Hello and welcome to my art blog!

  • I’m Hazy but you can call me Dusk. I’m a Polish Icelandic 2D and 3D artist who loves to paint and sculpt characters. I draw quite a bit of fan art, mostly video game fan art, but I also have original characters.

You can find me on other social media:

  • not a poll but everyone needs to know about this because tumblr has introduced another toggle that should have been opted out by default

go to your blog settings and scroll all the way down to the visibility toggles. turn this ON.

tumblr's toggle switch for "prevent third party sharing" Prevent third-party sharing for [username removed] This option will prevent this blog's content from being shared with our licensed network of content and research partners, including those that train AI models.ALT

it may be turned on already if you have search turned off but its best to check anyway. this is not an account setting. you will have to do this for ALL of your individual sideblogs.

  • aight folks you have probably heard the news already about the AI thing. if it's indeed true then I'm outta here

  • looks like it's official

I urge every artist who sees this post to stop using tumblr. websites of AI shills are not worth using. consider using websites that don't actively sell data to generative AI companies

also any AI shill on this post will be blocked. you've been warned

  • hey tumblr, wazzat?

from tumblr TOS "When you upload your creations to Tumblr, you’re giving us permission to make them available in all the ways you would expect us to (for example, via your blog, RSS, the Tumblr Dashboard, etc.). We never want to do anything with your work that surprises you."ALT
  • Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.

AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.

    Here are the important details:

    • We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
    • We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
    • To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
    • For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
    • Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.

If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.

  • with Nightshade out, I want people to watch out for anyone claiming that Glaze and Nightshade are nothing but snake oil, and ask yourselves why the pro genAI crowd would suddenly care about artists when these tools are now out in the open. look at their rhetoric and analyze it. look at their word use and how they try to fearmonger. these should be immediate red flags

also be wary of anyone claiming that they defeated the disruptions by using any simple method such as screenshotting, blurring/unsharpening, resizing etc. these claims have been thrown against Glaze on social media for months without any proof to back them up. meanwhile, Glaze team has provided actual papers to back up research behind these disruption models. would you rather trust a source with research papers to back it up, or some rando with no background in data research claiming these disruptions have been defeated with nothing to back it up?

any claim that these disruptions have been defeated using simple methods and are nothing but snake oil to prey on fearing artists should be highly scrutinized and anyone spreading these claims should be highly questioned

with all of that said, I have to stress that you should keep in mind that AI models are constantly evolving and these disruptions can be defeated in the end. however, it costs time, money and resources for the companies that own these genAI models. this is why Glaze and Nightshade are game changers and why using them isn’t pointless, even when they do get defeated in the end. while genAI models are constantly evolving, so are Glaze and Nightshade

Nightshade and Glaze your art. you put time and labor into all of that, and you absolutely have the right to protect yourself

I’m not dead, I’m still checking the internet every day but I’ve taken a break from posting art online. I haven’t stopped creating art at all, I’ve simply lost interest in publishing it online for now

however, I’ll def be back for art fight though!

  • The Glaze Team at University of Chicago is conducting a survey which evaluates the ability of artists and software to distinguish between AI generated images and human made artwork

  • Hi all! Nightshade tests continue. We would also like to ask for artists' help on a new research study that evaluates the ability of artists and software tools to reliably separate generative AI images and art by human artists. Please help us on a survey: https://t.co/OvnHvUesMS β€” Glaze at UChicago (@TheGlazeProject) January 8, 2024ALT
This survey gives you a randomized selection of 20 images, some from verified human artists, some from generative AI models of different types. You're asked to identify which is which. It should take just a few minutes, and would be hugely helpful in our research. β€” Glaze at UChicago (@TheGlazeProject) January 8, 2024ALT
Results of this survey will be combined with other results, including answers from commercial genAI detection services, answers from research tools, and answers from crowdsourced workers (non-artists). Our report will be submitted for publication at end of Jan & posted online. β€” Glaze at UChicago (@TheGlazeProject) January 8, 2024ALT
Finally, this user study has been submitted to and passed through University of Chicago Institutional Review Board (IRB). β€” Glaze at UChicago (@TheGlazeProject) January 8, 2024ALT

    Survey link here!

    spread the word!

EDIT: As some users have already pointed out in the tags, opening the images in new tabs to zoom in will reveal whether they’re real or AI generated in the URL. Proceed with caution. If you accidentally spoiled yourself just say you’ve seen the image before and move on to a new one.

EDIT 2: Reblogs have been disabled as the survey has ended.

Quick followup to this. We greatly surpassed our target participant size just hours after releasing the study. Thank you all! We are closing the survey to protect the real art images from potential AI scrapers. β€” Glaze at UChicago (@TheGlazeProject) January 9, 2024ALT
  • the process of creating art is what makes it art. meaning is engendered into every decision made while bringing a concept to life. even the most minor and arbitrary choices - the color of a pixel, the placement of a line, a choice of punctuation, a note in a song - are made by a person whose lived experiences drove them to make that choice. that meaning doesn't have to be complex or revelatory; often it's as simple as a person subconsciously choosing what they like best in the moment. art does not have to be deep, or even "good" to be meaningful. it just has to have humanity in it

  • Thinking of taking my mom on a cruise.

She’s been through a lot in the last 24 hours.

    Anyone wanna commission me? :)

Email iubworks.contact@gmail.com if you want to help me treat my mom! ❤️

  • Winter is coming, so if you want good art at reasonable (actually, low) prices ($300-400 for similar quality) you can have it now. Later, I will either not be able to draw in Photoshop and will be forced to switch to drawing on the iPad, or I will work from a coworking space.

Last winter, as a result of attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine by the Russians, blackouts lasted up to 2-3 days, and the electricity per day was barely enough to charge power banks. The same is expected this winter. Some co-working spaces have generators, but this will affect the prices of art. So if you want such an illustration with one or more characters, you can write to me now :)

I can also paint stickers for you (20 each, 100 for 6) and there are many other options for a lower price

Oh, and even though I need the money, I'm willing to give a discount for interesting projects, so feel free to contact me with questions
