“Are you sure this was a good idea kidnapping the heir?”

“Of course it was, we can make more money than is on the captain’s head.”

“It’s just that… He seems very off…” The tall woman motions to the tied up teen behind her, seemingly not caring that he was in a life or death situation.

“Nonsense, once he realizes no one’s coming for him, he’ll start to panic.”

“I’m right here you know!” The tied up heir shouted. “Besides, that’s fine by me!”

What nobody realized was that their first mate was listening in on them via the lookout post. No one knows how the Myotis Crew came upon this oddball or why she’s their first mate, but what did they know?

“And here I thought we had standards. Kidnapping a child is just… not pirate policy.” She muttered to herself. “I wonder why I just haven’t turned myself into those Chosen Privateers yet. They seem to not be child kidnappers.”

“Meeting on the deck!” Their captain shouted, leading the first mate to slide down her most comfortable post. Once all four of the other members were in position, their very tall and imposing captain began to speak.

“Now, you all know of the little bastard we kidnapped.” Everyone nodded and Koi gave a subtle eye roll. “Good. Tonight, we get our bounty for him, and then destroy everyone he cares about. Rape, pillage and burn everything in that town and his manor.” Koi’s eyes widened in the back of her mind. I can’t kill innocent civilians. Then she took a quick look at their prisoner. He’s got a little brother… She subtly shook her head as the meeting was dismissed and she returned to her post. There’s no way in hell that I can warn them… But what if… She remembered the bounty on the crew’s head. What if I save the town instead…

“Hold him in place while we get the gold.” The captain told one of the other crew members, one who was more muscular than the others combined. “If they don’t comply.” He then made a slashing motion towards the heir’s neck. He then pointed to the other two. “Be on standby so we can get the hell out of here.” He then pointed to Koi. “You're coming with me, it’s better to have two on one.” The duo strolled off the ship and onto the port where the lord was waiting.

“Here it is. 300,000 gold.” The lord muttered. “Now give me back my son.” Koi was handed the bag and she knew what that meant. As soon as she got it onto the ship, this place would become nothing but cinders.

“Excellent.” The captain smiled that sinister grin Koi only saw in nightmares. “Come on now, we’ve got other business to attend to.” He turned his back towards Koi as he headed towards the ship.

One slash… No hesitation…. Koi gripped onto the sword on her hip and it was just like butter the way she slashed through his sword arm, destroying the tendons.

“I thought we had a deal Mr…” He looked down at his arm and then his former first mate’s blade, then to her holding it. “I see, that’s how we want to play it wench.” The captain drew the sword opposite of Koi’s with his other hand.

“The deal was we wouldn’t rape, pillage and burn the innocent.” Koi’s words dripped with venom in the same way as her former subordinate’s dagger. “Now EN GUARDE!” Blades clashed. The metal clashing into metal almost turned into music with how they parried each other’s strikes.

“I’m shocked you’re keeping up with me, I thought you would’ve only slashed the right because you knew it was my sword arm.”

“It’s your preferred arm. Now all I’m doing is training with a mirror image of myself.” She chuckled, dodging strike after solid strike. “After all, I learned from the best.” Koi felt the pressure heating up as she not only had to dodge her captain’s but two other members as well, often trying to slide under blades so that they’d hit each other rather than her.

“EAT THIS BUSTER!” A male voice shouted as the heir, free from his bindings slammed a barrel into one of the crewman’s heads, knocking him out hard core followed by the other getting punched in the face by a giant fist, knocking her out as well.

“Colburn! Why are you helping this traitor!” The captain shouted.

“I have no other options.” His gravelly voice boomed, as it was one of the few sentences he’s ever spoken in his time as a crewmember. “This is not the life I intended.” That gave Koi enough time to finish the former captain off with the poison coated dagger she stole from the knocked out subordinate.

“Sorry you had to witness that sir, you can have your gold back.” Koi smiled as she turned to the lord, handing him back the gold. “From now on, the Myotis Crew is going to be dedicated to helping the poor and ruining the corrupt.” The lord just stared at all of them dumbfounded as he motioned for his heir to follow him home.

“Well that was interesting.” Colburn muttered as Koi removed any extra weapons from the knocked out or dead.

“Who knew that this is how the Myotis crew ended… In a bloody mess.” A new voice said. The duo turned to see a brown haired male getting off a white horse like some sort of fairytale prince.

“You’re the leader of the chosen.” Both muttered.

“I suppose you two don’t know who did this?”

“It was I.” Koi muttered. “Sorry I stole your bounty.”

“I’m just glad they’re off the streets and seas.” The male said, staring off into the sea. “I also couldn’t help but hear you two are reforming the Myotis crew and helping the poor. I’ll make a deal with you.” He turned to the duo. “As long as you two are helping the innocent and fighting for good, I’ll clear the bounty on your heads and all of your sins are in the past.”

“Deal. Now let’s get a bite to eat! I’m starving!” Koi chuckled.

The next morning, Koi and Colburn were almost ready to set sail, newly obtained bounty gold in hand until..

“Hey! You guys got room!?” A familiar voice to them shouted. They turned to see the heir with a giant sack with him, but now instead of a fancy robe, now down to an olive tunic and pale blue slacks.

“We can’t have someone like you on our ship. We’re not babysitters.” Colburn growled.

“Fine.” The heir pouted. “I’ll just stow away on your ship then.”

He’s kinda cute. Koi thought. “I prefer if we do not have vomit.” She finally said to him. “Give him a break Col, we barely have anyone.” Only for a small head to pop out of the back. The head of the heir’s little brother.

“Ken you weren’t supposed to get out yet!” The heir said as he noticed his little brother.

“Sorry.” He replied. “It was hot.”

“Now get this thing out of the port before the guards notice us missing. I am not getting wed to that bitch tonight.” The heir hissed.

“Aye Aye captain.” Koi chuckled.
