This story was written by LovelyChronos! Made for an art trade from a long time ago that I never got around to posting because laptops break down. I really love this story a lot and LovelyChronos is a very good writer! She has a lot of interesting characters so definitely check out her profile. It's a short story of Mayu meeting a new friend.

Sitting in the corner of the classroom, Mayu had her hands covering those large ears of hers, her heart thumping in her chest at the feeling of dread that shot through her. This was like every other time. Every time she tried to be friends with everyone else, they turned the cold shoulder to her and iced her out.

She was alone. She was so very alone. The thought never occurred to her until this moment. Mayu had no friends, no one wanted to be her friend and those who tried to get close to her, almost immediately, abandoned her when they realized what she was. It wasn’t her fault nor was it fair that she was being treated this way.

At this point, this revelation was enough to cause the young kitsune-human hybrid to feel like the world around her was crumbling around her. She lived in a cold dark and unforgiving place. Her bright mint green eyes darkening as the little pearls of tears threatened to run down her cheeks. With a sniffle and a soft sob, she felt them finally roll down her cheeks.

Jumping out of her skin at feeling the presence of another, large wings shadowing her from the warmth of the sun and blocking out the light. Right before her, a white haired and blue eyed child, she had the biggest white wings that seemed to fade into a light gold towards the tips.

She was a tengu. A pureblooded tengu.

“Are you okay?” the tengu child asked as she knelt before Mayu and wiped away her tears with a small hum.

Through her lashes, she was able to see the white haired tengu, a part of her wondered if she was even talking to her and if her lonely mind was playing a cruel trick on her. After all, no one wanted to be her friend. No one wanted to be near her, yet this tengu, one that was pureblood and everything - someone that could be considered royalty was talking to her.

“Are you okay?” the tengu repeated herself once more, those sweet golden eyes focused on her tear streaked face and her head cocked to the side in confusion. It was a surprise and Mayu still was in disbelief that such a pure being wanted to talk to her. Sniffling once more, she nodded hesitantly as she closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath. “I-I’m fine.” the stuttered out answer was the one thing she could muster and it was enough to have her mentally kick herself for it.

This made the tengu frowned. “You’re lying.” a very blunt and short to the point response, a part of Mayu thought that she would strike her, but instead she felt the tender hands of the child’s hands brush against her face. “If you were okay, you wouldn’t be crying.” the being spoke softly as she wiped away the tears much like a mother would. That very fact wanted to make Mayu cry out once more, but she didn’t. Her small body hiccuping as she stared at the white haired girl with big round eyes.

“A-And you are?’ Mayu managed to ask, which had the ethereal and benevolent being grin from ear to ear. “My name is Mitsuki, Suki for short!” “M-My name is Mayu.” it was short and right to the point, since no one else bothered to learn her name except for Mitsuki.

Then she heard the words that she thought she would never thought to hear. “Do you want to be my friend, Mayu?”
