part of the reason why the whole “men/boys are taught not to cry!!!! its so sad for them!!!!” thing bothers me is because so many women i know went through childhood and young adult life staring into the middle distance in order to be taken seriously as people. its devastating to learn as a child that crying is associated with “femininity” weakness and hysteria and to witness all around you how these farcical patriarchal claims are used to dismiss women’s distress. different human emotions being assigned specific genders and “feminine emotions” specifically being belittled and degraded can actually make women recoil from them in order to be treated like a person, isn’t that funny

like the notion that men/boys grow up learning to be repulsed by their own emotional vulnerability (i.e. “femininity”) actually also extends to women and girls and everyone else too. the rest of us don’t just go through life happily and comfortably emoting and have those emotions received with open arms

genuinely concerning that people think “intifada,” which means revolution is somehow an extremely violent antisemitic word. These phases of treating the simple fact of something being in Arabic and being seen as violent are concerning and will infact lead to Arabs facing extreme rates of violence. We’ve seen this with “Allahu Akbar” and we need to call out attempts of framing Arabic as a violent language

Shut the fuck up about this already.

Absolutely no one can use this claim anymore and expect to be taken seriously, not when hostage families are finding out that Hamas had literally offered to release all civilian hostages as early as October 9 but the government rejected that offer.

Not when Israeli ministers are saying that hostage deals throw war goals in the “trash” in order to save hostages.

Not when Netanyahu rejected one offer after another including in December of last year, while hostage families are in the same room begging him to take action.

Not when Netanyahu literally only yesterday said that his “war” will continue with or without a deal.

So shut the fuck up about the hostages. Israel does not give a flying fuck about the hostages so don’t pretend this is about them. You have shown time and time again that you would rather let them starve to death and literally get killed than stop the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

Men and masculinity are not inherently bad or untrustworthy things and I don’t mean that in a ‘misandry is real and a problem’ way, I mean that in a 'I think some of you might have contracted minor radfem poisoning’ way

I must not mock Gen Alpha. Mocking Gen Alpha is the mind killer. Mocking Gen Alpha is the little-death that brings total generational solidarity obliteration. I will engage with Gen Alpha lovingly. I will permit them to be cringe. And when they grow up I will turn my eye to their accomplishments. Where mocking has gone there will be nothing. Only generational solidarity remains

The Kids are indeed Alright.

We must teach them the Lore of things,

like piracy, and how to find stuff at the Library, and Unions, and what it’s not legal for job applications to ask you.

when i hear complaints about the boomers, i say “was it not boomers getting shot by cops while protesting against the war in vietnam? Were not boomers the ones who insisted that banks would no longer require a cosign from a husband or father for a woman to open an account or have a credit card? Did they not literally take us to the moon?”

When i hear complaints about gen x i say “ did not gen x bear the brunt of AIDS and the creation of the ‘inner city’? wasn’t it gen-x marching for queer rights and women’s body autonomy and a change in corrupt banking policies in some of the largest protests in the country’s history?”

when i hear complaints about millennials, i say “have not millennials fought against and lived through so many 'once in a generation’ disasters they should by all rights have given up by now? Are not millennials those who rally against the status quo? the industry killers, the cop protesters, they who live through unending hardship as the economic noose tightens, leading the charge for sustainability and socio-economic reform?”

when i hear complaints about gen-z i say “hasn’t gen-z gotten involved younger, and been involved stronger, in the continuance of these noble traditions? Are they not living without even the broken pieces of the promise given to the generations that came before? haven’t they had their childhoods derailed by the imminence of consequences for actions they were never even present for?”

when i hear complaints about generation alpha i say “HOW DARE YOU. How dare you malign these souls who will have to fix so much that they did not have a hand in ruining… or else die of these mistakes made before they were born. How dare you do the work of our shared oppressors and alienate our fresh blood. You are not to mistreat and mock the youngest soldiers in this fight, no! you point out to them the best targets, you share your rations, you show them how to stay alive, because anyone in the trenches with us is our brethren, our sistren. Our safety and our strength.”

don’t let the worst kind of stand up comedian tell you other generations are terrible. Don’t let the worst kind of headline convince you each generation is against the other. Don’t let the worst kind of oppressive force keep us divided along lines that mean nothing real. Because that is how they win.

The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.

Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”

LET’S SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE

It is very rare that posting actually is activism.

But in this case, getting this man’s name trending on multiple platforms could literally save his life.

Exactly this ^^^

This is one of the very rare cases where the only thing we are being asked to do is make something go viral.

He will not be exiled again

I enjoy all parts of this post. The trans leash, the confusion, the heartfelt display of affection we give to our pets. The biography, the history lesson, and the morality of keeping cats indoors are all bonuses.

Hey thats me again.
