Jax's upbringing

Jax grew up very sheltered, leaving him to be a quiet, reserved person who only focused on his studies.

From a young age his parents ensured he would focus only on his studies; he went to pre-school where they wanted him to excel, then of course went to school, high school, college and university and finished them all. The parents were so focused on him being well educated and excelling that he never really got a social life. The ‘best’ of his social life was when family would come to visit, or even friends of the family, and he would have to talk to everybody and also play the violin and piano. Sure enough he had friends of sorts in school but never saw them outside of the classroom. If invited around for dinner he would decline and state he had to study, which he did, so it wasn’t an excuse at all.

Instead of proper gifts he would just be given educational things from anatomy skeletons (yea) to books and whatever else was educational. Mainly books though which is why he enjoys reading. He did find reading to be fun so didn’t mind it too much. Plus he was so sheltered that he didn’t know that he should have been more social.

In High school he was pretty much the same until a group of kids tried to get him involved in things, letting him become more open and social by far. He was coaxed into being social by them and by the time he left high school and went to college it was like he had always been a social being. Of course his confidence sky rocketed and eventually he made that one mistake of trying sex at sixteen, to which still haunts him to this day in the form of a teenager.

As a person when he was a kid, he was very reserved and shy as he wasn’t allowed to be overly social, though wasn’t nervous at all. He was just formal and pleasant, posh almost, as were his parents. They wanted him to be a proper gentleman. As well as studying he had to play violin and piano as mentioned, while also learning things beyond his year in school, as well as cursive writing, calligraphy, chess, languages, things like that. Anything that would make him brainier. They also had him go to after school activities that involved things like chess, science, languages etc.

In the end he got his Ph.D in biology, though during his university time he had to cope with abandoning his family. He basically started to realize that his parents were very unfair in many ways of not letting him flourish with his social life, secluding him and all that, and so up and left home when he was eighteen. He enjoyed being social and didn’t want to be, basically, their perfect child any more. He wanted to be free of their bonds and so just left one day, going to live in a place of his own.

After he left home he became the confident person we still see today, though lots of his old ways are ingrained in his mind, such as being polite and proper, speaking well never swearing, and generally being pleasant… Well, to the public that is.

Needless to say he holds a grudge against his parents and refuses to let them know where he is.
