a Coven divided

After her dethronement, the old queen found an unlikely refuge among a coven of wild vampires, drawn by the affection of their leader towards her. However, this decision proved to be the catalyst for their downfall, as it attracted unwanted attention from various factions seeking to exploit the former monarch for their own gain.As tensions escalated, the coven's sanctuary became a battleground, beset by adversaries from all sides. Despite pleas from some members to prioritize their safety and abandon the queen, the coven leader remained steadfast in their commitment to protect her, even at the cost of their own well-being.Amidst the chaos, dissent brewed within the coven. Some members, disillusioned by their leader's misplaced loyalty, chose to sever ties and depart, ultimately ousting their once-respected leader. This schism fractured the coven, dividing them into two factions: those who remained loyal to their leader and the queen, and those who prioritized the safety of their vampire family above all else.

Aftermath of the war between land and sea

In the distant past, a fierce conflict raged between the realms of land and sea. In the present era, a modest nation known as Viaterra, still nursing grievances from the ancient strife, reignited the flames of war, despite the fragile peace that had endured for millennia.Amidst this resurgence of hostilities, the city of Orthos fell under the sway of the merfolk. Their sudden incursion left Orthos reeling, its streets scarred by the ravages of battle, its citizens grappling with the aftermath of occupation.Following the cessation of hostilities, the merfolk withdrew, leaving Orthos to contend with a myriad of post-war challenges. Among these, a notable power vacuum emerged, precipitated by the ousting of the former queen during the merfolk's reign. Now, Orthos finds itself mired in adversity. The city's infrastructure lies in ruins, its economy crippled by the toll of conflict. Social discord simmers in the alleyways and markets, as various factions vie for dominance, each harboring aspirations to take advantage of the power vacuumThe war between land and sea had spurred a wave of technological advancements, with the most crucial of these innovations being the development of flying warships. These aerial vessels allowed the humans to maintain a strategic advantage, staying well above the reach of the Merfolk while engaging in battle. This revolutionary technology was a game-changer, altering the course of the conflict and offering newfound hope to those fighting against the forces of the deep.prompts

The cartel

In the icy wilderness of the Arctic, a man known far and wide as Malcom Cromwell emerged, leading a notorious cartel that specialized in hunting rare and exotic animals. From the poorest of the poor to the most eccentric aristocrats, his clients knew no bounds. But Malcom was not content with the life of a common mob boss. In a bid to wash away the stains of his criminal past, he set his sights on distant shores, expanding his nefarious enterprise overseas. To facilitate this, he entered into a partnership with a Ukrovian shipping company. However, the head of this Ukrovian shipping outfit was no paragon of virtue either. He'd clawed his way to the top through dubious means, amassing power and wealth.Malcom also engaged in what seemed like philanthropic acts. One such act involved the supposed rescue of a village of enslaved Naga, serpent-like humanoid creatures. Orthos / Roleplay setting

The world map

The time period for the Roleplay is generally medieval. Some parts may not be entirely historically accurate, but that is the general era. The tone is rather gritty/serious. Of course there can be funny moments, cute moments, so on and so forth, but this isn’t a spoof Roleplay. Things that happen in this Roleplay, and inter-character relationships have an impact on the lore.the majority of the roleplay takes place in the kingdom of Orthos. Orthos bears a reputation tainted by its turbulent past, especially concerning its monarchy.Throughout the annals of time, Orthos has suffered a seemingly endless cycle of monarchs being overthrown and revenge plots spiraling into perpetual conflicts. This relentless cycle of power struggles and vengeance has cast a shadow over Orthos, earning the kingdom a wary eye from its neighboring realms.Current events in Orthos:Originally, Orthos was a human kingdom, but its history took a dramatic turn when it fell under the dominion of the Merfolk. Since that shift in power, a few aquatic inhabitants have ventured inland, making Orthos their second home. It’s been discovered a coven of vampires have made a den of the abandoned manor deep in the woods.

Other species

Below are some of the species in the roleplay. These are not the only species available in the roleplay , they are just some species that have different lore in roleplay than in real life.Aristocratic vampires
Aristocratic vampires are a unique subset within the vampire community, having branched off from the main vampire lineage long ago. Unlike their more primal counterparts, these vampires have adapted to blend in among human society, particularly within aristocratic circles.
Physically, they are smaller and less robust compared to feral vampires, but this diminutive stature helps them resemble humans more closely. This resemblance aids in their efforts to conceal their true nature from unsuspecting humans, allowing them to move about in society without drawing attention. Additionally, their physical transformation assists them in hunting, as they can approach their prey without raising suspicion.Despite their smaller size, aristocratic vampires possess heightened magical abilities, often displaying these powers earlier in their development than feral vampires. This magical prowess, combined with their innate charm and manipulative tendencies, makes it easier for them to lure unsuspecting victims into their grasp, ensnaring them before striking. In essence, aristocratic vampires have evolved to navigate the complexities of human society while maintaining their vampiric nature, using their magical abilities and charm to survive and thrive in the shadows.Feral vampires
Feral vampires are a distinct breed of vampires that stand apart from their aristocratic counterparts. Unlike aristocratic vampires, who blend into human society, feral vampires adamantly reject integration and instead thrive in the wilderness.
Physically imposing and possessing immense strength, feral vampires exhibit a wild and bestial appearance, resembling creatures from ancient folklore rather than humans. This physical manifestation reflects their proud embrace of their primal nature.Beyond their formidable physique, feral vampires have evolved biological adaptations tailored to their predatory lifestyle. Their saliva serves a dual purpose, acting as both a muscle relaxant and an anti-coagulant, aiding in the feeding process. They often rely on ambush tactics to catch their prey off guard in the wild.Preferring solitude over the company of humans, feral vampires seek refuge in dark and remote places like caves and underground passages. They avoid civilization's light, finding solace in the shadows of nature. In contrast to the smaller covens of aristocratic vampires, feral vampire groups are notably larger and function as tight-knit familial units. These groups are led by a matriarch or patriarch who guides their kindred through the challenges of their primal existence, ensuring their survival in the wild.

Other kingdoms

Below are the main kingdoms, and a list of prominent figures. These prominent figures aren’t all of the ocs necessarily, just characters or NPCs with some amount of fame, that your characters would know aboutUkroviaUkrovia is a kingdom of humans, found on an island to the south east of the world. Hailing for a now long forgotten, frigid land, the Ukrovian people are renowned for their expert seamanship and trade networks. Their navy is perhaps the strongest in the world.Ukrovia only has a singular city, with 3 villages, and mutiple settlements dotted around the world. These settlements are more like Ukrovian owned ports, most of which spawned the beginnings of a town/village to support them. Their capital, Ulbrichta, is an incredibly lively place. Serving as the base of operations for most trade in and out of Ukrovian ports, it may as well be the trade capital of the world. Many goods flow through the city daily, and thus, the city is rather well off.As expected, Ukrovia is incredibly involved in world politics. They want to remain up to date, so they can ensure their trade remains largely untouched by world events. While they have gone to war in the past, you probably won't see many ground troops. If Ukrovia goes to war, it's usually on the sea..Prominent figures :Viaterravibrant colors paint the landscape, while the aroma of seafood delicacies fills the air. This captivating country, known for its culinary delights and rich artistic heritage, holds a deep-seated prejudice towards sea creatures and merfolk, a lingering scar from a war fought with the sea thousands of years ago. Despite this history of conflict, the resilient people of Viaterra have carved out a world where art and architecture flourish, while music weaves its melodic tapestry through cobblestone streets.Prominent figures :
Agnes Fischer - The ambitious young woman that climbed the ranks of the Viaterran military, and encouraged the second war with the Merfolk
The underwaterIn contrast to the relatively advanced world on land, the underwater realm is considerably more primitive. While there are indeed intelligent underwater races, they are few and scattered. Among these submerged civilizations, the Merfolk stand as perhaps the most prominent. They possess a rich and ancient history, ruled by their time-honored monarch, King Padeo. However, in the vast expanses of the ocean, these Merfolk are but a small fraction of the population. The majority of the ocean's depths are inhabited by untamed beasts and monstrous creatures, where chaos and survival of the fittest prevail. It's a world where nature's raw power reigns supreme. The Merfolk have harbored a longstanding animosity towards the world above the surface. The war that unfolded thousands of years ago between land and sea left deep scars and bitter memories, making the Merfolk resentful of the land-dwellers. This resentment only intensified when, after millennia of peace, hostilities from the land began anew. The Merfolk found themselves once again under attack, reigniting old grievances and setting the stage for a conflict born from long-standing distrust and enmity.Despite their scattered existence, the various underwater races find a common bond in times of dire need, especially when faced with a common enemy. When the threat is great, they set aside their differences and unite as one. This unity has led to the concept of 'the underwater' being recognized as a single kingdom, despite the diversity of its inhabitants.Within the Merfolk culture, there exists a unique tradition that honors the wisdom and guidance of their departed leaders. Whenever a member of the Merfolk royal family or a prominent and wise figure passes away, their essence is preserved in a sacred relic known as "the Heart of the Sea."This mystical shell serves as a vessel for the souls of these esteemed individuals. The last kings and queens of the Merfolk possess the ability to commune with the spirits contained within the Heart of the Sea, seeking their counsel and wisdom to guide the next generation of leaders.Prominent figures :Padeo - the ancient Merfolk king
Aura - the ancient Merfolk queen
Caravel - a large serpent, created by the Merfolk king to help with the first war. He wasn’t finished until just before the second war
Chordelo - kingdom of the birds
Chordelo, the Kingdom of the Rito, sits on the northeastern edge of the map. Within it's borders, Chordelo contains two major cities (Kiltak and Feltar), along with 11 villages, and 4 settlements, scattered around.
The capital of the kingdom, Feltar, sits in a dense jungle in the northern part of Chordelo. Though, I only call Chordelo a kingdom as it's easier to classify. In reality, Feltar is the home of the Elder Council. Currently, there are 12 members, with one elected head of the council. Each of the council members hail from a different city or village/town, in an attempt to bring to late issues any part of Chordelo may have, not just the main population centers. The elected head is like the other members, they were just elected by the populace to be the head of it. Like a speaker. Historically, this speaker has usually been the Feltar representative. The Rito, while they accept trade and communications with the outside world with open arms, tend not to get tangled up in the affairs of other kingdoms. They've been neutral in most other conflicts in the world, with very few exceptions. They instead decided to save the energy for themselves, as there has been an ongoing power struggle between the two big cities. The first civil war, having long since passed, was won by Feltar. However, the two have been fighting each other politically and financially for years. Tensions have risen, and soon, the Rito may find themselves at the brink of yet another civil war..

Getting started

Activity expectations
If you know you will not be active for a long period directly after you join the server, please tell a leader around when you think you will be ready to get started. If you do not tell a leader you will be on hiatus directly after joining, do not submit a character and join a roleplay within the first week of joining the server, you will be kicked. This saves our moderation team from having to chase people down, and the server from filling up with inactive people.
We expect our members to be relatively active. Of course, life comes first, but a message a day goes a long way! This doesn’t necessarily have to be a roleplay reply, and it is just a rough guideline. it shows that even if you are too busy to begin a roleplay, you are still interested in the server and the communityAdding characters
To add your ocs, you head over to the characters chat, and create a thread! From now on, whenever you add a character, you will add them here! People tend to have multiple ocs, so having them all in one place instead of scattered about the whole chat is far more efficient
Character creation rules:
To surmise, you cannot make a character that would either contradict another’s story, existence, or affect balancing negatively
For more specifics / people that prefer more guidelines:- Most species are allowed, but unless it is an original or very obscure species, your oc cannot be the ‘last one’
- Gods of creation, or very powerful ancient gods are not allowed as characters in of themselves. They can be made in relation to another (eg for a warlock), after approval from a mod
- your character profile (be that toyhouse or a message) must include: name, age, gender, species, appearance, backstory, and abilities (if any)
Finding a Roleplay partner
If you don’t have anyone specific in mind you want to roleplay with, you can head over to the roleplay-requests chat, and send a request. This will ping everybody with the role. The role is opt in.
Timeskips
In order to keep everyone on the same approximate time, and keep the story going, every month or so there will be a smaller Timeskip on the roleplay. You can be alerted of these with the opt in ‘Timeskip’ role. These Timeskip announcements with include things like the season, the average weather, and major roleplay events, in order to keep everyone up to date with what’s going on.
Adding character specific chats
We’re more than happy to have character specific chats, but in order avoid clutter from people joining, requesting chats, leaving quickly and leaving our mods to find and delete the chat, there is a level requirement
You have to be at least level 10 on mee6 to have a character-specific chat added
