Spring Training’s on, and that means it’s well past time to finish posting my photos from last year’s games!

8/26/16 - Mets vs. Phillies
Mets win 9-4
Starting Pitchers: Colón + Morgan
Seats: Upper deck, 3rd base side

Well, this was a fun game. Bartolo got halfway to a cycle, Wilmer hit his third career grand slam, Reyes and Cabrera each made terrific defensive plays, and with good pitching and hitting the Mets smothered the Phillies 9-4.

8/23/16 - Cyclones vs. Scrappers (Lucas “Duda Smash” bobblehead night)
Cyclones win 2-1
Starting Pitchers: Jacobson + Bieber
Seats: behind home

It took the Cyclones until the 11th to smash the Scrappers in this low-scoring game on a cool night by the sea. New call-up Anthony Dimino was the hero, hitting a walk-off single in his first day in Brooklyn to score Jay Jabs. Raul Jacobson, not normally a starter, looked great filling in for the injured Szapucki, striking out eight in six innings.

8/19/16 - House of Glory’s High Intensity 5

My friend and I kicked off this year’s Summerslam weekend with a trip to Amazura nightclub (“NYC Arena”) in Jamaica, Queens for one of the local indies, who also had a bunch of TNA talent on the card for the night like Drew Galloway and Mickie James. It was a great show with highlights like the Hardys winning the local promotion’s tag titles from Private Party, and an intense No Ropes match for the House of Glory Elite Championship, in which “Ca$h Flow” Ken Broadway defeated Anthony Gangone for his belt, forcing him to leave HoG forever after his four years with the promotion (good luck in NXT, Anthony!).

Plus, Broken Matt slow-danced with a ref!

8/13/16 Mets vs. Padres (Pride night, Styx postgame concert)
Mets win 3-2
Starting Pitchers: deGrom + Cosart
Seats: Upper deck, 3rd base side

There was a great atmosphere in the house for the first LGBT Pride night for a major New York sports team, and the Mets ended it on a good note. After Familia gave up a home run to lose the save in the 9th, Wilmer Flores drove in the winning run in the 11th inning (on some interesting fundies by the Padres’ rookie second baseman Ryan Schimpf, who opted to throw wildly home rather than attempt the double play). Gabriel Ynoa got the win in his major league debut, pitching a perfect inning in the 11th to close it out. deGrom also had a great start.
