while i am also not super excited at the idea of another playable race being added as well (really want them to push the music aspect and world tour could be such a fun excuse to have levels at diffrent music venues) i am curious about exactly what they would add to cuttlings to make them stand out from the other inkfish. the one poster weve seen has them looking pretty similar to inklings, so im wondering what changes they would apply to their hair/masks/ears to make them distinct enough from the other two
upon popular demand i whipped this up in like 20 minutes on what id reasonably expect from a playable cuttlefish.
i think theres something that could be done to make them distinct. the octolings really dont look too far from inklings when you think about it: ears, eye mask, suction cup placement, spots? and then some minor things like beak and nose shape. ive heard of some fans who cant immediately remember the difference between inklings and octolings. in the case of cuttlefish, i think that the wavy fins like what we see on the Coikals would be important for telling the species apart, like how suction cups on the top side of the tentacles is the main distinguishing feature for octoling hair.
anyway. still iffy about how sudden this this introduction of cuttlefish would seem to be, but like ive said in the past, cuttlefish are the only new species i would accept if it ever happened...can only hope the splatoon team executes it well and doesn't introduce more species with every game here on out.
