[Imagine, if you will, some terrible 90s VHS-style intro music, but with every other beat removed.]
Hey kids, we’ve had some fun here, but it’s time to get real for a second.
So, I’ve been doing this for a bit now, and I think it’s important that y’all know the history of this sort of music!
Essentially, this every-other-beat thing was not created by me; it was invented by the wonderful @paulsultimatearchive! You might recognize him as the original creator of 250 miles, which is the every-other-beat version of 500 Miles by The Proclaimers.
There are other people who have made super cool every-other-beat songs as well (@spudislander for example), but as far as I know, Paul is the originator here. I mean, he made his song in 2013, that’s way before this became a thing.
(Know Your Meme is actually wrong about this in their article. They say it began in 2017, and their audio example isn’t even an every-other-beat song, it’s just a song with only the backing vocals. Paul tried to get someone to update this, but so far, no dice.)
I got started in this because I listened to 250 miles on repeat for ages, just choking laughing. It’s the funniest fucking thing, truly! But it got me thinking, and I started experimenting with the Infinite and Eternal Jukeboxes, and I started making some of these skipped-beat songs for myself.
My first song post was in April of 2018, but this blog had none followers with left beef until about May 22nd 2019. So, you can see how I’m actually kind of new to the game, haha.
Anyway, I’m happy to be here, and I’m so glad that y’all are enjoying what I do! But let’s not forget those that came before us, paving a path for us that allowed this pure nonsense to exists.
“Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” with every second beat removed
hey. what the fuck does this mean
