Ansel and Coraline pair bond

Batty For You

Flapping his wings excitedly, the storm dragon was ever so excited to lead his rider who was on the back of the griffon who was just enjoying the wind in their face. Having no medium or bigger winged dragons, Kaz has taken to traveling longer distances on the back of the strange creatures he found and loved. This one wasn’t always the smartest, but it adored Kaz and Kaz adored it too. No matter how much trouble the griffon got into.

“Anne! Slow down!” Kaz called to the bat looking male, who twirled a few times before he headed back to Kaz to snuggle up against him as the chilly air made him shiver.

“Sooooo excite!”

“Yes, I know. We’re going to go see Coraline and Mana. I know how you love to see them.” SIghing, Kaz stroked Ansel’s light blue scales as suddenly they started diving as the large and magic filled tree came into sight.

“We’re here!” Letting the storm male go, he flew on ahead as Kaz steered himself and the other through the branches to land on the ground. He could feel those ever so excited and giddy feelings from his dragon. Not even landing, he could see Mana so happy to see him, though he looked surprised by Kaz’s lack of ears and fluffy tail.

“Hello again Mana, it’s nice to see you. Nice place you got there.” Patting the griffon, it strutted off to hunt things for a snack, happy to be back on ground and using less energy.

His arm sticking straight out, Coraline was clinging to the underside of Mana's elbow as he poured a glass of milk with one hand. For the past half hour, most of the things he was doing had been one handed, as the dragon like to hang upside down. There weren't many places for them to chat and hang. "Are you sure he knows?" he questioned the fluffy bat, their tails tickling him slightly. Not enough for laughter, but they still occasionally brushed up against him.

Nodding, the dragon was very sure she had told Ansel that their rider's had already met a couple weeks ago. For quite the similar reason that they would be meeting again apparently. The smaller bat dragon had gotten excited while they were building a nest in the tree, chatting about their future children and how the rider's would hopefully get to keep them all. They were both purebred storm dragons after all. If anything, Ansel's rider Kazimir would be a very good candidate for them.

Mana was a little on the wonky side, but Coraline had chosen him because he didn't need her as much and she could do as she pleased for the less crazy, more childish rider. They both were a little confused on why Ansel wanted to reintroduce Kaz and Mana, but if it made him happy, it certainly made her happy. That was all that mattered to the forest spirit as he finished his glass of milk to check outside the tree once again. Seeing the other rider, he hurried out, Coraline crawling up to hang off of one of his horns now as they went. "It's great to see you too! It's bigger on the inside. Do you wanna come in? I've got tons of games set up already!"

“Cooooraline!” Ansel called out, tackling a female that he snuggled up to very excitedly. Though a very energetic storm child, he was rarely this excited in most instances of his life and just had that peppy attitude to him.

“Careful there, don’t want to tackle too hard.” Kaz called after the bat, only having a vague clue why he was here through the excited rambling his dragon was doing as he zoomed around the caravan until Kaz agreed to go meet Mana again. Looking around, he was wondering if Lochan was here as he wasn’t home but he didn’t see either so figured he had taken Star off on one of their many dates.

“Coraline, Coraline! I’m back!” Ansel told the older female with his big and happy eyes, getting in a couple kisses before he watched Kaz go inside with the just as excitable Mana as he suddenly remembered the nest. “Oh! We must finish the nest! Where else will we put all our lovely eggs~”

A bitter scatterbrained to say the least, Ansel was just super excited as he zoomed off towards the nest they were building before they decided it would be a great idea to bond. Not actually a bad idea as they worked so well together, and both just so excited for their future together.

“Be careful, you two!” Kaz called out a hole that served as a window, having caught a glimpse of Ansel swooshing by and knew his dragon was a true derp full of just pure love. But the forest wasn’t always the same.

“Of course! We’re going to build a nest and talk about babies!” The light blue male called back, landing on a branch to see Kaz grin and shake his head. Waving them a goodbye and Mana called for him and he headed back in.

Having a good idea on what to expect from the other, Coraline unfurled her leather wings upon seeing the male zooming towards her. She was the calm to his storm if anything as they tackled into her, both of their bumbles soaking up the impact for the most part. It made everything easier to have so much fluff between them, plus it was warm. "Welcome back Ansel, I missed you. Hello Kazimir." She purred, rubbing against him. Mana reached up to pet the fluffy tail that was still attached to his horn. For the sake of simplicity he reached up to get his pretty little bat to cling to his finger, dropping them off on a branch to snuggle as he looked excitedly towards Kaz. The spirit liked the other who also tended to be monochrome in color. They were chill, liked to play flashy games on the color box. It wasn't as interactive as the games Mana liked to play, but they were suuuper fun to watch! He asked about the one with all the colors and bright hair, but Ixavier was happily at home tinkering away with his latest project.

Pulling away slightly so she could smooch Ansel's forehead, Coraline smiled at the easily distracted dragon. "True, we can't just let them roll off wherever they please." Though she wouldn't doubt if some of them did. She was sure some of her own eggs would hatch and go off into the world to either find their own riders, or travel by themselves as independent children. Not that Ansel needed to know that, she didn't want to send him into a huffy mess. She loved her happy little bat.

Taking to the skies, their nest wasn't too far. She wanted to stay close to her tree home so she could go back and forth at a moments notice. Whether that meant needing to help Mana calm someone (or himself) down, or screech at anything trying to mess with the nest. Now might be a good moment to share the reason she had wanted to build the nest so suddenly with him.. but even as a storm dragon she still became nervous in some situations. "Would you mind bringing a few more sticks, I think one side is leaning too much?"

Spiralling through the air and back to the rather decent sized nest for two bat sized dragons, Ansel was kneeding some of the soft moss and leaves and weaving a few sticks back into the nest with such joy and glee, scooting closer as Coraline landed as well as he loved just sometimes taking small breaks to cuddle into her wings for those sweet moments he never tired of. He was a hard worker though, so after rubbing his face on her chest fluff he went back to flying around like a hummingbird as he used his feet to grab things and put them where they needed to be. It was relaxing just building this wonderful nest with his mate, sending off all his giddy feelings to Kaz who was trying to teach Mana a new card game inside, not sure if he was getting it across but he was the patient sort so he kept trying like he would with his dark or storm dragons.

Perking up as Coraline suddenly asked something of him, he of course agreed to his sweet darling’s request, zooming off like a tossed paper plane before returning back with a bundle of sticks between his two feet, still so excited and not nervous unlike the other. He himself didn’t notice where the lean was, but if his sweetie told him there was there had to be!

“Where is it? I can fix it for you as you make the nest softer! Has to be so soft for the babies, and you. Should be the best and nicest nest for baby having.” Wiggling a little, he was just so ready to be a parent with the other. Not realizing that may be something coming sooner over later. “So excited for small spawns! It’ll be so great having small and fluffy babies everywhere~ And it’ll be even better cause OUR babiiiiiiies~” Flailing his wings to get out some of the warm feelings, he started poking around the nest to make it sturdy and not slouched to one side.

Happy to be more still and less excitable, Coraline took up some of the grass and feathers to weave gently through the sticks. If it weren't for the little breaks that Ansel liked to come distract her with between their work, she likely would do it non stop. She was hard working bordering on obsessive when it came to making things just the way she wanted, so the pauses were much appreciated by the wyvern body she liked to push when she could. Waving him off, she went on with her work, not very surprised when the eager to please partner was back in a flash with the requested sticks. "If you don't mind that would be lovely," Nodding towards the slouching side, she gestured at an area that was barely tilted. Barely, but that was just enough for her to want to even it out.

In times such as this, it was fantastic having multiple long, fluffy tails that she could pull shed fur from that would get trapped in between each other. Combing her fur, it didn't take long until she was starting to make a thin layer of soft bedding for their nest. "Mhmhm, it's for you too Ansel." Seeing him so excited for the small ones that she already knew were on the way at least put her more at ease from the many butterflies in her stomach. Some real, some imaginary. It was a little funny hearing the strange words he would pick up from his rider Kaz as well, such as calling the babies spawns. "Do you think there'll be many?" She mused out loud, if there were, surely at least one of them would be willing to bond to one of their riders, "Perhaps we should start hunting for food now since I won't be able to help soon?"

Taking the more bendy sticks to help straighten out the edge and then sturdy sticks to stick into those so the slight curve was gone and it was looking like the nest of a large bird. It just needed some animal fur for that brutal and soft look many larger birds of prey go for. He wasn’t going to right now though, as he liked the feeling of the feathers, leaves, and moss that was there for now. With now that soft layer of dark colored fur that was being rubbed off to make the stick points just fade away into the softness that would one day hold eggs.

“Well yes, me too but I have to get food too! Who else will take care of you and the babies when they hatch?” He asked in the sweetest of ways, all too ready to be the providing father for his small hoard that would come one day and take over the forest or caravan. Maybe even both if they were really active and frisky. Pulling at a twig that was sticking out and wasn’t soothed out into the layer of softness, he thought it over and was still, before just giving his peppy answer. “I don’t know! But I hope so. Babies are so sweet and nice. They’re going to be so fluffy too! Maybe Kaz can get a really fluffy one, he likes fluffy dragons or weird dragons.” Pulling out some of his looser white fur to add in and make cow colored nesting, he was settling down to stare at Coraline as she mentioned soon she wouldn’t be able to. “Why can’t you help soon. Are you hurt?” His voice worried, scooting closer to distract her from her work as he wrapped his wings around her. “Should I go get the riders, hurt is bad!”

The big ball of fluff that was her tail twitched back and forth happily. She had certainly picked a lovely mate to bond with. "I'm not sure how weird they'll be, but they'll certainly be fluffy." From what she learned from watching Mana and learning about the care he puts in as a breeder, Coraline was almost positive that their children would be lovely balls of fur. Their personalities would be a different question entirely considering they'd be storm, but she looked forward to the trouble they might cause or prevent as well.

Still weaving the fur while padding any sticks stick out, she jumped slightly when Ansel suddenly scooched over to wrap their wings around her. Glancing over at him, she started to preen out some of his fur as well with a small smile. "No, no, I am perfectly fine, I promise," It was a slight slip of the tongue, but the thoughts and talk of smalls had been on her mind more and more since finding out about her own. "It'll just be.." humming slightly, she did like that Ansel was surprisingly sharp when it came to worrying about her, thinking over a phrasing that could break the news, "difficult to fly later. With how quickly the spawns tend to grow."

Staring up at his sweet mate, his lip quivered at the idea of her being injured. SHe didn’t keep him waiting for long though, slowly telling him she was perfectly fine but new additions were bound to make flying harder. A fair point as well! Extra weight would make many things harder.

“Oh, that’s fair. Babies can get so-- waaaaaaait.” Thinking over her words as his head tilted back worth like one of those rhythm keepers. It clicked in the end, as his wings spread out and he rubbed all over Coraline just squeeing all the way. “Babies! We’re going to have babies! Sweet and chaotic babies that will look so lovingly into the sky when it stoooorms!” Now having zoomies, the male couldn’t wait until it came time. Saying how he should start getting food and zoomed off before coming back as he remembered it was nest time first. First nest, then food! Or maybe first nest, then cuddling Coraline in said nest to lay and talk about babies. Yeah, that sounded nice.
