JOURNEY TRAIL

♦ Vitalus: Your party sets out at the gates of the Silver Province and extends from there downwards through Nepte's caverns - from there, you'll venture through the forest of Ebrus and end your trial with a trek over the salt flats and into the famed white city of Hoius. One of the longest trails for the Journey Trial, this venture takes most reoseans 10-13 days.

“How sure are you we didn’t miss the river branch we wanted to follow? Everything looks so different with all the snow that came down last week”, a Tyrian named Poseidon asked his Travelmate. Being good friends for a long time, Dragomir hadn’t needed to think very long about joining his friend on such a trip they were on right now. About a quarter moon earlier they had asked the experienced traveler Flamingo for help, as he had often taken the route they were now following before and they had been very thankful for the advice he gave.

The last few days they had mostly spent hunting down smaller prey to take with them as proviant, having a lot of fun even before they started off southwards.

Yesterday they had then finally started after waiting out the snowstorms and were very happy about that decision as the landscape turned out to look enchanted, as the sun reflected from the fresh powder snow. For the whole first day, they had followed the vayron trail through the hills around Flamingo, until they reached the river, near which they slept under a big, old oak, before continuing to fly down the river starting early this morning, as of today's stage they had planned to be the longest one. Now it was nearly getting dark again and both Dragomir and Poseidon were exhausted, after only taking a short break at noon. So the thought of maybe having missed the junction where the river flowed to the southeast made both nervous.

“We should better find a safe place to rest for the night because there won’t be enough sunlight left to find the junction and a place to rest.”, Dragomir answered the question after thinking about it for quite a long while. In most situations, he would be the less thoughtful of the two, but never having taken a trip like this before he was just as worried about their wellbeing as Poseidon. The later one nodded his head and made an agreeing sound, just before lowering his flying altitude so he could look out for spots among the river to land.

About 10 minutes later he astonishes Dragomir as he surprisingly, without any warning, shoots down, landing in front of an old mines portal. After the short shock, he follows his mate down there, who has a big smile on his face: “Look what nice of a place we found here! I almost missed it!”, Poseidon declared happily. Poseidon trotted inside with Dragomir behind, examining the walls of the caves. It was beautiful in away. Even not to close to the white city, there were still signs of glorious life. It was easy to tell that other vayrons and tyrians have been here since there were paintings on the wall made of blue. Blue was streaked against dark gray stone, with smaller ones scattered throughout the cave.

"This isn't so bad!" Dragomir mentioned. He was already making himself at home, laying down with his eyes slightly closed. "We still have quite a while to go through. Don't we?" he added. Poseidon was still exploring the cave, noticing the bits of grass that seemed to have a soft blue glint to them. Waving in the moonlight, as if it was saying goodbye to something forever. Poking his head out of the cave as the last check for them to be alright, Poseidon stared at the scattered islands floating in the air with mist dancing in the skies. It was peaceful. Disappearing back into the cave, the large tyrian laid down at the opposite side of the cave, resting his head deciding to rest. He almost was going to create a campfire but he was too tired to.

"Hey. Poseidon. We should hunt," Dragomir decided. Waking up Poseidon, the white tyrian stained with blue patches simply glared.

"I just got up though," he responded.

''Then fine."

The Tyrian had always been the one being less into hunting, but with a huge fascination for nature and its phenomena, that were ruling everything inside and around him. Suddenly he was reminded to a rainy day, when Dragomir and he had been sitting in a cave too, being forced to wait by the weather: “Hey Dragomir, do you recall the one time when we were kids and had to wait for the thunder to stop? This reminds me so much of back then.”

“Of course! I was waiting, very annoyed because of the missed hunting lessons, while you were just sitting there, looking at the sky, as if you would see anything interesting in there we could not. To be honest I was pretty angry when afterward you were so happy about missing out on the hunting”. There was a ton of hunting that had to be done lately, especially on a trip that seemed to last forever. Too many days for a quick trail.

“That’s not fair! I was sad that you missed out on the hunt. But as you should have known by then, there is better stuff to do if you ask me. We could go hunt every day, but when do you get the chance to see the sky lit up by those towers of fire? Only a couple of times a year it happens during daylight. And I can remember very well, how you ate the rabbits I was studying for weeks before it happened. So if somebody is mad, it’s me!”, Poseidon replied with slight anger in his voice.

Dragomir soon realized that contrary to Poseidon he had understood all of this as a joke and tried to calm him down again: “Sorry, I just meant this as a joke. So many years have passed since then, so calm down. Imagining you upset is a little upsetting for myself actually." they finished. Dragomir looked over at him, responding, "Then let us continue our journey. We have quite a while to go still!". We still had to get to the area for the white city of Hoius, and lying to them we were actually fairly close. The trees from before actually had a ton of leaves that were multiple colors and shades of green and blues. Before they left once again, they decided to hunt early. It was a quick successful hunt, with a few rabbits being captured. A quick meal, but still useful. They knew they would have to hunt again when they got closer though. Lifting to the air, they continued their journey.

Both were reminded later of the salt flats they flew by previously for this journey and chatted about if licking them would taste salty. next to that, they noticed how smaller rocks could even float, since Poseidon flew into some a couple of times. Dragomir was happy for this part of the journey since Poseidon looked quite silly for what was happening to him. "I think we are closer,'' Dragomir decided.

Getting nearer to the White City of Horus, they could barely contain their excitement. "I've been here a few times you know!" he told Poseidon. Poseidon seemed to fully believe him, which was natural for close friends. Below them were mountains of stone which made creatures easier to see. As long as they were large. Seeing Kirins and dragons around, they tried their best to avoid some of the later prey. A dragon did catch sight of them but since they were seeing more tyrians they felt safe yet still avoided being to close to them. It seemed like some dragons lived in peace though. Perhaps some dragons are heavily respected?

Poseidon would mention things like," So what exactly does the city look like? I haven't been there before. I can tell its gonna be beautiful." and it was, from what Dragomir knew. Dragomir responded with, "It is. Do you see the floating islands above? that means we're close. to the city.". "But I thought you said we were far?" he responded. "I lied to you. It made you move quicker." I responded, once again. Of course, later on in the day, we did arrive, and it truly was beautiful. The trip took almost forever, around nine days. Dragonmir wishes it took only one. Poseidon was obviously excited at all of this, due to him flying around meeting other tyrians. Dragomir continued to look and explore, on the other hand, learning more about the culture here and in fact the history of both Tyrians and their homes. It was an interesting journey, but at least we got there safely.

"Now it's time we return home," Poseidon decided. "Or at least back to the start. We could always stay here for a while if desired--" he added as his mind wandered off. The light seemed to reflect off of the buildings that looked as if they were made of marble.

"I agree. This place distracts me too much!" Dragomir teased. "I do want to at least rest though. This place is quite pretty, perhaps you could meet someone!" he added on top of the conversation. With that, they decided to stay at the white city for a while longer.

SUSTAIN TRAIL

Traditional Hunt The Reosean sets out on a hunt - if they bring a prey back, their trial is considered passed.Draw your Reosean either stalking, chasing or taking down a prey item from the Prey List.

- The prey you choose to hunt must match the background/setting of your trial (the trial is not required to take place in your Reosean's home continent, but say if your hunt is taking place in Roenden, the prey item should come from the Roenden list).

♦ Tyrian Exclusive: No Reosean will survive without food, and its well known that Tyrians can hunt both from air and from land. What's your Tyrian's preference? If they prefer to hunt by air, swooping down to catch their prey, how did it go? Did they get a good catch or miss completely? Maybe they accidentally captured a vayron? If your Tyrian prefers to hunt by ground, are they a stalker or do they run for it? Have they ever tried to catch prey underwater? Remember, if not a vayron, the prey they're going for must be from the "Large" column of the prey list. (If preferred)

- This trial does not have to be completed in your Reosean's home continent. - This trial does not require a companion and can be completed alone. - Runners / Pullers / Tyrians: Must choose large prey items.

Right in the middle of spring laid this day sunny morning. Having just surpassed the third moon of April, nature presented itself in true magnificence, making every attentive spectator marvel about the sudden change from the bald landscape they saw only a month ago at the same place. It was right in between this beauty, that the Tyrian Poseidon stepped out of his cave after sleeping unusually long to gain power for the day that was just being born. Poseidon himself was very thoughtful, which had always been quite unusual for a Tyrian of his size and with his abilities, so he was always amazed, but especially on this morning, by the spectrum of colors and sounds surrounding him. Since he had been a little nestling he wondered about how everything in nature was working so well together and if there might be some magic involved, controlled by some very wise old species. At least that would explain the many odd things and phenomenons, that often seemed to not fit in the clockwork of life. He stood there for about 15 minutes, just watching all the little birds and insects doing their work with seemingly endless eagerness before he managed to free himself from this state of meditational fascination and focus on the hunt he had planned for today. Sometimes the mist was fairly annoying, but nothing major here in Vitalus. It could be hard to see bugs here and there.

Him looking forward to hunting was actually a development, that had only been taking place in the last few years. Little Poseidon as a fledgling always tried to get around the hunting lessons young Tyrians had to attend, favoring to study the behavior and life of the species his friends would eat up later.

After making sure there was no thieves insight of his cave from high up in the air, he started the short journey to the big lakes near Ebrus. He knew that there was a ton of trees there that seemed to have crystals on the side of them all. He wondered to himself if Dragomir would be noticed there. There he would hunt, but not like most of his species over land - he was one of the few Tyrians hunting over, or you could say in the water. He only learned that this was a thing from an old and wise Tyrian about a year ago, and followed that one's advice to try it, which Poseidon got after finding out his name meant god of the seas in an old language that wasn’t spoken anymore. Poseidon arrived at lake sønden, his preferred hunting ground, only about an hour later. He enjoyed to fly at high speed just a few inches over the surface, so it felt as if he was gliding along on the water without actually getting wet. The first thing he did after that was to take a quick stop to drink some of the fresh and clear water and look at the sun reflecting from the little waves created by a breeze of fresh air that had its origins in the nearby mountains. The mountains were a bit difficult to see the details of due to the mist, but you could see a large dragon or two there that seemed to always protect that mountain.

About a whole hour, he ended up spending like that before the sound of a Tyrian landing alarmed him. He swung himself up into the air as fast as he could, being worried about an attack by ravagers and ready to fight, if that was the case. The mist here in Vitalus seemed to want to blind him but thankfully it wasn't anything too threatening.

“Wow, it’s just me! You look like you are about to kill me, Pos!”, a well-known voice laughed at him. Owned by his friend Dragomir, the voice a rather positive and very unexpected surprise.

“How did you know where to find me?”, Poseidon wondered.

“It wasn’t that hard, as much as you talked about this place! This morning I just thought I would join you for your hunt today, but if you want me too, I can leave. I felt like this would be a great way to complete another trail together. By surprise!" Dragonmir smiled as he spoke as if he was happy to see his friend again. Trails from before he seemed to always do with Poseidon so it was nice to do this one with him too.

“Of course not! Follow me, I’ll show you how this kind of hunting is done. If you want to, you can try to do it yourself”, the blue Tyrian told his friend and started flying circles over the lake. Poseidon would do this at different altitudes, as he had started to notice that depending on how high the sun stands some bigger animals are only visible from certain angles of looking into the water. The first interesting prey he spotted was a huge trout, which would be an easy start for today's hunt. So Poseidon gained a bit of extra altitude, before rushing downwards with his claws facing towards the fish, who only noticed he was being attacked way too late.

The Tyrian ate him right after he caught him on a small island that was located on the eastern side of the lake. Moments later he was back up in the sky, continuing to repeat this process for seven more times, and avoiding the smaller islands that appeared, this time sharing his meal with his Dragomir, who after a few failed tries had given up trying to catch a fish, before he decided it was time to search for a major prey he could take home to eat from for about a week. With more practice though, he finally caught one when Poseidon made him focus more on how to capture them. "It's really not that hard. You just need to work on timing. Additionally, you need to be better at lifting from the water because it seems like you're trying to drown sometimes. It's quite worrying I'd admit," Poseidon added.

Poseidon and Dragomir began to hunt together after Dragomir got to practice some of Poseidon's tricks. They decided to hunt the largest thing they saw, which looking around seemed to be a large grizzly which was fishing for food itself. "You think we should?" Poseidon asked Dragomir. Dragomir nodded and quickly swooped down with his friend. The grizzly was large with shagged fur, obviously quite old. It was on the ground next to the lake until Dragomir attacked it. Dragomir clawed its side then lifted to the air again before Poseidon attacked it as Dragomir did. They repeated the process multiple times but weren't succeeding too well, since the bear clawed them in return a few times. It started to run back into the forest but Dragomir blocked it off as Poseidon landed behind it. Blocked from the forest and facing Dragomir, it attempted to attack them again aggressively. Swinging its claws side to side blindly without missing a couple of times.

"OW!" Poseidon exclaimed, which Poseidon then hit the creature with his wing, throwing him back. Dragomir clawed it until it stopped struggling, symboling that it was dead.

"That... took a while."

"It sure did... It was so aggressive," Poseidon agreed. "But now we have to head back. You can carry it since you finished it off. Wait till they hear this story! I really think I like the whole... flying and swooping down situation," Poseidon added. Dragomir frowned at the thought of carrying but did so. Poseidon lifted the heavy bear onto his friends back, making sure it was in a position where it wouldn't just fall off as he flew. After a minute or so he decided they were ready to shoo. "Let's go."

Dragomir raised to the air with slight struggles since he never had such a heavy weight on his back. He managed thankfully, and Poseidon made sure to be close in case it did fall off. Islands floating in the sky passed them by within seconds since they were still quite fast! In Vitalus though, there were always islands. Just a few more here. The mist seemed to still be trying to blind Poseidon which made him worry for Dragomir, but Dragomir spoke shortly after when Poseidon couldn't see his tail anymore. "I'm here!" he called to Poseidon, who seemed to be in a whole other direction.

"Where?" he requested.

"HERE!" was the response he got.

"SAYING HERE DOESN'T REALLY HELP,'' Poseidon responded crankily. He managed to finally be able to tell where the voice was coming though, and the green blob that just screamed at him Dragomir. Next to him on the ground was the bear on it's side. Poseidon landed carefully, then looked down but only saw mist. Sitting next to the hunt on the island, he started talking to Dragomir about the wounds they got. "I never want to hunt a bear again," he decided.

"At least the trail should be done now!" Dragomir smiled then looked to the bear.
