Robot disabilities. Robot who charges slowly and loses power incredibly fast and is always tired. Robot with malfunctioning lenses and can’t process visual information properly. Robot that can’t process anything too large and at a fast rate or else they’ll shut down. Robot with limbs screwed on too loose/just can’t attach correctly, so if they’re not careful they fall out. Robot disabilities,,,

Robots with cracked screens that they can't afford to fix. Robots with bent limbs. Robots who's cables are wonky and need to be particular about where they sit so they can charge. Robots who's vocal box is messed up so they have to use sign language. Robots who's fans are old and make a lot of noise. Robots who have malfunctioning chips and experience mental illness symptoms since they don't process the world the same as others.

I know someone who calls herself a feminist, puts her pronouns in her work email signature, donates money to women’s empowerment funds, and thinks we should deport more refugees. I also know someone who calls people ‘pussies’ when he plays video games, who doesn’t know what a pronoun is, and, for his defence of low-wage women workers in a highly-exploited industry, is a better, more strident defender of the rights of working-class women than almost anyone else I know. Of these two people, I know who is on my team, and who I want on my team, yet the standard liberal feminist calculation would have me chose the woman who loves a little deportation over the man who is occasionally uncouth, solely because the woman knows to keep her language civil, and the man doesn’t. Liberal feminists get incredibly caught up in the politics of language, because language is all they have. They don’t have a revolutionary programme for overthrowing patriarchy, so they’re forced to tinker around the edges of it, quibbling over word choice and jargon instead of building the coalitions necessary for destroying patriarchy.

Thinking about the two (male) coworkers I had a few farm jobs ago, one of whom was a very well spoken and politically knowledgeable self reported socialist who was nevertheless urging me to stay silent about the lower wages I was receiving so I didn't compromise his job. The OTHER one was a foulmouthed nineteen year old who didn't know what trans meant (but listened VERY well when I talked about it) and was absolutely up in arms about the wage inequality, and honestly any injustice in front of him. I'll let you guess which if them I'm still in touch with

Anonymous asked:

You're missing out on Drakes career going up in flames.Look up Kendrick Lamarrs new diss track on Drake and you will never look at him the same again

paper-mario-wiki answered:

are you saying that prodigy and arguably the greatest lyricist alive Kendrick Lamar of To Pimp A Butterfly fame was able to publicly humiliate pop rapper and child predator Drake? im shocked.

alright actually i was dismissing this because i dont really keep up with celebrity beef so most of it goes over my head but after listening kendrick did just release the most scathing diss track in rap history (not an exaggeration, i am speaking entirely non-hyperbolically when i say this).

and, to be clear since kendrick has released several diss tracks in a row over the course of the past few days, i am referring to Meet the Grahams, a song not directed at drake, but is instead Kendrick speaking slowly, softly, and sadly towards Drake's family members over a somber piano about how him being a terrible person has fucked up their lives while also revealing some incredibly direct and personal sexual misconduct allegations in the portion addressed to his mother, Sandra.

this is, like, historically important to rap music and it's kind of astonishing.

update:

i think it's important to recognize Meet the Grahams not as a piece of a dunking campaign, but as a sincerely heartbreaking and terrifyingly stark glimpse into the life of someone who has had predatory, vile behaviors enabled and had enough power to ignore anyone trying to get to him. i don't know that i'm capable of putting it into words, but this one feels a bit too important and sincere to treat as a "drake's funeral" anthem, even in an ironic tone.

that is reserved for the OTHER diss track that he released in the SAME DAY which has a much bouncier and "point and laugh" tone, which will have you going "OOOOOOOOOH MY GOOOOOOOOOD" in the first 90 seconds, regardless of whether or not you know anything about the beef.

that's this one:

MUTUALS IM SO OBSESSED WITH THE KENDRICK AND DRAKE SHIT PLEASEE LISTEN TO KENDRICKS SONGS BRCAUSE HOLY SHIT meet the grahams is insane it’s an insane song and everyone’s having insane reactions to it for a reason also i luv kendrick sry not sry his songs go hard .. me

in hindsight, it makes a lot of sense that macklemore would happily release a free palestine song that is AS balls-out anticapitalist and antiimperialist as it is, considering in 2011 he won a grammy with a song all about being poor and spending your money wisely while still being cool and looking fresh, bemoaning blind consumption.

it was a small domino to start with, sure, but the trail is there.

yes!

and that person just happened to be the person who is currently the most celebrated rapper in the world, Kendrick Lamar! he was apologizing for winning over Good Kid, M.a.a.d. City!

“You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and it sucks that I robbed you.”

funny enough, he did NOT apologize to the other artists, and two of them are Drake and Kanye, which is EXTRA hilarious considering how well that decision also aged.

if Broadway doesn’t want bootlegs floating around then they need to get their act together and make legal recordings.  you can say all you want that theater is meant to be enjoyed live, but the fact of the matter is not everybody can get to NYC to go to a Broadway show.  not everybody can afford to take the time off of work and buy a plane ticket to NYC and buy a night in a hotel AND get the ticket to the show.  people want to see the shows, that’s why there’s a bootleg market in the first place, but it’s unreasonable to expect that everyone has the time, money, and ability to make it out to the one place in the world to see something on Broadway, especially if it’s a limited engagement.  so record that shit, slap some subtitles on it, and sell it so we can buy it legally.

Reblogging this every time I see it. Copyright is important for creators but it should not support cultural elitism. Affordability and accessibility of cultural content is key unless we want to live in a very divided society.
