The Wonderling World

Wonderlings are just humans who once had a chance encounter from a shard form or wanderer form Wonderling*. They live on Earth, unable to escape the planet and return to the Land of the Gods in their semi-mortal form. So the Wonderlings set out to do what they do best: wage battles and compete.

Holy Wonderlings have a deep hatred for Darkborn and Dark Wonderlings, and Darkborn and Dark Wonderlings are notoriously mischievous, arrogant, and volatile. Holy Wonderlings are often a touch more patient, caring, and they are less impulsive than their counterparts. Wonderlings, regardless of holy or dark, take on many of the elements of their creature (usually a person). Some are slobs, some work a lot but never make it on time, some enjoy swimming or reading, etc.

Life for Wonderlings is tame and boring when there isn't a battle to be fought. But with Dark Wonderlings around, something nefarious is always in the making so Holy Wonderlings stay in tune with their surroundings to catch the next bad-guy or gal that threatens their new home, Earth.


* Crossovers and Wonderlings of other species are allowed though each of you must check on the rules with each CS creator before making them. It is forseeable that species everywhere with Gods/Goddesses could potentially have some divine shards fall to the planet in question and fuse with one of the sentient beings there. FYI though: My adopts will be human and storylines will pertain to Earth for the timeline I set up for Wonderlings.

About Wonderlings

Wonderlings are shards of weapons used by gods that had enough power still in them when they fell to Earth that they fused with a sentient being when they touched them (usually a human). They are the silent heroes (or evil-doers) of the human world - literal magical girls and magical guys! They live to fight and find competitive ways to curb their warring spirits when there are no battles to be found.

Wonderlings can be any age - once they fuse with their creature though, they slow down on aging thanks to magic. Their fused form gains speed, strength, and the desire to fight! And they have a crystal(s) on their body somewhere that shows the type of weapon and god they were torn from before they fell to Earth and fused with another creature. Should those crystals become cracked and dim, Holy Wonderlings slip down the slope of evil and become Dark Wonderlings...

Holy Wonderlings:

SHARD FORM
This is the most basic form of the Wonderling. It is a piece of a god's weapon, and it can not do much else other than change its appearance...

WANDERER FORM
Once a Wonderling changes its form, it must adapt. To adapt, the shard takes on an inquisitive Wanderer Form and tests out various living creatures to fuse with. Typically they stop testing when they find a human to fuse with - also the more intelligent a creature, the harder it is to fuse and the more likely they need permission to fuse. The only abilities the Wanderer Form has are fusing and levitating besides basic necessary movement. They are very shy and skittish in this form since they cannot defend themselves...

FUSED FORM
Once the Wonderling finds the creature it wants to fuse with and the creature allows it, the fuse becomes permanent and the new Fused Form starts to live out its life. Part of that life, thanks to the innate natures and desires of the shard, are to do battle! This form is the FULL form of the Wonderling where it has access to all of it's abilities and powers.


Wonderling Rarities and Stages

This information only applies to Wonderlings in their FUSED FORMS. Wonderlings have the following rarities: unvaried - remarkable - unique - fabled and the following stages: one - two - three.

They have crystal(s) and crystal cluster(s) in different locations on their body based on their stage - each stage/rarity can contain the elements from the previous stage/rarity but a Wonderling cannot ever attain elements from a stage/rarity they have not achieved.

Wonderling rarity and stage can change by fusing with other Wonderlings though it is uncommon for FUSED FORM Wonderlings to fuse with others like them, instead they find a Shard Form or Wanderer Form to fuse with since those forms are in need of assistance anyways (Dark Wonderlings WILL try to force fuse with a FUSED FORM Holy Wonderling though, so be careful!).

Unvaried
These Wonderlings have only one power type they can draw from (ie crystal and color). These Wonderlings have no weapon/item.

Stage 1 Unvaried: One crystal with one ability.
Stage 2 Unvaried: One crystal cluster with two abilities.
Stage 3 Unvaried: Two crystal clusters with three abilities.

Remarkable
These Wonderlings have two power types they can draw from (ie crystals and colors). These Wonderlings have a small and simple weapon/item.

Stage 1 Remarkable: Two crystals with two abilities.
Stage 2 Remarkable: One crystal and one cluster with three abilities.
Stage 3 Remarkable: Two crystal clusters with four abilities.

Unique
These Wonderlings have three power types they can draw from (ie crystals and colors). These Wonderlings have a medium-sized non-ornate weapon/item.

Stage 1 Unique: Three crystals with three abilities.
Stage 2 Unique: One crystal and two clusters with four abilities.
Stage 3 Unique: Three crystal clusters with five abilities.

Fabled
These Wonderlings have four+ power types they can draw from (ie crystals and colors). These Wonderlings have any type of extravagant and ornate weapon/item.

Stage 1 Fabled: Four crystals with four abilities.
Stage 2 Fabled: Two crystals and two clusters with five abilities.
Stage 3 Fabled: Four crystal clusters with six abilities.

Looking to Upgrade your Wonderling?

The Fusion Warehouse is the place to be! To get a more powerful Wonderling, you have to fuse two Wonderlings together:

Get a Wonderling by any official means: adopts, create your own Unvaried Form for free, or purchase an upgrade! Then fuse! Your chosen Wonderling will advance +1 stage (or rarity if at stage 3 already). This will earn your Wonderling new crystals, powers, and weapon enhancements! 

How often can I fuse?

Fusing is an exhausting process for your Wonderling(s). You may fuse at most 2 times every month. This is NOT per Wonderling but per member. If you have multiple Wonderlings, pick and choose. If you are doing something that is pertinent to a story for your Wonderling, we may overturn the 2/month rule - this is not a hard-and-fast-rule. But we ask that you do note us about your needs and reasons to get permission to fuse beyond the 2/month.

How do I officially fuse my Wonderling?

You must note the dA group or Discord your intention as well as the keeper Wonderling and the fodder Wonderling. Fodder Wonderlings become SPENT after fusing with another Wonderling and must have a new Wanderer or Shard form fuse with them to be usable again. YES, spent Wonderling designs CAN BE USED AGAIN! Do not toss them out!

How much does fusion cost?

Fusing is FREE. However note the limitations to fusing monthly. If you DO want to fuse a whole bunch of times, we may be able to work out sort of an OTA type deal for that. Again, not hard-and-fast but won't ever cost you money.

What can I do with my Spent Wonderling?

You can keep it or give it to the group. Those are the only two options right now. And a Spent Wonderling, until fused by a new Shard or Wanderer form, remains inert and unusable in the Wonderling World. Re-fusing with a Shard or Wanderer form DOES take one of your 2/month fusion slots but WILL restore your Spent Wonderling back to their former glory.

Increasing Wonderling Rarity and Stage by Fusion...

Short Version... 

  • Fuse with any other Wonderling to get a +1 bonus. 
  • At a +3 bonus, your Wonderling advances one stage (or rarity if at stage 3 already). 
  • When advancing to a new rarity, choose a new power from one you already absorbed. 
  • If the Wonderling you are fusing with is more powerful and you remain dominant, advance to that stage/next rarity. 
  • Most Wonderlings only fuse with wanderer and shard forms. 
  • Holy Wonderlings can heal Dark Wonderlings Darkborn Wonderlings cannot be healed Darkborn Wonderlings can infect Holy Wonderlings 
Long Version... You can increase your Wonderling's rarity and stage by fusing with other wonderlings in any form. By fusing, the dominant Wonderling (the one that remains in charge - usually the more powerful of the two) automagically gains a +1 bonus. At a total +3 bonus, a Wonderling moves up one stage. At stage 3, if a Wonderling moves up a stage, they move up to the next rarity and begin at stage 1 for that rarity. If you make it to the next rarity when fusing, you MUST take that absorbed Wonderling's power OR a power you have previously absorbed as your next power. You do not have to match/mimic abilities or crystal shapes - those are for you to choose but once chosen, they are also permanent. By fusing and increasing one's power, a Wonderling NEVER loses power except if they are the non-dominant Wonderling in the fusion (they effectively get absorbed - most Wonderlings NEVER fuse with a fused form, only shard and wanderers). Fusing for power-ups IS PERMANENT. This isn't like the Wanderer Form trying on other creatures to see who they match with best. And YES you can "upgrade" your magical outfit, crystals, and weapon with each new fusion so long as the upgrade does not violate the rules for the rarity and stage you are currently in. You CAN increase your Wonderling's rarity and stage FASTER by being pickier about who your Wonderling fuses with. If you fuse with a Wonderling that has a stage that is higher than you (instead of matching or lower), you automagically achieve that stage for your current rarity. IF you are at stage 3 of your current rarity and fuse with a stage 3 of a higher rarity, your Wonderling automagically becomes stage 3 of the next rarity in line. The final rarity at stage 3 does not lose the ability to fuse!!! HOWEVER forevermore, each time they fuse, they gain a new ability (meaning they go past 6 abilities). As stated previously, most Wonderlings only fuse with wanderer and shard forms. They are in need of help and purpose, and fusing with them and absorbing them gives them the help they were seeking and the purpose they needed. HOWEVER Dark Wonderlings can and will fuse with fused forms as well as wanderer and shard forms to take over an adversary or just simply to be evil. IMPORTANT!!! If a Holy Wonderling fuses with a Dark Wonderling (or vice-versa and the Holy Wonderling ends up dominant), a crystal will darken on them and/or crack. Even tho rarity and stage can be increased this way, once ALL of a Wonderling's crystals are darkened and/or cracked, they become a Dark Wonderling. ONLY a Holy Wonderling with healing OR holy powers can reverse this effect. In effect, Dark Wonderlings CAN BECOME HEALED and be Holy Wonderlings again. DARKBORN WONDERLINGS CANNOT BE HEALED. And Darkborn Wonderlings can use necrosis or chaos powers to "infect" a Holy Wonderling, darkening and/or cracking a crystal with a single touch (Dark Wonderlings alone do NOT have this ability even if they have necrosis or chaos powers).

Can I make my own?
Yes! We are a semi-open species. You can create any unvaried form for free: anytime!

When do official and guest adopts come out?
MamaLantiis does about 1-2 official adopts each month. Guest adopts come out based on the guest artist's individual schedule and availability.

How much do adopts cost?
Official adopts range from $30-$50 per adopt for AB and are otherwise OTA adopts. Official adopts may also be raffled or DTA. Guest adopts depend on the guest artist.

How do you upgrade a Wonderling?
Read up on Fusions [see the first and second tabs]

TL;DR??!
Get a Wonderling by any official means: adopts, create your own Unvaried Form for free, or purchase an upgrade! Then fuse! Your chosen Wonderling will advance +1 stage (or rarity if at stage 3 already). This will earn your Wonderling new crystals, powers, and weapon enhancements!

So, can I just keep creating a free Wonderling and use them to power up my main(s)?
YES! And be super creative as you go! Have fun with it! Just know an equally fused form to fused form fusion is not always successful in this capacity. Perhaps don't go wild with your creations so you have more opportunity for successful fusions.


ABOUT THE SPECIES

TL;DR What is a 'Divine Shard' or Wonderling?
The divine shards are pieces of the god's weapons that broke off in glorious battle and fell to earth. Their shard form is energy conserving, their wanderer form is highly unstable, and their fused form is what we typically call a proper 'Wonderling.'

Wonderlings are essentially superheros with very specific skillsets and a very streamlined and defined method of growth and power consumption. At their height of power (Fabled Wonderlings), they wield mighty weapons as gods and may very well be the catalyst that starts the lifespan of a new divine shard.

What are the differences between Holy, Dark, and Darkborn Wonderlings?
HOLY: All things pure and good. They always have 3 forms: Shard, Wanderer, and Fused. DARK: Exactly like Holy but EVIL - often started as a Holy Wonderling and were corrupted. DARKBORN: The shard of an evil weapon - they started out dark and may be missing their wanderer forms due to consumption of the unstable form to strengthen themselves...

Do I have to have my Wonderling choose a side/capitol?
No, but to participate in events, you will have to temporarily choose for at least a little bit.

We can just make up any type of weapon right?
YES! Be creative when you get to the point of weapon creation :3

Can Wonderlings be twins or related?
Yes and no. If two+ Wonderlings come from the same god weapon, they are related. If two+ Wonderlings fuse with related creatures, they are related. Otherwise no.

Can I make a pet for my Wonderling?
Yes and no. Any available earth pet is fine. Want to breed dogs? Go for it. Want a cat? Have at it. (etc...) Wonderlings, however, do not have special superpowered pets and cannot keep a wanderer or shard form as a pet.

What is a Boundless Wonderling, and can I make one?
If you are an admin, you can make one as an NPC only - they belong to the group and species. Boundless Wonderlings are those who are so powerful that they have abilities and items beyond Fabled form. If you want a playable Boundless Wonderling, you must fuse your way to it. :3

What is more powerful: a XYZ Wonderling MYO or a basic Wonderling fused up to get to XYZ Wonderling status?
The fused up version. More work to achieve powers and abilities and weapons... Becomes and ends up being way way way more powerful than one made as the same type (MYO or pre-bought adopt).


SOCIETY AND FUTURISTIC EARTH

What kind of society do Wonderlings live in?
Futuristic Earth. Present day is 2388. Crime is high. Corruption is high. Danger is everywhere. The world has become a melting pot and there are two competing primary languages and two competing primary world capitals.

The Holy Wonderlings are building up the capitol in Berne, Switzerland, using the spoken dialect of Etanis (a hybrid of Swiss, English, and Italian). The Holy Wonderlings operate through a council of 3 very powerful (boundless) Wonderlings called Trinity.

Dark Wonderlings are being drawn to several different places, but their focal point is plotting the devastation of the Holy Wonderlings, so they are corrupting the American capitol of Washington DC and, in turn, the Moon capitol of Serenity (under a biome - mostly farmers and scientists). The Dark Wonderlings tend towards a more secretive language style, using a combination of a bastardized sign language with old-school American English mixed with Chinese for necessary verbal cues. They have one dictator Darkborn Wonderling leading them.

What do the people do?
Normal people live their lives as best as they can. They are everything from the grocer to a police officer to the local doctor or lawyer. Kids go to school; adults work. Scientists, doctors, and pilots are in high demand.

If a normal person is fused with a wandering form or shard form and becomes a Wonderling, it is up to that individual Wonderling if they continue on the lifepath of the human, follow their dream for glory in battle, or try to manage both. Make no mistake tho, with short-range space travel, the possibility of colonizing Mars, and Dark Wonderlings out there, there is plenty for everyone to do, Wonderling or not!

Can I make a human character for this world/species?
Yes! Feel free to make any characters for your Wonderling(s) to interact with for free (so long as you follow the group rules for making new Wonderlings if you choose to make a Wonderling)!

Are there LGBT+ Wonderlings?
Wonderlings are androgynous asexual creatures that formed from the weapons of Gods... They don't care. They take on whatever form and desires their host has. If your host is LGBT+ then yes, your Wonderling most likely is too.

Is space travel a thing?
YES! Wonderlings, via magic OR technology, can travel in space.

Can the Wonderlings meet XYZ Species?
YES! If you have a space-capable race/species and want to meet a Wonderling, note the group to make 1st contact!

Terms of Service and Adoption/Use

Wonderlings are a SEMI-OPEN species.
This means that you can create, FOR FREE, any UNVARIED form Wonderling at any time. The is true for all forms (Shard, Wanderer, and Fused forms) and varieties (Holy or Dark). You do not need to ask permission. YOU DO NEED TO CREDIT @ilantiis for the species when posting. It would be nice if you joined the group and discord, and shared your Wonderlings with us there.

You may NOT create adopts but can trade/resell your current Wonderlings.
You may trade or give away your Wonderlings as you see fit. You may resell unwanted or unused Wonderlings for their purchase price plus the prices of any PAID FOR artwork (you may not use free artwork and assign a price to it). You do not need to ask permission to do this. However, we do like to know where our kids are going, so noting the group or discord would be nice.

You may make money ON YOUR OWN DESIGNS with credit.
YOU MUST CREDIT MamaLantiis FOR THE SPECIES NO MATTER WHAT. With that said, yes, you CAN use designs you have made in products you sell. Want to make your Wonderling into a t-shirt design - go ahead! Just CREDIT LANTIIS for the species. You may not make or sell adopts tho, and you may not make money off of a design that is not your original creation!!

Leaving the species? This is what you need to know and do!
You may take your Wonderlings with you and use them outside the species so long as you give any creator of the Wonderling their due credit. If you refuse to give credit, you are agreeing to redesign your Wonderling. If you want to do neither, the group would be happy to rehome your Wonderling(s) for you.
