The Nursery
THE BASICS
Peluchies are small sentient plush toys that resemble human beings. They have plushy appendages, soft fur, rubbery skin, and an eye attached to their plushy tails.
The Peluchies name is derived from the french word "Peluche" which describes a soft toy or stuffed animal.
THE NURSERY
The nursery is a hidden place among the tallest trees, shrouded in pillowy clouds, far away from human eyes. The Toymaker lives here with all of their beloved creations, both newly born and those that have returned back home.

THE TOYMAKER
A Peluchie is a sentient plush toy created by a mysterious being called "the Toymaker". Captivated by humans, the Toymaker created Peluchies in their image. To create a Peluchie, the Toymaker breaks off a piece of their soul to give life to their creation. They then place the piece of soul inside the Peluchies chest, along with some stuffing, and sew the Peluchie's body together. With each Peluchie created, the less The Toymaker remembers about themself. Once the baby Peluchie awakens for the first time, the Toymaker raises the Peluchie in it's homeland called the Nursery.
THE BIRTH OF A PELUCHIE
Baby Peluchies grow quickly, and require a lot of love and attention. The Toymaker raises each baby Peluchie in the growth shelter, until they are around 2-3 weeks old. At around 3 weeks old, a Peluchie is able to talk, walk, and is ready to be released into the human realm for a child to find and take home with them.

PURPOSE
A Peluchie's initial purpose is to provide comfort and companionship to a child as they grow older. Once a Peluchie is no longer needed by the child, they might set off to look for another child to care for, or leave and make their own path.
Peluchies may also return to the Nursery to live with the Toymaker, the Toymaker may even send them to the Toybox Realm which houses all wayward and retired Peluchies!

Afflictions
Afflictions are rare conditions that effect Peluchies status, physical or base form. There are not that many known at this time but they are considered special.
Pelu Affliction: Cuddlerot
Cuddlerot is an irreversible affliction that sometimes effects Peluchies. The tail of the Peluchie gains sentience and becomes the primary mind controlling the body of a Pelu, resulting in the Pelu to take on a mindless appearance.
The hallmark appearance of Cuddlerot Afflicted Peluchie is;
Blank Eyes(optional)
Missing Stuffed Toy(required)
A Sentient Tail(required but doesn't have to be visualised) and
Sometimes missing Ear puffs(optional).
Cuddlerot can be caused a few different ways.
A Peluchie loses or is separated permanently from it's Stuffed Toy.
A Peluchie's Stuffed Toy is eaten by a Cuddlerot Afflicted Pelu
As a result of the affliction, the Pelu lives to serve the Tail Mind, usually this involves seeking out and consuming the stuffed toys of other Peluchies.
