Chapter 1

There was a cold mist in the air that night, A fog had begun to settle. The streets were quiet and not a soul to be seen aside from the occasional passer by. Léon stood by himself in the alley of the hospital feeling a bit perplexed. He had been standing outside for almost an hour just thinking, and the more he thought the disconcert he became. "What exactly is going on here?" The dark haired man spoke to himself. Soon a glimmer caught his eye, a can laying on the ground. Most likely from someone to lazy to dispose of it correctly. He strolled over and simply crushed it under his foot. The sound of the metal being crushed rung through the alley. He let out a frustrated sigh before leaning up against the wall. He took out a cigarette and lit it before taking a long drag. It was much needed.

His mind started to drift off into ways he could possibly get Abel to remember him. It shocked him when Abel stated that he did not remember who he was. It was like someone shot him in the chest, but maybe a bit more painful? He shook his head and looked up at the sky. There was not a star to be seen, but that was fine. Not like he was the type to believe on wishing on a star. Far from it actually. He just needed to clear his head before he did something stupid. Normally he was not like this, normally Léon was always seen brandishing a smirk on his face. Not today, how could he? He ran a hand through his hair and looked at the hospital. Most of the rooms were dark, but there were a few rooms that were lit. Most likely patients getting tests run or some hospital type thing. He personally are not too fond of the hospitals. He was here with Abel all to frequently. He had grown accustom to being in this place that reeked of death and the dying.

After being outside for more than twenty minute he decided to face Abel again. What was he going to say? How would he fix Abel's memory? Would it come back on its own or would he have to do something? What if he never got his memories back? Even if that was the case, Léon would be there for him. After all Abel was important to him. More important than words could express. This thought brought a slight smirk to his face. Maybe it would not be that bad... He could try and fill the blanks for Abel, Take care of him in a sense. It wasn't like this was the end of the road for their friendship. Léon would just not allow it. Taking one last drag of his cigarette Léon tossed it aside and entered the hospital once again. He was ready to face his friend.

As he walked into the hospital the harsh florescent lights caused him to squint. He never could stand the lighting they used in hospitals, it was sickening. He would never get used to it. It made the white hallways even brighter and sickening to stare at. He looked to the nurses station and eyed a few nurses scrambling back and fourth between their many tasks. Nurses were always worked so hard, Working long shifts with minimal breaks. He was surprised they would work under these conditions with what little pay they made. Night staff especially. They always looked so tired and ran down, A lot of... things happened at night. A lot of the time they had too much work to handle on their own. So many patients in and out at night. Mostly from what he could assume to be Vampire attacks. It would only get worse for them unfortunately. This town was crawling with things that go 'bump in the night.'

He continued on down the hall and made his way to the elevator. Abel was on the tenth floor. Why did hospitals have to be so huge? Not only was it huge but this building was prehistoric. He was pretty sure the place was haunted or something. It had that eerie feeling to it when it got to the witching hour. He could only imagine how paranoid the humans who work here got while alone at night. It would be unsettling to say the least. Tapping his foot on the ground, he crossed his arms as he waited for the elevator to get to the lobby. It was taking its time... He could probably have smoked another cigarette in the time it took for the elevator to finally reach his floor. "About time." He mumbled to himself as he shuffled into the metal death trap on a string. He leaned forward and gently pressed the button with the letter ten on it and leaned against the wall of the elevator. Sure, he could have climbed the stairs; but elevators were faster and less work.

When the elevator doors opened he was caught off guard when a distressed nurse rushed in, brushing into him as he made his way out of the elevator. The doors closed before he could get a full look at the woman. He just furrowed him brow and continued down that hall, brushing it off. It was not much of his business anyways. Plus, he had his own problem to deal with. He made his way to the door and slowly reached his hand out to the doorknob of Abel's room. Well... It was time. Time to confront him again. He just hoped Abel would listen to him. Would he act differently without his memories? Would he still be the irritable Abel he knew and cared about? Or would he be an entirely different person? So many thought started coursing though his head. Finally he took a deep breath. There was only one way to find out, and that was to sit down and have a conversation with him. Slowly Léon turned the knob of the door and made his way into the dimly lit room.
