt and morph their bodies into different environments has little to not limits. They can create an entire landscape inside of themselves, or perhaps just an aquarium. Usually, however, they stick to more spartan version of what one would usually see on the home planet of the chosen company's species.
Whilst they're able to host whomever they meet, they are also capable of enjoying the company of objects and intelligence out of their made-up habitat. They easily pull meteors and asteroids with them with their own magnetic field as well as attract other alien species by their telepathic nature. Whilst the Star Glider probably won't ever meet anyone of their own kind in their whole life considering the vast size of space, they're still likely to find friends and symbiotic relationships very soon.
