now that i think about it, oblivion and skyrim should have kept the dice roll system that morrowind had for magic.
being unable to cast magic because your skill in that category is too low solves so many weird lore issues that some spells add.
for example: bound sword. if bound sword existed as it did in morrowind, it would make sense that people still use regular cold steel weapons. while technically everyone can learn a spell, those who don’t put effort into training that school of magic will see casts fail and still consume their magicka. the sword only lasts so long, in a battle would you risk a magic sword that could suddenly fail you without warning? not to mention that the training that a person would have to undergo to become proficient in both magic and swordsmanship would leave them with less skill than someone who focused on either.
then in oblivion, they got rid of the diceroll and tried to scale it a bit realistically. the bound dagger spell is the only spell anyone off the street can use. an enthusiast might be able to learn bound axe. someone can’t learn bound sword right away as it is the highest level requirement spell of the bound weapons, high enough that by that point you are a full on conjuration mage. in this case, the time sink is still a limiting factor despite there being no cast failures due to useful weapons needing training in conjuration.
then we have skyrim. bound sword? yeah that’s the lowest difficulty spell in conjuration now. everyone and their toddler knows a novice level spell, most know two. how are blacksmiths still in business if 1) magic is a free and replenishing resource as it regenerates over time after a cast and 2) weapons are expensive and an ethereal sword that doesn’t need maintenance is very attractive. hell, there should be a bound hoe, bound pitchfork, and bound shovel spells if bound sword is so easy to cast.
and you know that bethesda noticed this when putting the bound weapons spells in game, because they took out the bound armor spells! in oblivion and morrowind you could cast spells and be covered in weightless plate armor. free plate armor? for everyone? with *checks uesp wiki* negligible learning cost in both games? no excuse why every military isn’t using it. like a ton of training goes into learning how to deal with the increased weight of wearing armor + weapons. completely getting rid of this training by letting people cast a few spells? i wonder if anyone does this in the games? oh just the main antagonists of oblivion. but no one else? why not? if you are getting rid of armor training you could just make your entire military conjuration focused mages and be net even for the amount of training they would have if they continued weapon training with their bound weapons
they should have added lore reasons why people can’t just magic up a weapon or armor. make it against the law, hell they did that for teleportation (and then added a spell to turn iron into gold in a gold based economy with no lore surrounding it at all)
anyway, i’m saying that spells in skyrim (and oblivion) would make more sense if you could fuck them up. the only spells you can fuck up are illusion and necromancy ones for whatever reason, and its a binary. either they are stronger than your target’s resistances and work, or they just fail. the whole spell system in skyrim is a huge lore plothole

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.
It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
Accounts don't just randomly spring up on tumblr without gofundmes while asking for someone to help them create a campaign. Fuck out of here with that shit.
I'm also gonna stop listing the reasons why I recognize something is a scam. It's becoming more and more clear there is 1 person behind this STRING of scams and they're leaving less trails behind but it still reeks of them and their MO.
DO NOT TRUST ANY GOFUNDME OR REQUEST FOR CROWDFUNDING THAT PALESTINIAN BLOGGERS HAVEN'T VERIFIED.
At this point I'm fine receiving a bunch of inbox messages asking me to vet x y z so y'all can avoid this shit. But please have some critical thinking!
