Onigiri found two little Mr. Batty very badly injured on the edge of a snow-covered forest. It seemed that the little ones had barely escaped from a fight. She did not hesitate to shelter them under her plumage and take them home. For three days she spent all her attention on the two little creatures. She healed their wounds, fed them and let them rest. When they regained consciousness, they were agitated, but soon realized that they were safe. Onigiri prepared them fish-flavored rice balls that they seemed to like. They also drank their bowls of milk. From the third day on, they would curl up next to Onigiri to sleep. Who wouldn't have sweet dreams wrapped in so many soft, warm feathers? The two Mr. Batty gradually regained the shine of their jet-black fur. They had amber eyes that glowed softly at night, and their little wings and ears felt like velvet. Soon the three of them forged a strong bond. The little ones began to eat various fruits, and they also seemed to love dried fruit. Piyo soon visited, and also became fond of the little Batty boys. Interestingly, they both assumed the role of Piyo's guardians, a role that Onigiri had quietly taken on for some time. They were very clever and attentive, and more than once they saved the poor Piyo from tripping. Onigiri would take them to pick berries when the sun began to set. Mr. Batty were more active during the night, although they slowly started to wake up earlier, so they could spend more time with Onigiri.
