Dragons must undergo thorough courtship traditions before others will be interested in breeding with them. The Grand Display pushes their skills to the limit, ensuring only the finest of Dragons will go on to breed. Each element has their own traditions to impress others of their kind, though this same practice can dissuade their opposing element from breeding. Regardless of this, achieving their own element’s Grand Display is a dream of every growing dragon, and they are eager to enter into the ceremony as soon as permitted.

Strength Trial

The night was nice, Drik mused, frolicking under the gleaming nightscape, stars twinkling over a dormant land; it was cool, but pleasently so, he dropping into a spiral, only to flare his wings at the last moment, his shadow caressing the land for a moment before returning to his flight. He did have a purpose, and it was one that allowed him to make a new friend... even if he had to prove his strength to it first. He felt the shadows move far ahead of him and angled his wings, the others shadows swirling around him, tinged with earth and ocean and signicanlly more substantial than Drik was, "Ooooo!" He cooed at the hound like dragon that was waiting for him, the sound soft and gentle, his attention shifting to the three familiars he could sense,

Azazael kept a careful on on the three familiars, the raven was constantly hunting for shiny things, though it was rare for it to actaully find anything, the neko was busy playing with the pink fairy armadillo; normally he wouldn't of brought them, but the youngsters request had caught him at a odd time, he hadn't been able to return to the cenote with them. When things began he'd sheild them, his magic settling recently. His ears twitched, and he looked up,to the see the dragon come in to land, his form barely there; the wispiness reminding him of another dragon he knew. He remained still letting Drik press close, the playful youngster settling somewhat. Finally, he nudged the youngster away, though he remined gentle, and herded the three familiars to a side, weaving his dark magic to keep them safe (and in one place)... then he struck, a feint to test the youngsters response time, playful as Drik was, this was about strength.

Drik accepted the push away and drifted off a distance, excited and nervous at the same time, fighting wasn't his forte, and the other male was more skilled, but excited, this was a form of play, for the other male was not trying to truly hurt him. Just as he settled, the black dragon attacked his rattler shaking, startled, Drik flew upwards, avoiding the attack, his mind spinning, how to go about it; at least in the air he could think... the other male not able to fly. A faint twinge against his dark senses had Drik turning to 'see' Zee lunging at him, claws spead and shadowy wings spread, flying towards him. Drik reacted, calling on his companion to attack Zee, striking at the magic formed wings;

Zee stumbled mid air.... landing heavily as a result, but gave drik no respite, green surrounding him as he pulled at the earth and launching rocks at the hovering youngster.

Weaving and waving through the rocks, Drik lunged, it was like an obstacle course, crashing into Zee, and wrapping around him, though he was careful of the coral on the dragons back, then he pulled on the dark magic that flickered to life, a single burst and his mass shifted, becoming more solid and heavy, trapping the older male. He ignored the other dark magic lashing at him, constricting further, though he worried that he'd damage the coral if shifted his mass too much.

"Enough." Azazael said softly, and Drik immediately looesened his grip, settling back to his 'normal' shape, and settling next to the older male as he shook himself. "I didn't damage your coral?" Drik asked worriedly, as the raven came to land next to him cawing loudly. The maneki-neko and pink fariy armadillo, settling next to Zee, having been released from their 'cage'. "No, and it is much appreciated, you did well." Zee replied, turning his head, Drik followed suit, sensing something large heading his way. "I though Abyss could help with your next trial.... just.. be careful of her right side." Drik pulled back, as if trying to grasp the sheer size of the dragon that waited beneath a steadily lighting sky. Thanking the male, he took off... and the collossal dragons size only became bigger the closer he got to her......
