NOT AS INTERESTING OF AN ANSWER I mentioned he was from a family of scholars, he did a LOT of convincing to be allowed to “Study” in Baldur’s Gate, a lot along the lines of “know thy enemy” and “wordly experience” and this that and the other. That said, he did promptly fake his own death and change his name after getting there. In my own little personal canon , his family was utterly unconvinced by the whole charade and if he were a companion a lot of his personal quest would be about keeping his family from dragging him back or worse! You didn’t ask but his quest would be called “A Bard Out of the Dark” He He

IN A FEW WORDS : NOT VERY HIGHLY

Alyffyn was raised in a family of academics and tacticians, and the strict hierarchies of the Lolth-sworn and the Underdark in general is why he didn’t realize he was trans until well into adulthood, and that was after speaking to people from the surface sharing their experiences with him. There was a lot of pressure to do well in his studies and take on the family name so…there was a BIT of a crisis coming to the realization that he was in fact, a he, and therefore a “failure”. His escape to the surface and becoming a bard was a big journey of self-realization and wanting to spread stories that impacted others the way the stories from traders in the Underdark impacted him. He still…has a LOT of unpacking to do from an upbringing in the underdark and even though he’s unpacked a lot of the sexism he still finds himself defaulting to certain hierarchies within camp and is a very “cool under pressure, has the panic attack LATER” kind of man because of the intense pressure he was used to being under.

He thinks Lolth-sworn society is crippling and cultish, almost completely swinging the other way in being very individualistic and always pressing people to act upon their own desires. On the surface it seems like a genuine passion of personal freedom in which he has a very “WOO RAH RAH” attitude that matches his jovial demeanor. Once you get him to open up though…see above.

Also he did not hesitate to shove Minthara down a pit. I didn’t know she was recruitable until I saw people talking about it on Tumblr.
