Summer preparations: commence!

“Gaaaaais!”, Nadja broke out through the door, holding a newspaper on her mouth, what made her voice come out muffled, some words sounding rather funny. “Guess wat I haf here!”

“A newspaper!”, Tomate cheerfully said, stating the obvious.

“Betta than dat!”

“A trend newspaper?”, Kera asked, becoming hopeful.

“Nope!”, she approached the two and dropped the newspaper in the ground before them, where they could read. Regardless of doing so, Nadja still announced what it was about, wagging her tail. “The Summer Starlight Festival is nearing! You know what this means, right?”

“Means we’re going shopping!”, Kera said, perking his ears up. He suddenly seemed to shine brighter, sparks all around him. A sweatdrop rolled down on Tomate and Nadja’s heads.

“…means we goin’ to the beach? For the vacations”, Tomate said, reminding they had, indeed, planned doing so once summer would come.

“Oh.”

“I’m so excited! I have wanted to have some chill time with you for ages. Moreover, I’ve never been to the beach! I wonder what it’s like in there.”

“Eh, the mountains’re better”, the brown soosh laid down on top of her paws lazily. Tomate didn’t seem that much eager to face the heat. “It’ be hot, really hot. If we goin’ spend all day there, we shoulda prepare not to roast away.”

“You mean we should bring water and other goodies to stay hydrated? Can’t we just have Kera’s instead-“

“Hey! No one touches the tail, the straws are only complementary to make me handsome.”

They laughed at Kera’s remark, finding funny how his biggest concern was about the looks and not about the fact Nadja wanted to eat away a piece of his tail by transforming it into a cocktail. 

It was just a joke, but they always would get amused at how concerned he was about his appearance in the first place. Priorities.

“Well, I guess I can get a hold of some drinks, we could have a picnic~ I’ll take care of that tonight, will make sure everything’s well packed and refrigerated until we leave tomorrow.”

“That settles hydration! But Imma thinkin’ I wanna bring a parasol too. Do ya guys think it’ be too difficult to handle?”

“Wouldn’t it be better to wear some hats and stuff like that as well?”

“Do ya have any?”, Tomate tilted her head. “Since ya never been in the beach.”

Nadja took a moment to think. If sooshes could have open eyes, Kera’s would be the exact visual image of the eyes emoji from cellphones. We wouldn’t seem them because of his bangs, but they were there anyway – what counts is the intention.

“I… think not.”

“Welp. Guess we goin’ shopping anyways.”

“Yeeeeeees”, Kera let out a muffled cry of victory upon his partners realization. “I’ve been eager to doll you girls up for a while, and the last summer fashion trends have truly exquisite pieces which I-”

“No need to go that far, Keke. ”, Nadja interrupted him, placing a paw on top his head. “I don’t want to end up with pigtails. I think I just want a pretty summer hat. With a ribbon!”

“Well”, the fashionista soosh sighed, seeming slightly disappointed in the simplicity of the request, but willing to comply. “I’ll pick a really pretty one for you, then.”

“Yaaaay! Meanwhile, Toto, you could help me pick up the good stuff for our picnic”, Nadja suggested, raising a paw to her chin in expectation of her response. “You do have summer wear already, right?”

“Yup, but ah- if Kera wanna pick something up for me too, that be okay!”

Kera seemed more content with the current situation, but had no literal tail to wag to show such contentment.

“I just had an idea; I could pick something stylish for the three of us. And the pieces could be matching!”, he announced, holding his paws up as if envisioning the three of them wearing said pieces.

“Ye, sure, I like it! What does Nadja think?”, Tomate asked, while getting up and stretching her legs and back.

“As long as mine is a big hat with a ribbon, I like the idea too.”

“Will keep this in mind”, Kera nodded. “I think we are done planning? The shopping district will start the busy, rush hour soon. We should head out now.”

“Where the money at, though?”

“No worries! I got this covered”, Nadja stuck her tongue out, opening her wings. From under them, two heavy coin cases dropped in the ground with a hearty metallic sound, one from each side. “Keke, do the thing.”

Kera obeyed and promptly took out a pair of black sunglasses from a nearby drawer, putting them on Nadja’s face. He then grabbed the coin case which was sitting on his side with his mouth, and gestured Tomate to do the same with the other one.

Nadja, triumphally, then said,

“Let’s roll, my dudes.”
