SETTING

Theme

In 21XX the world is advanced enough for technologies far more complex and unfathomable for the average citizen. Not unlike in old medieval times, when common folks mistook technology for magic, so does the evolution of science enable talented individuals to use abilities beyond common comprehension.Only certain talented members of the society are allowed to join the Phanteon Trial. A harsh and proving test with the promise of great reward, scientist under the supervision of the government created to test and study so said gifts as well as to make a fortune and entertain the poor and miserable, making them forget their misfortune watching others suffer.Aside a handful of cases via the black market's deepest circles, there is no other known source except the winning prize of said Trials. Needless to say the list of questions are longer than the hopefuls, trying to win the cure for the disease known as the Stain. Much is unknown about the whys and hows, veiling the real motive of the government in mist. What truth lies behind the tall walls of the Trial grounds?

Gamplay

The campaign will be run with 5th edition of D&D, borrowing a mildly simplified system (speed and armor types will be not a factor for ProjectLAZARUS) with custom classes, abilities, mobs and items.Linear leveling system will be implemented, where players can earn XP through certain activities such as creation of art or role playing and exchange it to levels, skills, items and customables.

A continent which once bloomed and prospered. Forests which had no end to them, rivers with water clear enough to be able to drink without purification and skies with unbearable fresh air. A world once uncharted and pure for the corruption of evolution.A view no-one can really imagine anymore. With the sudden appearance of a new apex predator it took not much time for the species to conquer the untouched lands. Under a blink of an eye evolution took over and the felines form tribes, civilisations and let room for their technology to take over their morality. Conflict is the nature of ours and as such history has been not spared from its bloody influence. The world had it wars, wounded, scarred even, however always finding a way to heal and survive. Just like the habitants claiming this planet theirs.In modern times our only continent is populated to its fullest. Only some nations remained to be able to claim untouched natural areas, keeping forests and grasslands protected from the destructive touch of their own kind. Nations residing in the single continent and close to it have their own regulations, own believes and own demons. Some of them face economical issues, some of them suffer from ethnical dangers and population crisis and some of them are currupt, led by nothing else but a mortal god: money.After the outbreak borders have been closed for a long time, pushing nations to the brink of collapse, forcing the government to open their gates endangering the spread of Stain. Even with that risk, they had to make sure infrastructure and transport continues and the citizens are spared from starvation or a civil uprising.

Midan

Capital city of Zone 13 is housing the world leading research company: HaLoCor. In the short spawn of the recent years the city started to bloom and masses tried to migrate here in hope of a better life. A fortune was spent to support the research and technological investment, making the upper classes prosper. However, as the saying goes: the rich become richer and the poor becomes poorer, the sudden exposure to attention and investors enables the city to nurture a darker side to it, offering black market, illegal transaction and crime zones to get significant.Ever since the ivory walls of the Trial Grounds have been constructed, after the discovery of a vaccine, many tried to get a hold of it avoiding the trial process, ready to commit to any means just to acquire a single shot. Many tried with no success. HaLoCor holds the key to salvation and is adamant on proceeding with the Trial, so the despair of many and much. The island is a fortress hosting not only the Trial Ground, but barracks to support the non-stop military presence, Warehouses and God knows what else.

Body Modifications

Because of the advancements in science, characters are allowed to have prosthetic limbs/body parts. We will not limit you on these so feel free to make as many as you desire.

Starting Gear

A character may only bring one item with them to start with. this starting item will have no stat bonus to it, but can change character behaviour.For example it could be an eye implant, ahearing amplifyer or a half-syntetic limb.Later in the game players will have option to upgrade equipment or items.

Barcodes

Each character has been marked with a barcode on their body. You can be creative with it! It can be placed anywhere on your character’s body.

Naming

Most cats have to names to claim, one is given to them at birth by their mother or father and the other is the family name carried through generations.

Afflicted Acquaintance

Make sure to give your character a reason to sign up for the trials. As the reward is a share of vaccine for the Stain, make sure to have an infected relative, friend or an important person in your character's life.

ACTIVITY

Even though the group will only be available till a given period of time due to the campaign structure (2023 March - 2023 December), we will not operate on an extremely strict activity check. Due to the limited slots and short time it will be expected from players to be around and active, however we are all adults and real life, as is, is something we consider, as well as the global localisation of players wishing to join from every corner of the world.

Thinkers and well wersed individuals in technolody and in fine combat arts. They are more likely to not rush to conclusions or headfirst into battle before serious consideration and research.If it comes to no other alternative, they usually find a smart way to combat, or get a job done.

Juno, a powerful Goddess, equal to the God of Gods, mighty protector of her subjects. Charismatic beauty and fierce opponent, she is said to possess ethereal beauty and vital powers.

For those gathered under the name of her are a must to be powerful, often being in possession of strong leadership abilities, high skills in conversations and none the less a charismatic appearance. Should you step on their tails, be prepared to meddle with a mighty foe, who will not fail to surprise in your demise.

The group was originally founded by a pair of brothers that each had qualities to lead on their own merit, but together, they were a force to be reckoned with. One often brandished his strength during trials, while the other used his intellect to help his team evade the many dangers that threatened to stop them. Perhaps those very traits they owned are what lead to their downfall...

These individuals are typically fighters who are not afraid to ask dangerous questions, and often face danger head-on with an uncanny boldness that’s not often seen. This group is truly a wild card that everyone should be careful of. They are a colorful bunch, however, at the end of the day, they keep one another close, as though they are small a family. Sticking up for one another and defending each other at the drop of a dime.It wouldn't be wise to underestimate them and their willpower.

This user’s psionic abilities are infused with their weapon of choice, making their attacks a deadly combination of melee damage and short-ranged psychic attacks that are sure to bring any target down.

This caster uses the secrets of arcane magic to unleash devastating damage upon their foes, but they must be careful, for they have very little health and can be injured quite easily.

How combat works?

Our battle system will be highly similar to the mostly well known 5th edition D&D battle system, changes only made to make it easier on database end and to the players. Should you be someone new to the system, or battle itself or a veteran we hoped you will find no problem to getting comfortable with it.

Battle as it is, a turn event chain, where players react to the presented situation, make decisions and work together (hopefull) to overcome the obstacles presented by your GM. Actions are executed throug rolling, let it be using a skill or asking for certain skill checks (fe.: stealth check, exploration ckec, intimidation check and so on).

In ProjectLAZARUS we make no differnece in fighting, when it comes to battle your environment or your fellow players.

Actions and Skills

Actions and Skills are opions for you to spend your turn with. It is optional to the player what they are wishing to do, be advised, however. Your choices will effect the outcome of the combat. Sometimes not rushing headfirst into battle or doing nothing might be a better solution.

Action

Movement
Change of location actions, where a character decides to spend their turn looking for a favourable position for themselves.
Movement is a secondary action, which means a character is able to exectute a movement action and an attack in each turn.

Action
An offensive or defensive action, where the user either uses a skill or and attack/defence ability. Could be an auto attack, a spell, a preparation spell, heal and such actions.

Bonus Action or Reaction
An offensive or defensive action, which comes up only to corespont to other actions. Such as reflecting damage, a counter attack, or a triggered action.

Skills
Skills or spells are either tied to player class or an item/equipment.

Resting
Only can be used out of combat to regenerate stamina or mana pool. Hit points can only be regenerated via healing or certain items.

Status Effect

Frightened
Character's actions are rolled with disadvantage.

Blind
Character has a 0% hit chance on auto attacks.

Silence
Target is unable to perform skills.

Stun
Target is unable to perform actions.

Haste
Character is able to perform a double action.

Vigor
Character's actions have granted critical hit chance.

Accuracy
Character has granted 100% hit chance.

Inspired
Character's actions are rolled with advantage.

Rolling

Battles and check are decided by the might of the dice. Generally if you wish to alter the plot in any way, aquire knowlege or insight or execute anything you will need to roll for it.

Dice

Rolling works via tatsu discord bot.
The dices used in our game will be:
d4 (4 sided dice)

Rolling for an attack

When you want to attack, you declare it to the table (however you like, and I encourage you to get descriptive). Your DM should let you know if your character has any bonuses or penalties. They’ll then ask you to roll for an attack. You’ll take your d20, roll it, and add your Attack Modifier to that number. Finally, compare the total number against the Armor Class (AC) of your target.In pvE situation enemy AC's are usually not revealed to players.Stepps as follows:

  1. Declare an Attack

  2. Determine bonuses & penalties (Advantage or Disadvantage)

  3. Roll 1d20 (one 20-sided die)

  4. Add your Attack Modifier to the number rolled

  5. Compare the total to the AC of your target

If your attack matches or beats your target’s AC, you score a hit. Also, if you roll a natural 20, you score a critical hit.

Rolling for an auto attack

If you’re using a weapon, you’ll use whatever damage die corresponds with the weapon.Make sure you know which die or dice to use when rolling damage.Now, you add either your Strength or Dexterity modifier to the damage. Which one you use depends on the type of weapon.Stepps as follows:Total Damage = Damage Die + Ability Modifier

Spellcasting

Spells work different than mundane weapon attacks. While they have a set damage die like weapons, most spells don’t add your spellcasting ability modifier to damage. It depends on the wording of the spell or cantrip. So, make sure you know the details of what you’re casting.

Below you will find a handy gude and eplanation of each battle releated words and terms.

PvE
Player versus Environment. A battle type where players fend agains non player characters or monsters.

PvP
Player versus Player. A battle type where players fend agains other player characters.

HP
Hit Points. The total health a character has. Upon losing all a character will get KO-d, unable to continue fighting, or even die.

AC
Armour Class. Your character's defense. the number decides if you get hit or not without executing dode or other skills.

Iniciative
Determines the number of which a player can exectute its actions compared to others. The power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do.

Perception
Passive wisdom. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses or knowledge.

Combat Terms

Critical Hit
A 20 roll on the d20 dice. Either means double damage on the attack or opcional custom action accepted by your GM.

Critical Failure
A 1 roll on the d20 dice. Either means double damage on hit or opcional custom penalty accepted by your GM.

Single target Attack
An attack which only afect a single target.

AoE Attack
Area of Effect attack, which takes effect in a zone, hitting multiple targets.

DoT
Damage over Time effect, a damage type which takes effect throutght multiple rounds.

HoT
Heal over Time effect, a healing type which takes effect throutght multiple rounds.

Buff
Beneficial effect to someone.

Debuff
Noneneficial/Negative effect to someone.

CC
Crowd Control. Any movement altering effect.

Seraph

XP Shop
Seraph, a six-winged angel; the highest choir or order of angels in Christian angelology, ranked above cherubim, and below God. Make no mistake, however the distributor importing the goods into the Trial Grounds, offering you the chance to surpass the biological limitation of yours is not the guardian angel they are posing as. The origin or manufacturing of the questionable products are unknown, however they do seem to work without any drawback. There are no information if the dealer is working for HaLoCor or an independent merchant, however it seems the managed to offer a solid and stable platform to make your purchase.
