Rani the marbleized tawny lioness who is one of the prides shamans enjoys dressing up in her “costume” every year.She enjoys her mysterious yet adorable costume and loves that it represents her connection to the spirits.Rani has a tendency to be unique with everything she does and while she creates her “costume” she hums songs of the festivals.The night before Halloween she goes out and collects bright wild flowers, berries, and clays. She crushes them up and adds small amounts of water while mixing them up the firefly blood thus creating bright neon war paints. Rani then paints on her face a beautiful skull and her spine is skeleton bedazzled with intricate patterns.Her various paints of yellows,greens,blues, and reds offsets her from any other lions in the prides. At the festival she aids her ritual partner with his paints and the two dance in the moonlight in honor of the guardians Taa Safi and Chuki Safi.
