What do the circus performers like to do on their off time?

Just the Circus performers or everyone?

If you mean just the circus, well... Lori likes to read, and even when she isn't performing she does chores and helps the other troupe members. Or she sits with Silvie on her off times. Learns other handy things, other than sewing. Allen works on training with the animals, or he is in his trailer watching TV and eating junk food. Usually he's a workaholic though. Others just play cards, drink, watch films, prolly do things they shouldn't be doing....

How many circus performers and freakshow pepes are there?

Oof, you are makin' me jump way ahead haha

I haven't decided entirely yet. I know each section has it's own seperate group. The Carnival has Carnévale, Nick, Silvie and her two goobers, and then we have the concession stand folks... I'm still making characters for that side. (Both sides really)

The Freakshow and Circus have Lori and Allen, and a few other interesting folks. They are a circus that has animals, but they are very well taken care of and the animals enjoy the work. I know there's a white tiger that loves Allen and an elephant or two. Maybe a bear, just old circus animals! In the Freakshow I know there are typical "Freaks". Some aren't really human. Others are humans with "deformities". This is 1950/60s we are talkin' about. If you don't look "normal", you end up on the streets. They took the boss's hand for a home all too eagerly.

I'm still working steadily on other characters! So far just Allen's sheet and the Ringleader's sheet is planned.

I like to imagine that the boss is the clown boss from Codename Kids Next Door.

LOL No, no he's not but that would be funny. I will draw the Ringleader when I can, I do have an idea what he looks like.

Out of everyone in Carnévale who would you deem as the most romantic or somethin

I’m just curious :>

Hmmmmmmmmm Lori has romantic dreams more so towards her. Just a young girl that wants a "fairytale" life. I don't blame her. The person who would act more romantic would prolly be Carnévale. Nick would attempt but then realize it's too much energy and throw in the flag lol Carnévale is suave, sweet and flirty. A bazillion flowers tossed on you. Some candy boxes. He might have stolen a few from each box though.

I guess IF the boss was interested in someone, he'd have more of those old fashion romantic values. Courting and all that.

Just wanna say a thank you for the questions for this new weird little story, they are fun to talk about and they help me think better about characters and stuff. I'm happy you like the characters! ( ˶´ ᵕ `˶ ) ♡

How do the circus performers feel about each other?

They get along pretty well with eachother. Most are kinda intimidated by the boss. He's a mysterious, but kind fella though. The freakshow/circus side are more so to have problems with each other or others, as they've lived harder lives due to their looks and other things. They aren't bad people, of course, but shorter tempered, a bit crazier.

The Carnival side is a more cheery and friendly. Everyone works together pretty well! If we are talking about specific cast so far.... Carnévale gets along with everyone. There are a couple that question his second in command ranking when the boss is gone, but for the most part everyone is chill with him. No one has anything against Lori, she's cared for by everyone. Silvie is the same, they all take care of her due to her disability. Nick is indifferent with everyone and they are the same with him.

Allen, the beast tamer, he is in charge of the circus, and I guess some get into it with him about doing certain things, but they really can't do much about it.

What are some things Carnevale, Lori, and Nick like and dislike?

Carnévale likes music ofc. The carnival has a rather large piano/pipe organ that he is infatuated with. He really isn't in any acts himself, he acts like second-in-command, guard dog, and an eccentric voice for event billings, an announcer of sorts. He does play music for the circus/freakshow portion during big performances, though. You'd never know it, but he doesn't really like humans all that much. He will treat the guests like gold, and he does like the children, but adults he is cautious while being courteous. Anyone that is a threat to his family, he might give a warning if the person is lucky. He also doesn't really like veggies. He's sorta a brat.

Lori likes pretty things. Dresses, jewelry, shiny knick-knacks. Things she could never afford and never got to have. She loves to sew, learning from Silvie on how to do so. She also likes romance novels, but that's her secret that she will take to her grave. For obvious reasons, she does not like loud noises. She's trained herself to handle how loud it gets during her rare performances, but sudden explosions or even fireworks can send her into a shock where she curls up to cover her ears.

Nick likes cheap cigars and whiskey. He also likes naps. And pretty ladies. He's a typical bum man in that time period. But he does like making people laugh, seeing other folk's joy. He never had the opportunity to live a normal life with a wife and kids, a normal job, a normal house. Despite being a grumpy ol' butt, he cares about his family, and especially likes playing the dad card with Lori. He doesn't like smartasses and people with ego, and in perfect character will totally bring down some young men and embarass them infront of everyone while still being a silly clown.

Did Lori let her hair grow out or is she wearing a wig?

For her performing costume, she wears a wig and contacts! She really tries to seperate her "Bat Girl" performance from herself as much as she can. Clean the make-up off, take everything off, cover her ears and hands and she's comforted again.

Is there anyone at the circus that Lori is scared of?

I am still progressively working on all the characters so I can't say a 100% for sure on who and what, but hey these questions do help me think!

Starting off, she was afraid of everything and everyone. She never was treated well. Always kicked around, always living in fear since she was little. After being "kidnapped" and brought to the carnival, she didn't know what was going to happen to her. The clown (which I dub Nick, or his stage name, Slapstick) and Silvie were the ones that helped her the most to settle and realize no one was ever going to hurt her again. And Carnévale especially promised he'd protect her, which caused her heart to leap! Then she made close friends with the beast tamer, Allen. The freakshow is full of intimidating folks that can be pretty spooky but since she's part of their act, she has gotten over most of her fears of them.

Fun fact: The Freakshow acts are under blacklight, which is why her costume is brightly colored for the UV reflection.

Since Lori is part bat, does she have any abilities like bats do like flying, super sonic hearing, or sleeping upside down?

Sort of spoiler, but she isn't really a bat! Just cuz how her ears are, she just kinda has that bat trait sorta look, so they just went with that when they gave her a stage name. No one is sure what she really is.

She is pretty much human other than having claws, sharp teeth and odd ears. She can hear pretty well though!

I feel like we may already know the answer to this, but what would happen if either Carnevale or Lori were placed in charge of a concession stand?

Well I know Lori is a stuttering, antisocial bean when it comes to actual human guests. She'd do her darndest to be a good service giver. The carnival already has a LARGE concession stand with one cook and a helper to take money. That would prolly be Lori's job too.

Now if it was Carnévale..... He would be hyper, popping in and out to get customers, waving his hands, pick up the pace! Cook, cook! Money! He'd dart everywhere, flirt with the ladies, compliment the men, recommend things that weren't even on the menu, really really annoy the cook........ Until his arse was kicked out aggressively, as in he'd prolly go flying into a nearby tent. I didn't say the cook was human.

Avatar

Also, figured I would ask, does Carnivale know Lori's got a crush on him or is he unaware?

Avatar

Carnévale, despite being very smart and savvy in most things, is oblivious to any emotion that equals to crushes or love or any of that. He was a creature that snuck around humans, avoided them for the most part, as they'd fear him or try and kill him on sight. He's seen couples and how mushy they can be, and he thinks "aww that's cute, how about you two love birds take your mushy bums to the show!" He understands love and all human emotions, just lacks the understanding towards himself.

And it doesn't help that Lori is shy. She isn't too shy to talk to him, but gets too shy when her emotions flutter. He has always been nice and silly to her when she has her depression episodes, as she hates how she is. She hates her ears, her sharp teeth, her claws. She wants to be normal. So when she goes through these episodes, he does his best to try and cheer her up, and how can you not help but fall for a charismatic sweetheart, despite being a bit crazy!

Loving the art for the carnival/circus guys!

Was also wondering, do they get to travel or do they stay in one place? Are there particular places they like to be in or do they just take it as it comes?

Avatar

Thank you! I'm enjoying the characters!

They do travel to all sorts of places around the world. This is around... 1950s or 1960s, with a bit of fantasy touchup. A lot of places kinda need a good laugh or whimsy wonder after the war. They rarely traditionally travel, as there are too many antsy creatures in their group, so the Ringleader/boss guy kinda transports the whole field to other open fields around the world. Appearing and disappearing over night. If they have really good business, they will stay for a couple weeks or so. Sometimes a month.

The field has these obelisks built up around the perimeter that act as the catalysts for the move. If one is damaged, they can't leave.
