Backstory.

Aldeaux grew up in The Southern Shroud outside of Gridania in a shared home with other Duskwight kids, and as such has a rural background full of hard work around his local community. Despite, Aldeaux has always had dreams of travel, adventure, magic, etcetera etcetera. Once grown, and after surviving the Calamity at the cost of many elezen he grew up with and subsequently had to bury, he became a caretaker of his childhood home and helped care for other orphaned elezen who had lost their families in the ongoing destruction. Wanderlust eventually got to him, though, and after years of enduring terrible mundanity and then watching the Shroud miserably attempt to heal from the Calamity, he gathered his things and left for Thanalan. He procured passage to Ul'Dah, encountered two curious twin Elezen and an Amal'jaa attack while entering the city, and the rest is history.

Family:His parents were both from Ishgard, and both elezen men, one cisgender and one trans and duskwight and wildwood respectively. Viotent Grandis was a duskwight elezen, who gave Aldeaux dark skin and white hair. Jeanfillier Michaux is a wildwood elezen who gave him his pink eyes and gentle face.Viotent was descended from the infamous Ishgardian Heavens Ward, but not actually one of the twelve - because he was a thirdborn. The youngest uncle of conjurer Haumeric de Peulagnon, he fortunately never got a spot among Thordan's most trusted, and instead became a temple knight under the lord commander of the time. Jeanfillier was a citizen from Foundation, the common citizens' Ishgard, and ran a market stall in the Jeweled Crozier with his mother from a young age. They met while Viotent was well into his knights' service, fell in love, and despite limited backlash from Viotent's highborn relatives got married. Around this time, however, Nidhogg was becoming angered again, and during the period after their bonding ceremony was finalized there were increasing Dravanian attacks falling on Ishgard and the surrounding areas. Painfully, they decided to leave the city and travel south to the Black Shroud in deeper Eorzea to ensure their safety. The two of them settled in the south shroud, and soon conceived a child they immediately fell in love with once their existence was confirmed, but shortly before Aldeaux was born a small horde of Heavens Ward-seeking Dravanians descended on their little home and killed Viotent because of his lineage and bloody heritage that he never had any significant part in. They left the scene of the murder shortly afterward because they had only been hunting him, and now the job is done - but left Jeanfillier traumatized, alone without his husband, and facing the impending birth of his first child with no one to turn to. He entered an extremely volatile mental state, and without Viotent wasn't sure if he could raise the child on his own or be a good parent to them. And so, after Aldeaux was born, he took him to the nearby Tranquil Gardens orphanage, guilt and shame and grief weighing him down the way there and back, hoping that this future would be better for his son than a damaged widower like himself could ever be.The owner of the orphanage had the last name Tenovand, and Aldeaux took it for his own when he was a teenager. At some point after the main events of Stormblood, when Eorzea enters relative peacetime and Aldeaux's finally got some time to himself, he gets called to a little home in the south shroud about some kind of pest control - taking menial chores off of civilians' hands is a good way to pass the time - and when the elezen living there realizes that he's been sent the warrior of light, Aldeaux Tenovand, he begins to weep, because he never thought he'd see his son again.

OC Relationships - Canon and Post-Canon
Shortly after the events of Endwalker, Aldeaux got married to two other elezen whom he had met a few years prior during the events of Heavensward. Oliver Lune was a troubled dragoon living with the shadow of his dead father and brother behind him, rough around the edges and closed off to most. Caspian Voltaire was a paladin, polite to the point of hurting himself, stifled by his noble family and the bigotry of higher-class Ishgard.
Aldeaux met them through Haurchefant Greystone, the knight, and during those early months of looking for Lady Iceheart with the looming threat of Nidhogg on the horizon the four became close. When Haurchefant died, there was no one they could go to vent their grief but each other, and because Oliver and Caspian understood him and Aldeaux so well, the duskwight and two wildwood mourned together and stayed even closer as the Dragonsong War raged on. It was Nidhogg's possession of Estinien Wyrmblood, Oliver's one-time partner, that tipped their feelings toward each other over into something more romantic - Aldeaux saw how petrified and hysterical Oliver became after seeing his old friend's body be taken like a host for a parasite, and how Caspian's entire future hung on the same balance Ishgard's as a whole did, and wanted nothing more than to lift the pain and fear from their shoulders. After the massive confrontation on the Final Steps of Faith, Oliver and Caspian waited on the other side of the destroyed bridge to Ishgard for Aldeaux to emerge from the rubble alive, and the looks he saw on their faces when they realized he was okay made him realize that yes, he was in love with both of them. Oliver, the kind-hearted, and Caspian, now freed from his family, then joined him on his further travels as the inceasingly-well known Warrior of light.Through Stormblood, Caspian and Oliver were the only two who noticed how remarkably worse Aldeaux's mental health had gotten since Haurchefant's death. Not even the wide-open plains of the Azim Steppe or the picturesque cliffs of The Fringes could really lift his mood, even though he put on a smile for the scions, so in the private of an inn room or military tent, he confided in them his feelings and thoughts which not even his closest Scion friends knew. The slaying of Viceroy Zenos yae Galvus only made him worse, and the tension between the three finally came to a head when Oliver, along with young Alphinaud, both collapsed and fell unconscious on the same day, malms and malms apart. Eventually, Caspian (along with Krile and Tataru) were the only three people Aldeaux was close to who weren't in strange comas, and for the last few days before he too disappeared, he clung to Caspian's presence like a scared child, hoping and praying they wouldn't be parted. Unfortunately, life for the Warrior of Light isn't that simple, and the Exarch managed to pull Aldeaux to the first shortly after Alisaie went down.Caspian was left alone on the Source for the entirety of Shadowbringers, while Oliver worked with Aldeaux and the scions to save the First from tipping over to the light indefinitely. Oliver tried to absorb some of the lightwarden's energy from Aldeaux with G'raha during the confrontation atop Mt. Gulg, and as a result had one eye go completely white and had his dark hair bleached of color. He and G'raha were both held captive by the Ascian Emet-Selch while Aldeaux and the rest of the scions traveled down to Amaurot. After Hades and Elidibus returned to the Aetherial Sea, Aldeaux traveled back home for good and Oliver and the scions woke back up on the first thanks to their new teammate G'raha - Caspian was right there to greet them and welcome them home. The three stuck together like glue through Endwalker as much as they could - but at this point, Aldeaux was beginning to prefer they stay places that were safe instead of gallivanting off into dangerous territory with him, even though he knew they were both competent warriors themselves. They came to the moon to meet the Loporrits, and went to Garlemald to conquer the tower of Babil, but when the Final Days came to Thavnair Aldeaux pleaded with them to stay at Radz-at-Han for their own safety. He insisted they stay in the present whilst he journeyed to the past. It took extensive conversation, arguing, and convincing for him to let them join the scions on their journey to Ultima Thule via the Ragnarok. Aldeaux's worst fears about letting them come with him were realized when, along with Alisaie and Alphinaud, Oliver and Caspian lent their dynamis to Ultima Thule to create a path to the Meteia's nest for him. Holding onto Y'shtola's theory that the Azem stone could call all his loved ones back was the only thing that kept Aldeaux from breaking down completely. She was right (as always), and Aldeaux didn't care about embarrassing himself in front of Hades and Hythlodaeus as he embraced them in that field of Elpis flowers, kissing their cheeks and sobbing. They waited for him after the Endsinger was conquered on the Ragnarok, wondering where he was and what he was doing to stay behind, and thusly helped keep him alive while he was one second away from death after suddenly reappearing on the ship, battered and beaten from his final clash with Zenos.Their marriage was a quiet affair. Just the three of them, as well as an officiant moogle, promising the rest of their lives to each other no matter what. A couple years after they became husbands Aldeaux journeyed back to his childhood 'home' in the Southern Shroud, and adopted a 15-year-old duskwight elezen named Marinne. They took quickly to their three new parents, who were gentle with them and let them be themself in a new life far away from the unfavorable circumstances they grew up in, and they bonded especially well with Oliver, who shared their love for rock music and all things dark. When Marinne was 17 the three elezen welcomed a biological child of their own into the world; Primrose Tenovand, who would grow up to be a talented red mage who is as snarky as she is intelligent and loved deeply by her parents and sibling. She was joined by a little brother, Theo Tenovand, when she was three - he grew to be a quiet and kind young man who surprised everyone by becoming a dragoon like his father Oliver, and then surprised everyone again by being the kindest, softest dragoon anyone would ever meet (he even knitted a cozy for the head of his lance). When Theo was born, Oliver and Caspian were surprised to see his eyes were bright yellow, not Aldeaux's pink or Oliver's blue or Caspian's green - but Aldeaux knew after looking at him that his father Viotent's legacy had finally been secured. Jeanfillier's reaction to meeting his grandson will forever be one of Aldeaux's favorite memories, and the day Haurchefant introduced him to Oliver and Caspian is right there alongside it.

Personality:Aldeaux, from his years of fanangling young children and working for his local community, has what some might call the patience of a saint. He is generally soft-spoken, composed about 80 percent of the time, and like his young friend Alphinaud favors diplomacy over violence.
Of course, given his profession as a Black Mage, this may come as a surprise, but Aldeaux was surprised he enjoyed the job too. His up-close relationship with burning flames, blistering ice, and crackling thunder helps him cope with and become more comfortable with certain things that he once was terrified of. He uses his powers in every day life - a snap of his fingers to light a fireplace, a soft breath on a glass of wine to chill it. To Cid Garlond's delight, a touch to a dead piece of technology to jumpstart it back to life. Black magic is a savage's art to some, but with an elezen like Aldeaux wielding Shatotto's blessing, that opinion is subject to change. He curiously fell into the job on accident, but doesn't plan on leaving it behind any time soon.
While he was whisked away to the First and battling the Sin Eaters, Aldeaux started to feel like black magic wouldn't be enough. He felt slow, late, and weak - the endless threat of endless light did much to shatter his confidence in his skills and yearn for something different, something that felt better, something that felt more satisfying to beat the Lightwardens back with. He picked up the scythe, and with it gained an amiable (if somewhat timid) voidsent avatar named Lieto from what was left of the 13th, and after that, battled his way to Emet-Selch up close with a cruel blade instead of magic. Drusilla helped him finesse and harness his new skills once he returned to the source, and thus he placed his staff in careful storage and continued down his path as a Reaper.

Prominent Relationships:Alphinaud Leveilleur: After the bloody banquet of Ul'Dah, Aldeaux's subsequent time spent in Coerthas with Alphinaud made him fiercely protective over the young elezen and just as proud of his ability to bounce back from strife and learn from his mistakes. Aldeaux has never once forgotten that the young Leveilleur is only a teenager, and is suitably concerned with his wellbeing therein.Haurchefant Greystone: From that first mug of hot chocolate, Aldeaux was absolutely enamored with Haurchefant. He insists he never has nor ever will find a person kinder than he, and throughout the convoluted and months-long ending of the Dragonsong war, fell in love with him. He harbored a quiet yearning for Haurchefant that he only discovered was requited when he watched the light fade from Haurchefant's eyes.Urianger Augurelt: Aldeaux sees in Urianger a kindred spirit, scholarly and quiet and yet kind and loving, and wishes that he could spend more time with the man both during and outside of his duties. It was when he finally came to the First and learned for how long Urianger had been holding such world-shattering knowledge away from him and the rest of the scions that Aldeaux realized he cared for the self-sacrificial elezen more, and in a different way, than previously expected.Raubahn Aldynn: For a man who grew up without a parental figure of any kind, General Aldynn was one who Aldeaux quickly became attached to upon his introduction to Ul'Dah and the Immortal Flames. He greatly appreciates Raubahn's brutal wisdom and his quieter, more contemplative side, and more than once has imagined if his own father would have been so brave, so loyal, so steadfast, were he still alive. He will never forgive Ilberd for what he did to Raubahn.Jeanfillier Michaux: Jeanfillier officially came into Aldeaux's life perhaps 30 years after he should have, but once Aldeaux learned why, he was glad to have him in his life at all. From him, he learned of his family heritage and his duskwight progenitor who loved him before he ever met him, and found in Jeanfillier a different kind of family than any of the scions or his loved ones could provide. Jeanfillier nowadays is a solitary, cautious soul, but reintroducing himself to his son is helping him come out of his shell.

Currently:
Nowadays, after Endwalker and during current content, Aldeaux is in his late 30s and happily married to his two partners. His eldest child Marinne lives in Doma working as a ninja-for-hire, and his son and daughter still live at home for now. He primarily works as a reaper, but sometimes takes up his staff if magic is needed while doing Warrior of Light things. He still loves adventuring, seeing new sights and eating new foods and meeting new people wherever he goes. If one were to approach him he would more often than not greet them with a smile and a bow, striking up pleasant conversation and bragging about his kids. He's in a very happy place in his life, and it shows in his social charm.
