Dragons must undergo thorough courtship traditions before others will be interested in breeding with them. The Grand Display pushes their skills to the limit, ensuring only the finest of Dragons will go on to breed. Each element has their own traditions to impress others of their kind, though this same practice can dissuade their opposing element from breeding. Regardless of this, achieving their own element’s Grand Display is a dream of every growing dragon, and they are eager to enter into the ceremony as soon as permitted.

Providence Trial

"When have you had time to find that nugget of knowledge?" Morkal asked, his wings keeping him easily above the dragon below; theyve been 'together' for the past few days as they'd begun and passed the first two trials of the Display; of course the third part was fairly easy.. all they had to do was find a nice forest and just gather stuff... but King had other ideas, wanting to go explore a vast cave located in the middle of nowhere. King hummed happily as she rand, unfazed by the wind dragons tone. "Oh... i might of known about it for a while, word around the den and all that." She explained, glancing up as the males shadow crossed over her. Morkal looked at the vast nothingness that was the desert, though the wind was nice, gently running through his feathers. "Are you sure you didn't take a wrong turn at the last cactus?" He asked sarcastically, gliding on the warm thermals... he could still see no sign of this 'cave' "Oh keep your tail feathers on, its just around..." She said, suddenly stopping. "Here." Morkal circled back but saw nothing. "Are you sure that sea water didn't make you .." Halting he came to land next to King, it had been slight, a change in the desert sands that many would miss. "Told you so." King sang, completely off key, just to annoy him, which he ignored.

They followed the 'crack' until it widened somewhat, anything larger than either of the two dragons would not fit in, and even then King dug it out somewhat, peering down the pair stared at the immense cavern below. "Thats a... long drop." King said, then grinned at Morkal, her necfrill flaring for a bit. "Of course i know a wind dragon who is perfecting his magic." She crooned, battering her eyelashes at Morkal. "I could just drop you to the bottom, you're earth, youll be fine." He responded, though she was right, it would be a good way to practice his magic more. "Ah, such cruelty." King said dramatically, a claw placed over her chest, Morkal snorted knowing the female was simply playing.

"Ready." Morkal asked, King nodded and jumped, falling at a rate that might of been worrying, but despite their banter, she did trust Morkal; singing the avian descended, a light purple flight covered the area, surrounding King and she slowed, the descent slow as the wind magic literally allowed her to float down.. King stretched a claw out to run it over a stalactite, the rest of the ceiling covered in the formations; some longer than many of the dragons that she lived with. Morkal lowered his humming, not to drop King but the cavern was echoing it back making it more powerful, and he knew she wouldn't want to go back to the surface

Further and further they descended, the walls beging to glow, tiny insects glimmering in the darkness, finally Kings talons touched the ground, and the purple glow faded as Morkal landed his chest heaving from the sustained use of magic. "Many thanks, i hadn't realised it was so deep or big." King said. "Wait here." She said darting off to rummage around the walls, coming away with a berry or two, quickly eating one to test it. before returning to Morkal. "Here."

For a few moments the pair remained in one place, the darkness broken by the faint lights, hints of jewels lingering just out of sight. Morkal shook himself, and peered with interest as a faint breeze filtered though the area. "Ready to see what else is here?" He asked, King nodded, her body humming with eagerness, so much to explore and they started looking around, darting into smaller tunnels, digging around the immense stalagmites that jutted from the floor, ameythyst clusters hidden deep in the cavern walls... and that was only the start.... what else was here, hidden beneath the desert sands above.....
