Chapter 1

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

For as much work as Percy did for Icarus' Eye, very rarely did the Leyr manage to catch a break. When he did, it was normally because Lohrian stopped by to see Arthur, which meant that Percy didn't have any new work added on.

A small blip noise from Percy's replier came from across the room. Percy had misplaced it in his hectic run from Arthur's study back to his bedroom - or rather, his work room that happened to have a nest in it. After Percy had clamored over the stacks and stacks of work, he managed to retrieve it. The message was from Lohrian, short and succinct.

Hey, Percy. Just a heads-up, I'm on my way over. It's starting to sprinkle here, hopefully it won't start pouring midway, haha! Be there soon.

If Percy took a moment to consider the noise from outside, there was the pattering of droplets against the window, as well as some distant rolling thunder. The storm hadn't picked up super strong just yet.

Percy rushed to grab his replier as it went off. He couldn’t count the number of times he miss placed it today. Hopefully Arthur’s memory issues weren’t contagious.

He picked up his replier and read over Lohrian’s message. Did he not know that Arthur was currently out? The eldest leyr had taken off for the next few days with Vistrau, going on a trip to speak with the Archivist. True Arthur didn’t check his replier very often but Percy had always suspected that Lohrian and Arthur spoke on a somewhat regular basis when planning their meetings.

I should let him know Arthur isn’t here. Percy thought to himself before he started typing a reply.

Halfway through Acacius came leaping out of no where and snatched the device out of Percy’s hands.

“H-Hey!” He called out, watching the thieving daemon scamper out of the room.

Lohrian received the following message: Hey Lohrian, I just wanted to let you know that Afbbdb fhbcabdv fbdb

Lohrian

Well, that wasn't good. Lohrian frowned at his replier as he flew, the beads of water beginning to seep into his clothes. Either Percy had fallen, Acacius had stolen something again, or there was something wrong.

The Aria researcher managed to make his way to the tower, knocking at the door before letting himself in. "Helloooo? Percy?" He called, shaking the water out of his feathers. He was considerably fluffed up, reaching up to smooth them back down. He didn't want to look like a puffball. Slipping out of the outer robe he wore, Lohrian began making his way through the tower where it was dry, his talons softly clacking against the floor.

As Lohrian made his way through the main room there was the sound of tiny paw steps. Soon Acacius could be seen crawling out from under an armoire, dragging something alongside him. It didn’t take long for Lohrian to see that it was Percy’s replier. It also didn’t take long for Acacius to sense Lohrian, despite the daemon’s lack of eyes.

Acacius snatched up the replier and made a b-line for the stairs.

Lohrian

Lohrian gave pursuit, skittering towards Arthur's little thief of a Daemon. It was only a saving grace that the things he stole didn't orbit around him. Or that he didn't pass through walls like Seleihri could.

After a light scramble, Lohrian was able to lift the rambunctious little boy up off the stairs, separating him from his bounty. He set the Daemon down afterwards, letting it skitter away to steal another day. What was Acacius going to do? Bite him? He was little. Lohrian would live.

"Well... there's a replier. But no Leyr." Lohrian thought aloud, frowning softly. "Percy?" He called again, beginning his search by backtracking to the floor where Percy's room resided.

Lohrian saw no sign of Percy until he entered the leyr’s room. The colorful leyr was stuck halfway underneath one of the bookshelves in his room. He wiggled about, looking like he was trying to grab something. Or maybe he was searching for something. Maybe the replier? Or Acacius? Or both?

When he heard Lohrian enter he let out a startled noise, quickly crawling out from under the shelf. In his hurry he hit his head on the bottom of the shelf, actually causing a few books to fall and land on him as well.

“Owie... ouch...” He hissed, finally pulling himself out from entire the shelf entirely. He sat down on the floor, placing one hand on top of his head. “Hi... Lohrian.” He forced a smile, though it was obviously pained.

Lohrian had opened his mouth to speak, getting cut off by Percy being startled and bonking himself on the bookshelf. A snort of amusement slipped out, unable to stop himself. "Oh, Percy.."

Lohrian approached the colorful leyr, crouching down to be on the floor with him. Lohrian set the replier in Percy's lap, moving to put his own hand gingerly atop Percy's head. "Hi Percy." He spoke, returning the introductory gesture. "I ran into Acacius in the halls, guess he's jot as concerned about storms as I thought."

Lohrian sat on the floor, his tail curling around behind him and lightly setting itself across his lap. "What was it you wanted to let me know? Over the repliers?"

Percival

Percy winced, gingerly touching where he had hit his head. “Oh, um,” He closed his eyes as he tried to remember. In all honesty he was a bit scatter brained after bonking himself.

“Oh! I was trying to tell you that Arthur isn’t here.” Percy said once he remembered, offering Lohrian a weak smile. “I suppose you came all this way for nothing, huh? I had hoped I could tell you before you got too far so you could turn around and head home. Arthur won’t be back for a few days.”

He shifted how he was sitting, gathering his legs under himself as his tail swooshed around the two of them. It was a big poofy mess of color.

Lohrian

"Oh, I knew that." Lohrian nodded. "He told me when he was planning on doing it, said that Vistrau wanted to come too." Lohrian was careful as he kept his hand on Percy's head.

"No, I came by to see you, actually. Check in and see how you were doing, help you finish up some papers and transcripts, maybe help you sleep a little if you'd want that." He chuckled.

Percival

“Oh.. wow, that’s very nice of you.” Percy said with a genuine smile this time. It felt good to be looked after for once rather than the one doing the looking after. Percy didn’t resent Arthur for that aspect of their relationship of course but he did really need a break every now and then.

“Well, I was just about to wrap up for the night actually. But if you’re here maybe we can speed through sorting some of these scripts and then I can rest easy knowing I got a head start on my work for tomorrow.”
