Chapter 2

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

"I can do that." The greenish-hued Leyr smiled softly. "Should I go make you any tea to help your head some? You can sip on that and tell me what all needs to be done with them." He offered.

Lohrian and Percy were the same exact height, but there were some times that depending on the situation, each one could feel bigger than the other. Lohrian felt larger than Percy in the moment just because he was doting on the little Leyr. "We can talk or listen to the rain as it brews. How does that sound?"

Percival

// Ward & Assistant Researcher

“That sounds... wonderful.” Percy said with a happy sigh. “Yes please, I’d love some tea.”

Percy went ahead and stood up. Listening to the rain would be good. He normally took breaks during storms anyway for that very reason. There was something calming about watching the clouds roll in and listening to the rain beat against the roof and patter against the window pane.

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

Lohrian stood up after Percy, looking out towards the doorway. "Are you feeling dizzy at all?" He asked, offering a hand. "If you want some help walking as we go into the kitchen, I don't mind."

Lohrian waited for Percy to decide before taking the lead at a casual pace. The rain was starting to pick up, creating the perfect ambiance for working or for sleeping. "Has work been the same old, same old for you since the last I flew by?"

Percival

// Ward & Assistant Researcher

"No, I'm good now. Just stunned myself a bit is all." Percy explained with a soft laugh. He reached up and rubbed the top of his head once again, messing up his already unruly hair in the process.

"Work's been pretty much the same." Percy replied as he followed after Lohrian. Of course Lohrian knew where to go. He had been here enough times. "Mostly just going through all of the crates from when we moved. We still haven't got the new library in order yet..." He let out a heavy sigh. There was always stuff to do. "But hopefully it'll be finished soon. Just waiting on a few more bookshelves to be built for the library."

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

"I can't imagine how much weight those shelves have to hold." Lohrian commented with a drawn out exhale, eyebrows rising as he did so. "The old ones were practically buckling, weren't they? No wonder you decided not to cart them all down with you."

As the two made their way into the kitchen, Lohrian went about getting everything ready to make tea. He had spoken to his mother not long ago, and had managed to score a few new bags. "I shouldn't have to ask, but, do you want something to keep you awake, or something to help you sleep?" He chuckled. His head swiveled behind him, holding a few small satchels of dried leaves in his talons. "Or something in the middle?"

Percival

// Ward & Assistant Researcher

“Yeah, it’s a lot of weight.” Percy commented with a soft whistle. “I think Arthur is the sole reason why a lot of the parchment makers stay in business. He buys basically all their stock.” He laughed, though it probably wasn’t far from the truth.

Percy walked over and sat himself down at the little bar. There were two levels of counter top, one for Arthur and the other larger species and one for the smaller ones.

“Hm, I’d say the caffeinated one but honestly I’ll just get jittery and still fall asleep.” Percy said with a sheepish smile. Caffeine was lost on him. Nothing could combat his sleepiness once it hit.

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

"Sleepy time tea it is, then." Lohrian chuckled, turning his attention back to what he was doing. His flopped-over ear pricked up as Percy sat down, listening as he got himself situated.

"You've been here for quite some time now. Here with him. Do you ever think about what you'd do if his memory got better?" Lohrian asked, setting the water to boil. "Surely there's things you want to do that you can't, right?"

Percival

// Ward & Assistant Researcher

“You won’t mind if I fall asleep?” Percy asked a tad bit shyly. He didn’t want to doze off and leave Lohrian without company. That was rude. “I don’t want to make you feel like you’re unwanted.”

Lohrian’s next question made Percy really think. A life without Arthur? Without his current job? Percy had never really thought about it.. “Well I... I don’t know. This has all been such a large part of my life...” He mumbled, resting his chin on his hands. “Maybe.. I’d like to see the world? Arthur and I talked about taking a trip but in the end it would be too hard for the two of us to feasibly do it safely.” Percy let out a heavy sigh, frowning as he continues. “Arthur could forget and wander off and be lost in someplace. Or we could be attacked and I’m not a fighter and Arthur is in no condition to really fight so... the plans are on hold for now.”

Lohrian

// Aria Researcher

Lohrian listened to Percy's reply, frowning slightly. Percy really was stuck here. He didn't seem like he enjoyed it. Percy clearly cared for Arthur, but...

Lohrian, walked over, setting a hand on Percy's shoulder. "It'll get better someday. You've got Vistrau now to keep Arthur busy, and while he's just a kid, he'll grow up quickly." Lohrian's thumb softly ran across the colorful Leyr's jacket atop his shoulder. "You can give yourself a chance to rest and do the things you want while he isn't here."

Percy took care of Arthur so much. It was only fair Lohrian could take care of Percy. At least for the night.

"Let's get this tea made, and then, do you want to jump straight into working? Or would you maybe want to go outside and enjoy the rain noises a bit closer? We can't go far, but it's still a break."

Percival

// Ward & Assistant Researcher

Lohrian's words and gentle touch brought a smile to Percy's lips. "I mean, my life isn't bad it's just tiring. I could use a break more often than I get them." He laughed softly.

Percy nodded in affirmation as Lohrian brought up Vistrau. That was true, but that meant Percy was now looking after two leyrs rather than just one. But once Vistrau got old enough hopefully he'd be willing to at least take over for some weeks. Vistrau didn't seem like the type to just fly the coop but it was a possibility once he got older.

"We can go outside and enjoy the rain for a little while." That sounded ideal. Percy needed a moment to kick his feet up and simply enjoy the soothing sound of the rain.
