Nino had a nice, quiet life growing up, and that's the way he liked it. Others would normally see his nose buried in an interesting book, or helping out in his family's garden tending the flowers. He didn't have many friends when he was younger, and he was alright with that. He preferred the peace and quiet over a loud group any day. He was thankful for all the alone time he had. He was able to do things he wanted when he wanted to do them. Nino was able to spend a lot of time with his family, and learned at a young age that he enjoyed caring for flowers. The friends he did have often got flower crowns from him as a gift.

During middle school, Nino became known as the guy who was in a relationship with books and flowers. Others would tease him about his passions. He didn't let it get to him, or at least he tried to not let it get to him. He became more quiet and only opened up to those who showed an interest in his passions. He loved talking about ways to care for flowers, or the new most interesting book. He'd often debate theories and head canons with his friends. One day during lunch, Nino was enjoying his food when a loud noise frightened him. He yipped out of habit, and immediately regretted it. He's always barked when he gets spooked, and was doing a good job not letting anyone at school know about it. He was soon given the nickname Bark and pretty much everyone only called him that. He hated the nickname.

By the time he got to high school, Nino had gotten use to the nickname. He wouldn't admit that he actually somewhat liked it. One day while Nino was walking through the hall with his nose in a book, he bumped into Dax, one of the well known jocks at the school. He didn't know what it was, but there was something about Dax that he liked. After the little run in, Nino would often hang out with Dax and they'd talk about their interests with each other. They became close friends throughout high school, and others would often tease that they were dating. Dax decided he was tired of the rumors and finally asked Nino out. Nino agreed and the two have been happily together ever since.
