THIS IS A CALL TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY OF DUCKTALES
Hi guys, @a-little-person-random and I have created a list for this year’s inktober, we hope you can participate :D
If so, use the #ducktober
Let’s draw ducks!!
Me and my mom were talking about monkeys in general because i was actually very confused about the whole "if you smile, generally monkeys can see it as a sign of aggression" and she explained it to me
And other than the fact that it's a "sign of aggression" because generally showing the teeth can be used as something to show anger, my mom said this
"it all depends on the type of monkey, for example for chimpanzees your whole existence is aggressive for them, they'll snap you like a dry twig."
but also it dipends on the environment the animal grew up in, my cat could easily mistake my smile as a sign of aggression but dosen't because he grew up knowing how humans show emotions and can distinguish between them, a wild monkey for example can't know about it.
So this means that Sun Wukong won't actually find a smile aggressive, he grew up around humans and mortals and he can distinguish, but i like to think that sometimes he still does because he forgets, he did spent 500 years only around monkeys. And it's nature to him? Y'know.
and for Macaque? I like to think that he sees it as aggressive, that's it. No in-between. No "what if".
He smiles himself to show that he is not friendly, unlike wukong who does smile often to show that he is the opposite of aggressive, he makes sure not smile with his teeth with his monkeys though, his smile is way more intimidating than a human one.
Just
Silky monkey fact i guess
no but really
this can actually be a fact in LMK
Wukong is see more with a close smile, while Mac tend to show his teeth a lot while smiling.
God i can make a tesis about Mac's smile just with his introduction episode
Wukong smile both with and without showing his teeth, but there's a big difference in his teeth smile compared to Mac, and when he's calm the smile that predomined is the closed one.
also while looking at the images for this, i realised that Wukong tend to smile more with his teeth when is obvious that he's playing it dumb to hide his worries about a situation, it show a lot during season 3. It can relate to what you say about Wukong learning that for humans smile = good vibes, he try to smile more during dangerous situations to keep everybody calm (and that also could explain why his logo has a teeth smile, to look friendly to humans).
