‘sup! welcome to my blog! my name’s orlando and I’m here to tell you my thoughts about furries and zines and the internet and cool graffiti I see on the street :) i’m currently doing a cultural exchange program in brazil and trying to learn lots about the underground comic scene in latin america; so expect some portuguese and spanish comics mixed in here!

I make art too so maybe you’ll see some; I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing with social media and such, you know how it is

feel free to talk to me about anything, I’m always open to recommendations :) my posting schedule is gonna be hella unreliable because I don’t understand how to use the internet and I have a lot of anxiety about posting online B-)

The next comic I want to talk about it a graphic novel from Brazil: Boa Sorte [Good Luck] by Helena Cunha. Though it hasn’t been translated into English yet, if you can read Portuguese or are patient with a translation app, I highly recommend it!

[translation: Julieta is a name that creates expectations from people. And it seems like you already have a partner. “The” Julieta. “Laura” is a book written in white ink. A stupid and short book. I would prefer to be an Ana… or a Carol… a Paula, even.]

Though the style of the book reminds me of Raina Telgemeier (author of Smile, Drama, Sisters… all amazing, I’m a big fan of her too!), Boa Sorte deals with some pretty heavy topics. After Julieta’s sister commits suicide, her and her mom move from the big city to the cold southern countryside & she has to deal with all the fun stuff about being a gay teenager in the 80s 💔

I’m currently living abroad and haven’t seen my younger sister in 7 months. It really hit home, this one 🥲

[…where you stopped for a moment and thought that maybe it would be worth it to stay a little longer. Where I told to our parents all that you made me swear not to tell and they punished you for the rest of your life, a long life]

ZINE SALE BUNDLE

Hiii doing this again. I'm a disabled transthing who's having to resign from its job soon because my baseline for fibromyalgia has gotten too bad to push through, and my tolerance for even commission work has gotten really really low, which is deeply upsetting and annoying. I have so many zines over here and you can grab all of them for a cute $7 (and a bunch of free ones). I also have a kofi and Patreon as tip jars and a toyhous.e for adoptable designs. Obviously there's bigger things to focus on first but anything is appreciated <3

merry whatever, i’m here to bring you 🫵 (the 0 people who follow me) the greatest gift of all: a free comic >:)

Pinky and Pepper Forever by Eddy Atoms is one of my favorite comics of all time (I literally brought the hard copy with me to Brazil for my exchange year). I first came across this comic in this Izzzyzzz video about discontinued dolls and was immediately intrigued because of the absolutely gorgeous art & freaky art students, but I fell in love with it because of the absolutely banger plot (that Dante Alighieri wishes he wrote) about dog girls in love navigating hell (art school) and heaven (for a masoquist).

Every time I read it I notice more allusions to prominent artists and paintings such as the perfomance art of Mariana Abramović (which I was so excited about because we had just talked about her in my art history class in my brazilian school!) and our man Hieronymus Bosch, referenced in the most glorious double page splash that I’ve seen in my life:

I’m 18 and figuring shit out and generally I don’t know anything about anything but Pinky and Pepper Forever makes me really happy (I made a playlist for it too 😌)! I used to be really embarrassed about all the furry bdsm stuff but I’ve grown as a person 🧍‍♂️ and god. just look at her.

read it for free here and consider giving Eddy Atoms some support on Patreon… there’s talk of a sequel coming that I absolutely can’t wait for :D

thanks for reading :)

xoxo orlando
