What Are Kurina?

Birth of a Kurina Kurina are a type of Sprite or Fae, they are born when a human (or other species) is having a hard time taking care of themselves. From the moment they come into existence they have the need to please and help and take care of the people they were born from. They are a rather small species, ranging from 15cm to 25cm in height, despite their tiny stature they are always doing what they can to help out. Some Kurina are specialized and only help in one aspect of a persons life, such as making sure they take their meds on time or making sure they meet deadlines, while others help in a broader sense; such as assisting with cleaning up, to laundry, watering plants, attending to pets, assisting with hygiene ect. (Some Kurina may try to help you get your nutritional needs met, but it is not advised to let your Kurina use a stove or open flame, they are very small afterall and the heat could injure them.)

The Veil

When a human no longer needs as much assistance, the Kurina do not simply cease to exist, they can portal to and from their human and their humans can call on them if needed. However, they also have their own realm where Kurina live, come and go and interact called the Veil. This is where the Kurina form bonds with other Kurina, take up jobs, and live. The Veil is a place that does not have things such as electricity and cell phones. It's a tranquil place that runs mostly on magic. Kurina live in houses built by hand and by magic. Their homes range from simple cottages in the woods to modern day inspired homes in the main city. Fashion in the Veil is ever changing and are a mix of styles, from hoodies to girdles, the style of a Kurina's clothes is totally up to the Kurina. (They can also go nekkie or barbie doll nekkie, that's okay too!)

Kurina Magic

Kurina are born with various magic abilities to help their human companions, while the abilities vary somewhat, all Kurina have the ability to levitate themselves off the ground, carry things much heavier than themselves (think 2-3x their weight, so not a whole car but, lifting things to help clean would be easy for them). They are born with innate language (so they can understand, read and with practice, write in most dialects). Almost all Kurina are empathic, which tends to make them very loving and caring. Many but not all Kurina are born with the ability to levitate things other than themselves, which is helpful with their born duty. Kurina also have the ability to go unnoticed around strangers at will. (For your own stories, you are free to make your Kurina lack these abilities if you wish to add some depth and dynamic to your characters.)
