Hades had become particularly accustomed to the idea of Haunted Eve over the many many years he’d been alive. He’d seen the tradition grow into a more fun filled event, less ghouls and ghosts now more candy and fun was too be had, he didn’t blame them for changing up the custom, the world was harsh enough as it was, adding a day where young ones could have fun wasnt harming anyone, maybe Corvus… But he didn’t count

Although he liked Haunted Eve Hades didn’t exactly participate in any of the events, scaring random citizens? That was more Taliesins thing, going around committing murders for fun? That was Angels thing. Actually celebrating the true traditions and worshipping the gods, deities and the dead? He left that bogus nonsense to Valerian and her little witch cult. No what Hades did was what he always did really, sit back and watch the world turn and remember the events that came and think of what events could follow.

Or atleast that’s what he would be doing. But no. This year Hex decided to pop in and pay a visit and that meant Nodi was too follow, the Ethrens seemed to stick close to eachother even though they where utter opposites.

Hex, although his name was misleading, was the sweetest soul and often would aid those dreaming of the bigger picture. He spent most of his time in the happier districts as Hades liked to call them but he’d always drop by to say hello to an old friend, his presence was always very appreciated, he oozed relief and it helped Hades with the fact that they’d all live forever honestly.

Nodi on the other hand was a literal handful, her aura was a lot to take in for others experiencing loss or heartbreak, thankfully Hades didn’t exactly have a soul to taint enough to be effected but he’d seen first hand what Nodi’s aura was capable of. The Ethren didn't even seem to mind all that much, she’d tend to express how to experience life you had to go through loss but it made her seem harsh and it didn’t help that she was a bit of a loose cannon as it was with her wild emotions.

“What is she doing here” Hades grumbled as he folded his arms across his chest, standing in the doorway to his vintage gothic cottage, his flames flickered and burnt out as the did, leaving the fragile framework in perfect shape even if the flames seemed to lick at them.

“She-“ Hex went to speak but Nodi just scoffed from behind him.

“Bahumbug! It’s Haunted Eve you pillock! I brought you some decorations to put in your already very Halloween house!” She explained with a grin as she tried to make her way in but Hades didn’t move.

“What Nodi meant was we were in the area and I know how much Haunted Eve means to you so we stopped by to say hello” Hex offered politely as he placed a hand on Nodi’s shoulder and mpulling her back gently. “It waa her idea to bring you the gifts, she brought pumpkins, I know how much you enjoy baking the seeds into treats for the local fauna” He continued.

“You and your stupid looking at the bright side of everything” Hades mumbled, thankfully Hex’s aura was already helping to calm down his rather annoyed mood from Nodi, even if she did have a pumpkin… “Fine whilst my husband isn’t home, I don’t want you tainting him” He peered at Nodi.

“You fucking wish! Can’t believe that sorry sod fell for you honestly, you’re such an old man!” She stuck her tongue out at Hades as she made her way inside. Hex just shook his head fondly and gave Hades a light pat on the shoulder as they made there way inside and into the kitchen.

“So what’s the real reason you’re both here?” Hades asked as he retrieved his carving knives from their draws as he set about gutting the pumpkin Nodi had brought.

“I do not have a reason to come and see an old friend” Hex shrugged as he watched Hades begin to carve out the top of the pumpkin, idky passing him whichever tools he needed next.

“And you?” Hades didn’t even look at Nodi as he spoke.

“Weeeeelllll I may have gotten into a spot of bother” She said tapping her fingers together. “I may or may not have royally pissed off Villanelle”

Hades rolled his eyes, typical he thought. “And you’re attempting to make this my problem now because?” He deadpanned back at her, his flames starting to flicker a bit more even with Hex’s presence.

“Well I mean it ain’t but she has some weird appreciation for you, thought ya could smoove it over, water under the bridge in all that”

Hades brow quirked up. “What do I get out of it” he murmured.

“You get my ever loving appreciation of ya sorry ass” Nodi replied with a smirk before ducking out of the way of a knife that was thrown at her head. “OI you utter twat!”

Hades growled. “I don’t do charity work Nodi”

The Ethren scoffed and folded her arms. “Tell that to the little lamb you protect, what’s his name Reaper? Pathetic thing coming from your bloodline-“ Nodi’s words were cut off as Hades vaulted the table and wrapped a now flamed hand around her neck.

“Do not disrespect me or my bloodline again” He snarled as the flames licked at her soft skin, he was hurting her sure but Ethrens weren’t easy to kill.

“Or what” Nodi managed to spit out before Hades launched her into the table that Hex was still using to gut the pumpkin. Although Nodi was slightly larger, Hades had the upper hand with his strength and agility, he quickly grabbed a carving knife that had fallen to the floor and slammed it through one of her fins. His flames now grew dangerously hot and began to bleed from himself and onto the wooden floor of the house but Hades was almost lost in his rage, too focused on causing Nodi pain to even think.

“Hades” Hex grabbed at his shoulder and hurled him up, quickly stomping on the ground where the flames had started to burn away at the old wood. “Get a hold of your emotions or you’ll burn down your husbands house” He said with his hands on the Aphex’s shoulders. “And you” Hex looked to Nodi who had ripped the knife out of her fin and looked as if she was about to stab Hades in the back. “Go home” He said in a darker voice than usual, Nodi seemed to think for a moment before throwing the knife down on the floor and spitting in Hades' direction before she saw herself out. Hex simply held Hades in place as the Aphex slowly calmed down, his flames returning to their usual harmless selves after some time of simply standing in silence.

“I will find a way to kill her” Hades grumbled as he finally looked at Hex.

The Ethren simply chuckled lightly and patted Hades shoulder before letting go. “By all means but for now help me clean up this mess, I think we can still salvage most of the pumpkin, or would you prefer I leave you to clean and have your husband catch on to what happened” he smirked softly.

“Point taken” Hades huffed. “But did you really mean I could kill-“

“Hades just clear up the mess before I change my mind”
