1. New Beginnings

So, it was finally time. Time for me to head to the human world and find my identity.

I wasn’t a little sprout anymore; I was almost in my adult years already. My identity trial had been postponed until now because, well… I was fine living the way I was in Griffia. But I think that, once you grow up enough, you may start seeking for a deeper purpose for life.

Preparations should be done, then! My old bag was so worn, I wanted to get myself a brand new one. It didn’t need to have a different design, but I was thinking of maybe revamping it a bit… Instead of a backpack, turning my ol’ reliable into something more practical. That sounded nice.

My first stop was the goodies shop, I would need sewing tools and fabric. I had brought my old bag with me just so I could compare the fabric colors and then purchase the same colors; I really, really liked how it looked. It’s just that I was a bit afraid the ol’ reliable could get ripped after so much use, and taking it to the human world with me?  Definitely not safe.

I was attached to that bag as if it were a pet of mine.

In a buying spree, I wound up purchasing a sewing machine instead of only sewing materials, but the spent coins would surely show their worth in long-term. With my new sewing machine and fabric rolls all cozy inside a big box, I headed back to the daycare I lived in.

To be honest, I had no experience in sewing, so that was a little new to me. I took some time figuring it out, but since I was very capricious at heart, I had a gut feeling my new bag would turn out awesome. And then, the ol’ reliable could finally get her so deserved retirement.
It was funny, remembering how that bag kept me company for so many years, and now I was getting a new one to be with me during this new big and important step of my life. Was that part of growing up? Leaving some things behind as you move on into the future.

Geez, that was really cheesy, I laughed to myself. It wasn’t a matter of abandoning old stuff, but renewing those instead! Yes, I could go with that idea.

It took me some days and some failed attempts to make a new bag, but in the end I finally did it! I made it into a fanny pack, so I could move around without having to worry on my arms and shoulders being restrained by its belt. My clothes were usually a little fancy looking, but truth is I really liked rough actions, like hiking and climbing.
Something I should maybe look into once I was in the human world was to perfect my parkour skills, while I was at it, hmmm…

Okay, now the next step was to get some food for my voyage, so I would have some guaranteed nourishment for a while, I don’t think I’ll be able of making money right out of the bat in the human world.
In the end, I decided to head to a grocery store and then use the rest of my coins to buy enough food that would fit into my bag. I looked around for food that would last longer, and settled with a wide variety of instant foods, these were easier to do, usually cheaper and very nice in my opinion. So I could afford more than enough for one week, I didn’t really eat much.

And now, on to the next step: visiting the magician bean, Fabian. My journey was about to begin, but it would all start with him and his magic. So I did just that, and headed Fabian’s place.

Introducing myself, I told him it was time for my identity trial to begin since I was finally feeling ready to go, and even though I had dropped by last time, he kind and promptly offered me one of his magical cookies, carefully explaining its effects while he led me to the portal’s opening.

Waving Fabian goodbye and saying words of thanks, I ate the cookie and faced the open portal, ready to depart.
