"Well? What do you think?"
Ardal Lorcan lifted his eyepatch and crouched down to more closely examine the pathetic little blob that called itself a monster. It seemed like it really wanted to be a big and scary demon with all of that hissing, but nature had presumably disowned it like a deadbeat dad, dooming it to a lifetime of disappointment. After flicking that poor little wannabe, the boy stood back up and returned his eyepatch to its original place over his perfectly-functioning eye.
"Guess it couldn't hurt." he shrugged, looking back at the bat-wielding girl behind him. She nodded in response and strolled over to the miserable piece of

Carte Blanche - NNWM Days 10-13 + NaNo Notes
Quite satisfied, Brossard followed the hippobug to the other side of the room, with Dechesne following only a bit more hesitantly. Although this hippo insect thing seemed nice enough, that didn't change the fact that it was still a hippo insect thing. Just looking at it made him feel uncomfortable, if only because the concept of its existence violated pretty much every law of nature he ever knew.
Finally, the moment of truth. The camouflaged door opened up wide, revealing a long hallway (it was so long that seeing all the way to the end was impossible) lined with even more doors. Each door was completely unique; one door couldn't be mistak

Second Layer - Chapter Three
"Goddess? Goddess? Wake up, Goddess!"
Lilita groaned. She didn't want to go to school today, it was too cold to go outside. No one would care if she skipped a day, or at least just waited five more minutes...
"Don't be dead, Goddess! Nobody dies on the first day!"
Goddess? First day? Even worse than school. She felt like she was being shaken, most likely by two frantic twin girls, but she felt like getting up even less now. Too much chaos. It would be nice to just sleep through it all...
"I think she's dead, Chenille! What are we gonna tell Old Goddess?! We're doomed, doomed!"

Elliot Andeville is Going to Hell - Chapter 3
Elliot came to more quickly than he had liked, shuddering at the sensation of a hand on his face. He heard the figure speak to him in a low voice, but he couldn’t wrap his mind around what it was saying before he passed out again.
The second time, he was being carried back through the hallway, too burnt out to think anything of it. More tired than faint, he thoughtlessly rested his head against the figure’s chest and let himself sleep.
The third time, he heard muddled voices and the pain in his head was much duller. His eyes fluttered open, showing him all of his winterwear laid out in front of a fireplace.

[NNWM] Lethe Sillage
I woke up in a pool in the middle of a dark room, floating on an inflatable plastic bed with nothing but the clothes on my back and a cell phone that wouldn’t stop vibrating. Honestly, I didn’t really think much of it. At the time I assumed I had just woken up after a wild party in someone’s pool with someone else’s phone. Struggling not to tip over the bed and fall into the pool, I managed to sit up and check the phone, immediately noticing there wasn’t a lock screen and that at least five different people had sent “me” texts.

Every part of his body was still numb. No one in his department had spoken a word since it happened. Maybe a hesitant question here, a quiet transfer request there, but nothing more. The rest of Limbo, he imagined, was still buzzing with activity, pleasantly unaware of what lurked beyond the horizon. But here, where everyone knew what he was thinking, there was hardly so much as a sound. Ola wasn’t offering anyone snacks, Clevae didn’t have any smart comments, and there wasn’t a single soul awaiting judgment.
Spades didn’t know how much time had passed since then. He couldn’t remember the last interview he held.

In general, elevators made Nette feel very uncomfortable. It wasn't always like this. Other than the occasional fear that the elevator would suddenly screech to a halt and leave her to suffocate (which was supposedly more common over Here due to Their interesting tastes), Nette liked elevators a lot. Then she wound up being abducted by superior beings or whatever and now felt considerably uncomfortable when crammed in a small spot with several of Them. It didn't help that, besides the talking chinchillas, she was really the only 'normal' one there. Judging by previous experience and the rather tight maid outfit she had been forced into o

As you stare at the girl before you, a million questions run through your mind. Who is she? How did she do that? But one question stands above the rest...
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" you shout suddenly, surprising even yourself, "You just killed all of those people!"
The girl glares down at you, appearing annoyed.
"How ignorant of you." she says coldly, turning her back to you. "You should know that no one ever dies."
"What are you talking about?! That thing was made out of people, and you just destroyed it! You just destroyed them!"
You hear a sigh. The girl looks back at you, visibly dis

“You’re kidding!” Harry exclaimed, scratching the bandage on his nose.
“That’s what I thought, but it’s true! The whole thing!” Elliot affirmed, cut off from saying any more by almost slipping on the icy sidewalk. He was rebalanced by Mercedes whacking him in the back of the head with a snowball that was more ice than snow.

Elliot Andeville is Going to Hell - Chapter 1
“What was it like in Hell, Grandpa?” Elliot asked, wide-eyed.
His grandfather leaned in closer, wheelchair creaking. He had that kind of grin on that he always got while telling stories, no matter the subject matter: nostalgic and just slightly crazed.
“Just the way you’d imagine it, kiddo. Full of screaming and crying and everyone runnin’ for their lives… ‘course, I couldn’t tell you what it was like before The Fall, but I’d bet it was about the same.”
Grandpa scratched his stubble before resuming with gusto, “But that don’t matter! Where I was, it was real dark,
