new to tumblr?

found yourself getting blocked for seemingly no reason?

does your profile look like this:

you're getting blocked because people think you're a bot

do yourself a favour and change your profile images to literally anything except the defaults. give your blog a name, give yourself a bio even if it simply says "new, figuring this out" or something. please, just do ANYTHING that shows everyone you're a human. then you wont get blocked anymore and you'll have a lot more fun here!

oh and while we're here, another hot tip: reblog things. likes do nothing here, there's no algorithm

okay happy tumblring tumblrinos, tumblrinas and tumblrinehs!

i think the post may be exploding bc someone pointed out that new users can't change their profile pic until they follow at least 3 ppl...???

IF that is the case, regardless if you are or are not following at least 3 ppl, that shouldn't stop you from making a post, like bee said, that says "new here, still figuring everything out!" we don't WANT to block actual ppl who are trying to get into tumblr and figure out how this site works, we just want to block bots.

OH god actually it's really funny how much shit that was in it has come to pass in canon by now, because I originally conceptualized it circa gen 4. It's usually what I think about if I think of like pokemon fancharacters or whatever. here we fuckin go

Imagine if half the country's infrastructure was built in a 30 year span and there was no plans to replace the aging infrastructure that is rapid approaching the end of its lifespan, wouldn't that be crazy

Anyways, most urban freeways were built between 1950 and 1980 and are going to be in need of either replacement or demolition within the next 10 to 20 years so civic advocates and urban planners should start preparing plans for what to do with them once they need replacement

For example, the downtown portion of I-64 in Louisville was built in 1976 along the ohio riverfront and could be easily removed when the date comes and replaced with a boulevard OR if we let KYTC, it could be rebuilt as a larger structure with more lanes, it will be our job as citizens to demand that positive change is made to our cities when the infrastructure reaches its expiration date

As someone that has grown up surrounded by beaches and done surf life saving, I know how the sea works. Lots of people dont. Every summer multiple tourists die here because they don’t respect the sea, if you’re going to the coast, here’s a thing I saw on Facebook.

wow.

reblogging for all of us that grew up in land locked states, then visit the ocean and are used to just plunging into a lake.

These are not unique to the sea btw. Rip tides are also a danger in other large bodies of water, like the Great Lakes

I had heard of rip tides, but I would never have guessed they were the calm-looking part. If I had been looking for a safe space to wade, I would have avoided all of the white parts (turbulent! terrifying!) and gone straight for the rip.

lake michigan has rip tides and strong currents and also the highest kill count of all of them because people think of superior and huron as The Scary Ones. lake michigan has beautiful beaches along very big cities, and eats tourists like popcorn. do not underestimate lakes, but particularly not the great lakes.

gendercensus

The 2024 Gender Census is now open!

The 11th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th June 2024.

It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.

The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.

Thank you so much!
