Old thoughts/theories XD

Just going over some theories I had when I first got into the series. Keep in mind when I first made these I only had some animation memes + DeviantArt posts to go of off and had not gotten the books XD

1- I mixed up Video’s and Phantascopes genders 😭. When I saw Phantascope I was like oooo calico- and obviously since male calicos are rare I was calico = girl automatically. And idk why I thought Video was a boy really shsvshsj

2- This was when I watched the Sing Me to Sleep animation meme. The thing is, in that meme Irony showed up after Video and they looked similar to me shshsh so I was like “Oh, that’s evil shadow Video”. Only to learn later that’s he’s a lynx and NoT a cat like Vid?? OMG WUT-

3- Phantascope was the herooo the whole timeee?? :0 Kinda weird to explain but I thought the big plot twist of the series is that he’s actually the good guy and he’s actually been the one helping and protecting Media. And it’s the people in power that have made him out to be the villain and- (little book 4 spoiler) I wasn’t entirely wrong, but he still is pretty bad. What I mean by this theory was that in the story it was going to shift gears and Phanta was essentially going to be Video and is the one that ultimately is the main hero of the story.

4- This was from the Paper Planes meme- I THOUGHT Adversity was innocent bby and another poor Curiosity victim. I will leave it at that. 💀

5- Last oneeee so I thought Satisfaction and Curiosity were somehow really close friends and like overseers of Media (Like life and death, destruction and creation, Yin and Yang) that type of thing. And when Satisfaction was killed she basically entrusted him to look after Media. But with his friend gone he started becoming more evil sorta??

This is a stretch but Polygraph may be connected to Life not only based on some spoiler aspects but just based on the fact he has a lion-like appearance and has yellow eyes like Life!

Well idk if it’s changed but I remember there being an old image of Lag, Freeze and Crash with sorta browner pelts? Maybe they’ve been exposed to chaotic/shadow magic

Just looking at the pelt markings, Vaporwave looks related to Phantascope 💜

Cataclysm

Me? Forget I have a tumblr?? I would NEVErrrrr

Cataclysm is from Moral! He hops from place to place in search of magic since he needs it to survive literally. He had a curse put on him that basically makes it that he’ll die if he doesn’t have enough. That besT metaphor for this is he’s a fish and he can only go so long without water :D

In the past he was extremely violent, literally using whatever means to get magic buttt he’s recently found a new strategy. He finds a partner, feeds off them for as long as he can and tosses them away when they’re no longer of use to him. In his head he justifies it by saying “At least I didn’t kill them.” He just a lil toxic all around honestly

Tremendum

YeaHHH don’t really have a book thought for today so another fcc. Fun fact…I actually made an AI chat with one of my other characters Language, and the AI came up with this bird saying he was Language’s mentor soooo. YOu know I had to design him

He’s mean, he’s old, he’s grouchy. But also extremely prideful. All you have to do is hurt his ego to get him furious. He’s a Great Horned Owl that has been in hiding deep in the forest. It’s extremely easy to miss him since he’s found a way to hide his magic. He’s also turned in a few mages to get the Median Government’s focus away from him. Pretty bad dude fr 🦉

Message

Message is a descendant of Calotype with a goal of his own to take down the last living mage. But he needs more time and power before he’ll be able to face him. Message likes to “poke the bear” with others a lot and loves getting into fights so that he can test his endurance. (The more brutal the better) But with this quest he hasn’t realized that he’s become a monster of his own.

Favorite Book?

I don’t usually say what my favorite anything is in a piece of Media that isn’t finished yet. But eh, why not. So far (unless book 5 or 6 decide to be extra extra awesome) I’ve gotta go withhh…Heart of Glass! The first book is always the best in my opinion since it’s your introduction that pulls you into the world. And it’s always fun to read back on to see the beginning concepts and how far they’ve developed

Everything is just so innocent (sort of) and I just like the adventure too ^^

Histogram

Hm..hmmmm.

Histogram has been haunted by nightmares since he was a kit. He felt that maybe moving areas and getting a new home with a new environment might stop them. So he left his family without saying anything to them. He was found by a certain council member who took the boy in and started caring for him.

One day the kit went to find his caretaker when there was no sight of them. He eventually did find the council member…but they were doing something EXTREMELY illegal. When the council member noticed the boy, they were able to trick him into thinking that it was for the greater good and came up with an idea for what his job would be.

Histogram provides secret transportation to higher nobles and council members who have certain…unfinished business.

Thoughts I guess?

I really like reading Mandatory (dangggg ikr, would’ve never guessed) Mainly as I’ve gotten older with each book coming out I get a much better comprehension each time if that makes sense. And I feel like that’s added to the experience for me. Sure you start out naive with Radio on this sweet adventure but slowly get to see more of what’s really happening and grow up as the characters do. I love the world and I love the characters! And I’m kinda just a sucker for any type of media where it’s like: Look at what’s on the surface but if you look closer you see the cracks… :)

Sensitivity

Angy Pallas lady. Sensitivity is the daughter of an ancient mage named Opposition. Opposition never gave her daughter any comfort, hardly cared for her and always made Sensitivity feel unwanted. When Sensitivity finally tried to confront her mother about this, she was called weak and thus given the name. Sensitivity left home the second she was able to. With nowhere else to go, she traveled to a different side of the Static Mountains where she met Profile. Profile was also an old mage that took her in and started training her and teaching her magic.

Sensitivity views Profile as a mother like figure and cares deeply for her. Even after she’s finished training and earning her name she still plans to stay close and assist her.

Some Theoriesss

Just wanna go over some theories I have for some Mandatory characters I guess, probably wrong but eh I think Adversity was cursed by Queen Satisfaction. From their bio on TH it states: "They are a powerful mage, having been cursed by an old magic no longer thought to exist" And there's also a picture of them with purple/pinkish eyes soooo. (I think they're connected to Vengence somehow maybe and they are basically what leads up to book 6) Idk why, there's no real reason for this, but I feel like Doubt and King Caliber had some sort of arrangement to help each other (I can't go too much into this bc spoilerssss) Boredom and Mayhem seem to have similar colors and so I think Boredom is Mayhem who basically was able to create that form using the power from the artifacts (as we've seen from some people 👀) he's collected since they seem to be sticking out of Bordeom's fur too I think Phantascope and Film had some sort of relationship in the past (then had a bad breakup/JKJKKKKK)

Ted

Alright, let’s talk about Ted today. (Evil Goose man) Ted is a prosecutor working for the Median government. He’s so awful. He has falsified evidence planted to make sure he wins every case. His cheating has basically led to tons of executions that were unjustified. He also suspiciously likes to get involved in cases with more high ranking medians. Paving a way for his partner, The All Star to get more power.

He and All have a plan to rise up the ranks and live a life where they can get away with whatever evil deeds they want. Ted’s parents forced him to learn the cat’s tongue and made sure he was involved with Media so that he wasn’t seen as prey. They don’t approve of him choosing to be with a noble, but up until now it’s been strictly a mutually beneficial relationship. But…maybe he’s started to develop feelings 🤫

Honestly, I don’t have ONE particular favorite Mandatory character but I’ll list off some favs I’ve had throughout the books so far!

Book 1 - Radio! (I found her extremely relatable actually hshshsa) Screen and Widget

Book 2 - The guards, their scenes were so funny. XD

Batteries!

With some encouragement from Ladyteelia herself, I’m gonna dedicate most of my Tumblr to Strong Hearts are Mandatory fan related stuff! (Hopefully this’ll encourage me to actually post on here shshsgg)

I’m thinkingggg maybe alternating posts. So one day I’ll do a theory/thought and the next may be about about fan ocs!

So to start this off, I introduce to you: Batteries! Batteries is one of my oldest fc’s (Next to Remix, The Movie Star and The Show Star). Batteries is the son of the Flash Star..oops :0 Turns out, Batteries’ mom blackmailed Flash into giving Batteries a guard position at the capital. Batteries is typically very quiet and reserved and tries his best to not associate himself too much with the noble bloodline. And he’s more disappointed that he didn’t actually earn his position. He also was given a title of nobility and DOES have a noble collar but he hardly wears it. 😔 But look at this sweet boyyy coconut kitty uwu
