  • So now that I’ve tested out how this works and looked around a bit, let me (re-)introduce myself:

    Lairai 21+ They/Them CET

Hi. I’m Lairai. I made this account when I was an angsty teenager. I am no longer an angsty teenager.

When I had the account originally, I mostly used it to look at Mystic Messenger and The Arcana posts. I made some fan art for both that I shared here, but most of my friends were over on DeviantArt at the time so I was more active there.

But as many of you know, DA was bought by Wix eventually, and has been degrading in quality and community slowly but surely. There’s questionable art without mature tags, most new posts earn you a DM from a bot asking you to hand over your banking details, and if the bots can’t get you in your messages they will at least comment on the actual post. And the team is too focused on trying to sell their premium membership and, as of now, making AI art to do anything about the plethora of issues plaguing the site. So here I am.

I used Tumblr to follow a handful of artists that mostly post D&D content, since OCs and roleplays and (primarily medieval) fantasy are favourites of mine, and I hope to share my endless sea of sketches, both from RPs or just for fun, here. I am also one of the two people developing the Pools of the Niravar ARPG, hosted on DA/Weebly/Discord. I haven’t seen much ARPG art here, but this one is lore-based and story-driven, so hopefully my art for it won’t be too boring to look at.

‘Past lives couldn’t ever come between us.’

Do you ever just get an art piece idea and then work on this new project relentlessly for days on end? That’s what happened with this one. After browsing through artwork made by a variety of artists who possess both way more bravery and way more skill than I do, I was tempted to try out a piece with a non-traditional colour palette. And, well, the best way to learn how to do it is to just try. So here we are.

My Mirabile Visu and @hirundine ’s Claude have had one of my favourite unplanned character development arcs of all time. Not only do they both come from environments that shaped them into being horrible people, they both got out of said environments and managed to do a complete 180° in terms of personality, morals, and behaviour. And along the way, they also managed to fall in love, too.

    “I just like it.”

Twisting Pathways entry for the Sweet Challenges event over in Realm of Serpents. I will never not find this dialogue option funny.

Cleo the Inaurate is my player character from Realm of Serpents. Artwork inspired by and dialogue based on Baldur’s Gate 3.

I’ll still be posting here primarily, but made a profile there in case I ever want a different site. Plus it doesn’t compress my images horribly so that’s pretty nice.

I promise it’s not as blurry as tumblr makes it out to be

Been a while since I painted some tarot card-esque pieces, so here’s the Three of Swords for my Realm of Serpents character, Reshava! No one gets rid of their business rivals quite as well as they do.

Back with another goofy new character I'm obsessed with. This is Pres short for Precious bc I saw that name in dmnes and knew I had to use it and they're an angry goth assassin who's best friends with... an equally angry weasel.

My character concepts are unparalleled in their stupidity this year but I'm having a lot of fun. I'd explain what's up with their eyes but I don't feel like subjecting ya'll to my convoluted fantasy worldbuilding today.

    Pools of the Niravar

An ARPG with a living story and focus on character development.

Find out more about the group here

    [ Elyathil 1348 & Isarnor 1177 ]

One of the hardest and most important parts of growing up is learning through experience. Depict a time when your Niravar learned an important life lesson. Was it something practical, or a lesson that helped advance their personal growth?

Isarnor and Elyathil have now completed their Obsidian Accord training, but their paths were forcibly split - each of them was assigned to a different Toneru tribe. They part ways, knowing that next time they meet, they may not be allies any more.

See the timelapse for this piece here.

I am traumatising my cat children again :]

2023 art summary. This year... sucked in terms of personal life, but I did create some artwork I'm pretty happy with. Lots of collabs in this post!

    Template is by necromoss.

For once, perhaps, everything would be alright.

    [ Elyathil 1348 & Isarnor 1177 ]

An important part of growing up is reminiscing about the choices you made in your youth. Show your Niravar revisiting an important location or object from when they were young. What does it remind them of?

Isarnor and Elyathil visit an old training spot after they’re both accepted into the Obsidian Accord.
